End To a Fairweather Band

Washington DC's Fairweather are officially breaking up. During the past several years, the group has released two full-lengths and an EP with Equal Vision Records. Here's a portion of a statement made by band vocalist Jay Littleton on the decision:

"A few days ago Fairweather decided to stop being a band. It's a shame because this is the strongest incarnation of FW that I've had the opportunity to be a part of. Everyone in the band is one of my best friends and an incredible musician. However, there are those of us that aren't in the right place in our lives to continue working the way we've been working."

The group will play all booked shows, including their upcoming tour with Give Up The Ghost and others. Fairweather's final show will take place in November/early-December at St. Andrews Church in College Park, MD.

Continuing the saga of the Hell On Earth publicity stunt/controversy, the leader of the rock band Hell on Earth said Monday that an onstage suicide will be conducted during a private St. Petersburg concert this weekend in defiance of a new city law designed to stop the act.

"The show will go on," Billy Tourtelot said. "It will be available on the Internet and it will be in the city limits (of St. Petersburg)."

Earlier Monday, the St. Petersburg city council unanimously approved an emergency ordinance that makes it illegal to conduct a suicide for commercial or entertainment purposes, and to host, promote and sell tickets for such an event.
