Great White Drummer In Car Accident

GREAT WHITE drummer Derrick Pontier was involved in a three-car collision in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Saturday afternoon September 29, 2003 that left one woman in serious condition. Pontier was driving near a club in Allentown, where the band was scheduled to play a Station fire benefit concert, when Sandra Tepes, 56, from Whitehall Township crossed the center line and hit Pontier's car head-on, according to the police report.

Derek was hit head-on in a collision when a woman lost control of her car and crossed the center into oncoming traffic. Derek was on his way to meet with the band when he was struck, after which he was rear-ended from a car in his lane. The jaws-of-life had to be dispersed to cut Pontier out from his vehicle. Ozzy To Write Musical About Rasputin

OZZY OSBOURNE is penning a Broadway musical based on the eccentric Russian monk Rasputin. The project will be recorded by Osbourne and released independently of a record label. Osbourne parted ways with Epic records recently and along with his wife, Sharon Osbourne, has publicly commented on distate for labels at this point. Details on the Rasputin project will be forthcoming.

All due respect to Ozzy, but if you've ever seen "The Osbournes" or even him on stage, I can't imagine him sitting down to write an entire musical...

W.A.S.P. To Release Two-Part Concept Album

W.A.S.P. has resurfaced after a near-year of silence to announce the first details of its highly-anticipated dual album releases, slated for 2004 through Metal-Is/Sanctuary Records. Although early reports suggested that the new albums were to be released this October, the complexity of the as-yet-untitled project did not adhere to the original plan.

Once again recorded at frontman/composer Blackie Lawless’s Fort Apache Studios in Malibu, CA, and co-helmed by renowned producer Bill Metoyer, the album will be released in two parts. The first is scheduled for mid-February 2004, and the second, which continues the story of the first, is anticipated for an early May release.

Although the concept of the story is extremely complex & detailed, the poignant plotline expresses notions of lost innocence and the black undercurrent of mass media. Blackie states that the title of this work is not confirmed to be The Neon God, although the perplexing theme is integral to the plot.

The band’s lineup for the new albums remains Blackie Lawless on vocals & guitar, Frankie Banali on drums, Mike Duda on bass, and Darrell Roberts on lead guitar. This outing will also feature major orchestration as enhancement & depth to the subject matter.

In addition to a massive multi-legged world tour in the coming year, W.A.S.P. is anticipating releasing an in-depth ‘making of’ DVD later in 2004. The upcoming new albums are also planned to have massive multimedia tie-ins.

Death By Death By Stereo

A DEATH BY STEREO show in Blacksburg, Virgina turned tragic yesterday when six people fell from a third-story window at Blacksburg duplex. Roughly sixty people were inside the building during the show when some attendees became too rowdy (reportedly partaking in the "wall of death") and a window gave way, causing the people who were being pushed against the window to fall roughly 20 feet to a concrete patio below. Two people were airlifted to nearby hospitals, including a 19-year-old Virginia Tech student who later died. Several others were also injured during the fall. The duplex, often referred to as the Solar Haus, is frequently used as a venue for small musical events. The fire marshal and a local building inspector are currently investigating.

Meshuggah Start Writing New Album

MESHUGGAH left a message on their website indicating they have started writing material for their new album:

"We have also been working with the studio trying to get it ready for future recordings of Meshuggah. We have been trying out a whole bunch of different microphones for the drums, because this time we are planning to record the whole album in the studio, not just guitars and vocals.

Tomas and Fredrik is right now in Umea recording the Drumkit From Hell II, which is set to be released in the beginning of next year.

Sorry for this delay in updating you guys, but sometimes the summer "vacation" just grabs you by the balls and make you paralyzed and numb.

And yes, we have started writing songs for the new album!"
