Burning Bridges Breaks Up Again

After reforming only several months ago, Albany's Burning Bridges have apparently called it quits once again. The latest break-up is reportedly on good terms as the members just weren't having fun with the band anymore. From what we've heard, there will be no final show.

The Red Chord Part With Drummer

Drummer John Longstreth and The Red Chord reportedly parted ways this past weekend. According to Longstreth, the split is the result of "stylistic differences." Longstreth had originally joined The Red Chord this past spring and has previously done time with Origin and Skinless. Here's a statement from the band:

"John Longstreth is no longer in the band. To avoid any complications, we'll stick with the simple 'stylistic differences' explanation, because it's more accurate than any other. I'd like to believe we're all still on good terms. We do, however, have to cancel our upcoming shows. There are a few people filling in and helping out in the meantime to aid in finalizing new material while we find a new permanent member. A big special thanks to our original drummer, Mike Justain, for helping us out the last few days. Parties interested in trying out can send sample recordings of their playing via audio or video format to the BMA address below or e-mail the band at theredchord@hotmail.com. Parties are asked that they should be fully confident they can play the older Red Chord material. Serious inquiries only."

No Iced Earth Gigs Until Summer 2005

Iced Earth's Jon Schaffer's back problems persist and Iced Earth is not expected to tour until the Eurpoean fest circuit next summer. He's posted a Lengthy message to Iced Earth's message boards:

"Hello All!

It's time for an update once again. Things have been pretty crazy between the awesome news of being a future father for the first time, the back problems and the numerous doctor visits; MRI's, EMG's and a load of other tests, a new business that has taken off and grown much quicker than expected (Spirit of 76 Collectibles), the Gettysburg DVD, Iced Earth's day to day, Demons & Wizards, a 4 figure miniature series called "The Great Americans" and another line-up change.

Unfortunately for me, the guys in the band, the crew, the label, and more importantly the fans, we will not be touring Europe or anywhere else until summer 2005 due to my serious lower back problems and the fact that I'll be a father in early March. We plan on playing many of the big European festivals next summer and they are being booked at present.

This is the main reason that Jimmy is no longer with Iced Earth. He called me after it was obvious that I.E. would not be touring for a while and asked if I would mind if he auditioned for Megadeth. I wished him luck and told him that if he can go out and earn money by playing bass he should do it. This is a tough business and it's not easy for musicians to make a living when they're in an underground band that is not touring. That's why so many musicians that are in bands and have records out also have day jobs. Tim, Bobby and I wish Jimbo all the best!

Machine Head's Anniversary Show Goes To DVD

MACHINE HEAD's performance of their classic debut album, "Burn My Eyes", in its entirety on August 8, 2004 at the Philadelphia stop on their "Road Rage" tour was filmed with a six-camera, 24-track digital filming-and-recording rig courtesy of the guys at High Roller Productions. In addition, plans still exist for the group to film their December 5, 2004 show at the Brixton Academy in London, England for an upcoming DVD. "What we would like to see happen is for this DVD to be released in the beginning of the year, with the main DVD being the London show with the first pressing of the DVD containing a 'limited edition bonus DVD' of our 'Burn My Eyes' 10th anniversary show, as basically a 'thank you' for our hardcore fans, and longtime supporters," MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn writes in the latest installment of his online "diary". After that first pressing has sold out, the bonus 'Burn My Eyes' show will go away, and the full London DVD will be available. So if you sleep on it, your loss." Read the rest of Flynn's posting, including his reflections on the "Road Rage" tour and the upcoming video shoot for "Days Turn Blue to Gray", at this location.
