Akercocke Unveil Choronzon Cover Art

The cover artwork for Akercocke's forthcoming CD, "Choronzon", has been posted online at this location. Photographed and designed by legendary U.K. rock photographer Fin Costello, the cover provides a glimpse into the dark, theatrical universe of Akercocke's gothic occult metal.

Costello was Akercocke's "first choice, no question", according to vocalist/guitarist Jason Mendonca. "We are all huge fans of Bauhaus and Rush... as well as Emperor and Suffocation," Mendonca proclaimed.

"Choronzon" was mixed at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Neil Kernon and is set for an October 20 European release (November 4 in the U.S.) through Earache Records.

Anata Complete Work on Third Album

Swedish death metallers Anata have completed work on their third full-length album, "Under A Stone With No Inscription", due in early 2004 through Earache Records imprint Wicked World.

According to an official press release, "The finished product is sure to confound notions of what death metal can be — with convulsive, stop/start structures, fluid, sprawling guitar work and enviably precise rhythms, 'Under A Stone...' is a complex beast that is unmistakably death metal, and yet gives most tech-noisecore bands a run for their money with its abrasive dissonance and disregard for convention."
