Madder Mortem Lose Two Members

According to their website, Madder Mortem have lost Eirik (guitarist, vocalist) and Paul (bass, vocals, keys, percussion). The site reports that “Paul wanted to quit in order to be able to concentrate on his son 100% and also live a more "normal" life compared to the rather "abnormal" Madder lifestyle. Although Paul has officially left the band he'll be doing a farewell gig with us at Elveblestivalen. This will also be the first gig for our new guitarist.

With Eirik we felt that it didn't work out like it should musically anymore, and it seemed like he didn't feel as comfortable playing in this band as much as the rest of us. We want to thank both Eirik and Paul for their hard work and dedication to this band for the last three years. Together we've experienced a lot. We have come far and we hope that you'll go even further with your future projects. Thank you for all the good times!

Agnete (vocals), BP (guitars, voice, percussion) and Mads (drums, vocals, percussion).”

The site added: “With Eirik and Paul leaving Madder, you'd might expect that we'd take a long break to get new members, or even break up for good. That's not gonna happen! The Madders are alive and already kicking it with a new guitarist and bass player, writing songs for the upcoming Madder album. We have a new groove within the band and we're going to give the next album 150% priority until we're done with it! The names of the new guitar player and bassist will be announced shortly, we just want to get some photos taken, so that you can see their incredibly handsome faces :)”

Here is Paul's (Pål Mozart Bjørke) statement on leaving Madder Mortem

“In the end of June, shortly after the Mexico-gig, I decided to quit Madder Mortem. The reason why is because I want to spend more time with my son and I plan to start some studies. I am pretty sure that MM will grow so I believe this was the right point of time to boat the oars. I will still be in musical activity, but in a lesser degree than earlier. I will participate in the writing and the recording of the Frantic Bleep debut. I will also (most probably) do something with The Kirkevaag's in the future. I want to thank BP, Agnete, Eirik and Mads for three great years, for the

All Flesh Is Grass and Deadlands albums, for 70 gigs together, the tours, the festivals and most important for the close friendship. Greetings to the bands and people I have met. Special greetings to OPETH and to the guys at Studio Underground. I wish Madder Mortem all the best in the future, good luck with your new album and your new lineup. May you conquer the world! You deserve it!”
