Maverick Forces Deftones To Remove Online Bootlegs
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno told MTV.com that the group were forced by their record label, Maverick Records, to take down more than 40 live bootlegs the band had posted on their web site in July. "I think Maverick got mad because they own all that music," Moreno said. "It was our idea to put it up there, but I think we were maybe supposed to ask permission of something." The 49 bootlegs of shows in 2000, 1995 and 1992 were available for free download on the band's site for several weeks but were removed approximately three weeks ago and replaced with a note reading: "Taken down for now ... sorry." Maverick did not authorize the posting of the songs, according to a label spokesperson.
The band are also kicking off new Euro and US tours and will be joined on various dates by Poison the Well, Clutch, Hoobastank, Thursday and Thrice. As a warm-up for their first solo North American dates in support of their self-titled album, the Deftones will kick off a European tour with A Perfect Circle and the Revolution Smile on Friday.

Site Update
Rock Me Like A Hurricane
As both Dark Icon and myself are in the path of hurricane Isabel, things may get quiet on metalunderground.com for a while. Hopefully we'll be alive, and the site will remain up, but we may not be able to post if we lose power for any length of time. Here's hoping we're online still tomorrow.
UPDATE: (Saturday Sept 20th) It figures the only thing I lost was my cable internet connection. I'm back up now, and news will resume. Hopefully we'll hear from Dark Icon by Monday.
Society 1 Is Dope
SOCIETY 1 will be teaming up with DOPE for the October leg of Dope's fall touring, a leg of touring that falls between SOCIETY 1's two fall tours with TWIZTID. Also appearing on select dates on the October tour will be KITTIE and SLAVES ON DOPE. Here are the first dates:
10/22 - Farmingdale, NY - The Downtown
10/26 - Baltimore, MD - Thunderdome (with SLAVES ON DOPE)
