Cradle Of Filth T-Shirt Gets Banned

According to Roadrunner Records U.K., merchandise company Blue Grape have had their printing plant refuse to handle the proposed artwork for the new CRADLE OF FILTH T-Shirt. The factory (TOT Shirts Ltd.) have been forced to reject the order since staff literally downed tools in disgust. The proposed artwork (see it here) features the image of a bare-breasted woman seemingly bleeding from between the legs and the band's logo on the front, with the words "You Gilded Cunt" on the reverse. Blue Grape have had huge demand for the T-shirt with worldwide orders flooding in. The company have no choice but to work on an alternative design.

The director of TOT Shirts Ltd. stated: "It is believed that the requested image and associated wording will cause offence to the general public and to our staff due to the controversial nature of the subject."

It wasn't long ago CRADLE OF FILTH found their fans the subject of a brush with the law for the now infamous "Jesus Is A Cunt" T-Shirt. Lord Provost of Glasgow demanded the shirts be removed by the police from Tower Records. The Catholic League of America, along with the Governor of Wisconsin, campaigned heartily for the shirt to be banned.

Further religious controversy is being fuelled by CRADLE OF FILTH's upcoming visit to Chile — where a Satanist teenager stabbed and murdered a priest. The promoters are having to bring in extra security for the backlash this has now created against the band and it seems CRADLE OF FILTH will not get the welcome to South America they had hoped for.

Over in the U.K., the "Gilded Cunt" track has been subject to the usual censorship only being allowed plays on radio post mid-night. Radio One's "Rock Show" have championed the track here, being careful to adhere to ITC rulings forbidding presenter Mike Davies from actually saying the "C" word whilst introducing the track… without a forewarning.

Ministry's Al Jourgensen Speaks To Chart Attack

You might notice something different about Ministry’s latest effort "Houses Of The Mole" (Sanctuary/EMI). It’s decidedly more aggressive and, dare we say — organic — than many of their past releases. Sure, it’s still incredibly industrial sounding, but thanks to a key personnel change (the departure of cohort Paul Barker) and a bit more anger at the world (as in, ranting for this whole damned interview about George W. Bush), "Houses Of The Mole" could very well be Ministry’s most influential, effective album to date.

ChartAttack: People are saying this is your strongest album in years. To what do you attribute that?
Al Jourgensen: The computers left with Paul. It was time to split up and we both knew it. Now I can get back to jamming out songs. It wasn’t that much of a difference aside from losing the computers. We got wasted, puked and came out with a record.

ChartAttack: Every song here starts off with "W." Something on your mind?
Al Jourgensen: George W. Bush is everywhere, so we figured we'd start out with "No W" and let him get all of the rest. I’m sick of Dubya, that’s all. The song "Wrong," "W T.V." is about this culture under George W’s stewardship. There’s plenty of railing against our government on this album.

ChartAttack: Do you like being the only industrial-tinged band on a punk compilation?
Al Jourgensen: I don’t care if it’s that or country and western; I’ll put time, money and energy into making sure this cowboy doesn’t get back into power. And his cronies… they’re cockroaches. You spray and spray, but they keep coming back. Hopefully we’ll call the right exterminator and get rid of ‘em forever.

Marilyn Manson Connects Iraq And Columbine

Manson equates Columbine with the Iraq War in one simple observation:

I've had my grasp on morals for some time since my dad's experience [in Vietnam], but also because I had to sit there and think 'Why is it OK that we're blowing the shit out of some other country and two kids blow up a high school?'" he says. "What's the difference? Because somebody says? At the end of the day it's all killing. You can drive yourself crazy in circles going round about that but it's... it would take an hour at least just to go down that path. I think art is your escape. That's what keeps me going.
