Madder Mortem Lose Two Members
According to their website, Madder Mortem have lost Eirik (guitarist, vocalist) and Paul (bass, vocals, keys, percussion). The site reports that “Paul wanted to quit in order to be able to concentrate on his son 100% and also live a more "normal" life compared to the rather "abnormal" Madder lifestyle. Although Paul has officially left the band he'll be doing a farewell gig with us at Elveblestivalen. This will also be the first gig for our new guitarist.
With Eirik we felt that it didn't work out like it should musically anymore, and it seemed like he didn't feel as comfortable playing in this band as much as the rest of us. We want to thank both Eirik and Paul for their hard work and dedication to this band for the last three years. Together we've experienced a lot. We have come far and we hope that you'll go even further with your future projects. Thank you for all the good times! More...

A Norwegian black metal musician who broke into a church mortuary and chopped off the head of a corpse in order to display it during a party was jailed for one year Monday (August 18), officials said.
Under the influence of both drink and cannabis, the 26-year-old — the former bassist for the band Svartahrid — had broken into a chapel with three friends as they were holding a party near the southeastern town of Skien on the night of June 14, the court heard.
Initially looking for valuables to steal, the group had noticed several coffins awaiting burial, and had proceeded to break open four of them.

Deicide Post New Album Artwork Online
Deicide have posted the cover artwork for their upcoming CD, "Scars Of The Crucifix", at this location. The band entered the studio on July 28 to begin recording the effort, the band's first since their split with longtime label Roadrunner Records. A late 2003 release through Earache Records is expected.
Speaking to Terrorizer magazine late last year, Deicide frontman Glen Benton said, "We've got more material than we know what to do with! Now we're doing records for us so it's back to the old thinking and the old ways of writing. We're writing to beat all — that's the way we do things. We're goin' back to our roots — who cares about musical logic? Fuck musical logic."

Vile Split with Strong, Look for Replacement
Californian brutal death metallers Vile have announced the departure of longtime guitarist Aaron Strong. "Our last tour was quite successful and hinted at what the future holds for Vile," reads a post on the band's web site. "It was this realization that caused vocalist Juan Urteaga and now Aaron Strong to leave their positions in the band.
"It becomes more and more obvious as time goes on that playing this music is a lifestyle and not just a pastime. As the band becomes more popular the demand on the musicians becomes higher. The band must come before EVERYTHING to make this work. People that are not committed to making this project the number one priority in their lives, eventually must leave the band. We will surely miss the talented contributions of these two members. More...
