Strapping Young Lad, Opeth Performances Streamed

Hultsred.tv has posted full-length videos of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and OPETH's live performances from this year's Hultsfred Festival in streaming Windows Media format

Lord Belial Recording New Album

Swedish black metallers Lord Belial have entered Los Angered Recording in Angered (Gothenburg), Sweden to begin recording their new album, tentatively titled "The Seal Of Belial". The self-produced effort will be engineered by Nicklas Rudolfsson and Andy La Rocque (King Diamond), and will be mixed by Andy. Drums, rhythm guitars and some overdubs are already finished, according to a post on the band's web site. A late 2003/early 2004 release through Regain Records is expected.

To/Die/For Lose Vocalist

Nuclear Blast Germany has received the following update from To/Die/For regarding the departure of vocalist Jape Peratalo. “We've come to the point where we didn't expect to come. Jape decided to end his career in To/Die/For. He told us that he had no more motivation to go on with the band. We wish him good luck in whatever he is going to do. Thanks for great times with the band. We are definitely going to continue the band as To/Die/For. Now it's time for us to look for a new singer who can fill the huge hole which Jape left.”

Morbid Records Update

Albums due out this fall from Morbid Records include Prostitute Disfigurement’s Deeds Of Derangement (featuring a real drummer) and Harmony Dies’ Impact (produced by Golem’s Mr. Hilbert).

Morbid will also issue their 100th release, The Morbid Two, a compilation album featuring exclusive tracks from Virulence, Profanation, Obscenity, Mucupurulent, Lividity, Impetigo, Hypnos, Hellblazer, Haemorrhage, Disinter and Ashes You Leave, plus some current tracks from the other Morbid bands as well as four bonus tracks. Anata to Release New Album in October

Swedish death metallers Anata have set "Under A Stone With No Inscription" as the title for their third full-length album, due on October 6 through Earache/Wicked World Records. The 10-song effort was recorded and mixed in the spring at Studio Mega studios in Bollebygd and was mastered earlier this summer at Digitalfabriken in Gothenburg. Anata's last studio album, "Dreams Of Death And Dismay", was released in 2001 via Season Of Mist Records in Europe and Relapse Records in North America

Entombed Rocking out "Inferno" jukebox

An Entombed "jukebox", featuring music from their current CD, "Inferno", can be accessed at this location. As previously reported, "Inferno" will not receive a U.S. release until early 2004 through Century Media Records after it was determined that Koch International, who originally issued the album in late June, didn't have the proper rights to release the CD in the North American territory. However, fans interested in purchasing the album will be able to do so during the band's upcoming tour with King Diamond, which is scheduled to kick off on October 18 in Los Angeles.

Charon Change Name of Upcoming Album

Finland's Charon have changed the title for their forthcoming fourth full-length album to "The Dying Daylights" from the originally announced "Dead Man Walking". The follow-up to last year's "Downhearted" is due on October 6 through Spinefarm Records. A new single containing the song "Religious/Delicious" and the non-album cut "The King Is Dead" will be released on September 1.

"The Dying Daylights" was recorded at BRR Studios in the group's hometown of Raahe and was mixed at Helsinki's Finnvox Studios. The album includes a guest appearance on backing vocals by Nightwish/ex-Sinergy bassist Marco Hietala and Jenny Heinonen. The latter had performed a similar role on the group's last two albums, "Downhearted" and 2000's "Tearstained".

The Kovenant Set Tentative Title for new Album

Norway's The Kovenant have set "The Dreaming Spires" as the tentative title for their forthcoming album, due in early 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to this year's "S.E.T.I." (Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence) will apparently be "more guitar-oriented and darker" than its predecessor. Among the tracks set to appear on the CD is "Radiation King".

As previously reported, The Kovenant recently added two new members to the group's lineup: RAM-ZET drummer Küth and Apoptygma Berzerk keyboardist Geir Bratland. The band will headline the "Pain Stage" at this year's Summer Breeze festival on Aug. 22 in Abtsgmünd, Germany.

Entwine to Record New Album in Sept.

Finnish goth-metallers Entwine will enter Astia Studios in Lappeenranta, Finland in September with producer Anssi Kippo to record the follow-up to 2002's "Time Of Despair", due in early 2004 through Century Media Records. Unlike the group's previous releases, the as-yet-untitled effort will be mixed at Finnvox studios in Helsinki with Mikko Karmila, according to a post on the band's web site.

Headline News

Pushed Breaks Up

San Diego's Pushed, featuring ex-Slayer drummer Jon Dette, and ex-Testament bassist Greg Christian have broken up. The Jagermeister sponsored band that was touted to land a spot on this Fall's Jagermeister 2003 tour have split due to creative differences. The band was also scheduled to played this year's Dwell in Darkness.

Guitarists, JP and Joe, are forming a new project, and that is something to be sure to look out for, but lead singer Travis Neal is actively looking for a new band to join.
