Entombed Plan for Early 2004 Inferno Release

Entombed have set an August 6 European release date through Music For Nations Records for their eighth full-length album, "Inferno". The follow-up to 2001's "Morning Star" was released in the U.S. in late June through Koch International, but was pulled from the shelves after it was determined that the label hadn't secured the proper rights to issue the album. "[Koch released the CD] without letting the band know, and without having a contract signed for the record," reads a post on Entombed's web site. "It is not really Koch International's fault, as [Music For Nations] gave them the album in belief that it was the right thing to do. The album has been pulled back in the States, and will be released in the beginning of next year by [the band's own] Threeman Recordings through Century Media Records USA."

In other news, the band have outlined their touring plans for the rest of the year. "In September the band will do shows in Sweden and Finland. In October/ November, it seems like Entombed will open up for King Diamond in the States. And in December the band will do more shows in Scandinavia. We will try to cover Europe as well at some point."

Runemagick Part with Guitarist

Swedish "dark death metal" act Runemagick have parted ways with second guitarist Tomas Eriksson.

"Tomas has decided to leave Runemagick, maybe just for a while or forever... He feels that he must quit everything to gather new inspiration and try to get the feeling back. We wish him all the best and thanks him very much for his time with Runemagick so far. This will not be any problems for Runemagick! Will continue as a strong 3-piece lineup as we did on [the last CD] 'Darkness Death Doom'. So await a new monument of death and doom next year."

Impaled Back In Business

After signing a worldwide deal with Century Media Records, the Bay Area’s demented, maniacal surgeons known as Impaled are back in business and more bloodthirsty than ever before. The announcement comes on the heels of the success of their well-received album, Mondo Medicale, and on the eve of the release of a groundbreaking conceptual split-CD release with the Spanish stalwarts of gore, Haemmorhage. When reached for comment, Sean McGrath (guitar and vocals) had this to say: “We’re very happy to be working with a label with such a good reputation and with an obvious commitment to releasing quality material by the best bands in the business.” McGrath then sped off in his brand new Lotus, which bore a vanity license plate that read FUHKOFF.

A blindly optimistic Raul Varela (drums), apparently unaware of the history of his own band, was quoted as saying: “We are ready for this deal, and are very excited to start working on a new album and future tours all over the world and adjacent planets. I'm sure Century Media will help take us to the next level and we'll have the chance to show all the non-believers what Impaled are capable of doing with the support and professionalism of a real label behind us.” He then lit a Cuban cigar with a flaming copy of Action Comics #1.
