Unearth Ozzfest Update, More Tour Dates

Here's from the official Unearth site:

As most of you know the last date of this summer's Ozzfest was cancelled in West Palm Beach, Florida due to Hurricane Frances. It sucks for both the fans waiting to attend the concert and the bands wanting to go out with a bang live and actually get to have one last night of the greatest Ozzfest to date. Mother nature didn't want it to happen, so it is done a day early. Please everyone in Florida be safe!

We had a blast all summer long playing to huge crowds (in the a.m. mostly), meeting the fans, hanging with the second stage bands, watching Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Slayer on a nightly basis, and flat out just having the time of our lives. We will always remember Ozzfest 2004. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.

See you all on the road this fall. The new dates are up for our headlining run with Terror, The Black Dahlia Murder and Remembering Never.

Here are all of the dates for the Unearth, Terror, The Black Dahlia Murder, Remembering Never tour: More...

Forgotten Tomb Updates

Forgotten Tomb's album "Love's Burial Ground" suffered some delays with the final release-date, but it will be finally available next week.

The band is currently assembling material for the mighty "Live Manipulation" DVD. The DVD will include a professionally-shot live-show + other 3/4 amateurish (yet good-sounding) gigs, as well as some other bonus material (backstage, interviews, pics gallery, rehearsals, studio-reports, etc.). Expect this monumental curse to be unleashed upon feeble mankind in the beginning of 2005.

The band is working on the re-release of "Obscura Arcana Mortis" too. The remastering of the MCD as well as the recording of the "Obscura Arcana Mortis MMIV" track will be done around October. This new version will see the presence of a special-guest recording some extra-vocals.

The band has been asked by a french underground label to take part in a Black Metal Motorhead-tribute LP!! The band is currently deciding what song will be covered. It seems that many other bands are already confirmed for this tribute, so expect a damn fucked up Black n' Roll release, as well as the most bizarre FT recording ever.

Kaizen To Enter The Studio

French metalcore act Kaizen have nearly completed the songwriting process for their second full-length album and are planning on entering the studio in November/December to begin recording the effort. The follow up to 2003's "Clear the Path" will contain nine or ten songs and will be released in early 2005 on XIIIbis Records.

In other related news, Soulfly's Max Cavalera recently had kind words to say about Kaizen during an interview with the French magazine Hard n' Heavy. The entire article (in French) can be viewed at this location.

Also on the Kaizen-related front, the band's lead singer, Johann Porcher, is currently editing a movie (entitled "Go West") he directed and shot in the United States this summer.

Shrapnel Releases Debut Album

"Intellectual Pursuit" is the debut album of Bangalore metal band, Shrapnel, which it says is a document of a two-year rock n’ roll journey. And when you listen to the tracks in the album you are convinced that it has been a mind-blowing journey. The tracks have been tried and tested successfully on a live audience over a period of time and the release of the album is just an extension of their confidence in their metallic journey.

The lineup of the band includes Deepak on the lead guitar and vocals, Akash on the drums, Varun on rhythm guitar and Sudeep on the bass.

"Intellectual Pursuit" is loaded (literally) with gut-wrenching music from tracks like "Futile," "Path of Vengeance," "When Doubt Takes Over," "Race to Oblivion," "Perspective Intolerance," "Betrayed," "Just Another Lie" and the title track, "Intellectual Pursuit." The lyrics are intellectual stuff, but you can’t decipher that from the guttural vocals.

The origins of Shrapnel goes back to mid-1999 when the four band members met in pre-university college. Deepak and Akash had known each other for much longer. It was two years of “lots of fun.’’ Towards the end of 2000, Deepak had started to get more serious about his guitar. He played with a few bands that never got anywhere but gave him a lot of experience. He finally teamed up with Akash in early 2001 to realise the vision of Shrapnel.

The band attributes its formation to probably the sudden burst of heavy metal in Bangalore. Bands like Threinody and Kryptos were inspirations for them. Also when international bands like The Scorpions and Deep Purple came to the City, it only cemented their decision to form a band.

The first lineup of Shrapnel didn’t last very long, just four shows to be precise. To date, Shrapnel has performed in over 20 shows, which include opening for bands like Pentagram, Zero and Kryptos, string of headlining shows at the Urban Edge and performing at the Bangalore Habba, an event celebrating the spirit of Bangalore. The band’s focus has been to create quality original music. The songs are generally contemplative and the music could be called heavy metal. Deepak usually composes the mu sic with the other members chipping in occassionally.

Currently they have nine songs in their kitty and many more still to come.
