Stereomud Guitarist In New Band, Five Year Stare

Former STEREOMUD guitarist John Fattoruso is currently in the process of writing material for a brand new project called FIVE YEAR STARE. Joining Fattoruso in the new band is former OUT OF BODY drummer Chris Hermmans. Fattoruso and Hermmans are currently seeking a bass player and singer while they continue to write and record new songs. The group's musical direction is being described as "a lot heavier than STEREOMUD" but without sacrificing the melodic edge.

STEREOMUD, which featured in its ranks former members of LIFE OF AGONY and STUCK MOJO, split up in June 2003 following the disappointing sales performance of the band's sophomore effort, "Every Given Moment". The group's debut album, "Perfect Self", was released in 2001.

Neaera To Defy Categorization On Upcoming CD

Münster, Germany-based metalcore act Neaera will enter Stage One Studios in Bühne, Germany in November with producer Andy Classen to record their debut album, tentatively due in early 2005 through Metal Blade Records. "We have taken some time to once more go over one or two passages in the lyrics and over some riffs in the songs, and we think at this point, after some long days inside the rehearsing room and endless discussions, it is safe to say that we have now agreed on 11 tracks which we are going to record in November," the band write on their web site. "The songs will consist mostly of (Swedish) death metal riffs, but they will also contain mosh parts and even some melodic black metal passages, but hey, you'll see (and hear) the result when it comes out! All we can say is that we can't wait to present our stuff to you people out there and that we hope you're gonna be into it! We really don't care what you call our sound, metalcore, melodic death metal, whatever, we just want to play concerts in front of people who like our music and can draw something from it for themselves, hopefully something positive!"

A demo recording of a new Neaera track, entitled "Broken Spine", can currently be downloaded from the group's web site at this location.

Antiproduct Singer Speaks To Skiddle

Chay from Skiddle interviewed Antiproduct singer, Alex Kane, when they were backstage at the Wickerman Festival. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

C: Dream festival bill (pick 5 bands):

A: Us, Kiss, Abba, Slayer, and Boyzone, so we could all beat them up. Get rid of them once and for all.

C: With Kiss, is it all about the glam?

A: Not really I just think that we’re a combo of Kiss and Abba with bits of and Slayer thrown in there. But I don’t like to point it out, where I steal all the tunes from. Kiss. Slayer. Abba. Throw them in a big flesh-grinder thing and you get us.

C: Favourite festival memory.

A: When we started the riot at ‘The Gods of Milan’ I liked that. We played this metal festival with a bunch of bands; I don’t wanna be weird but….

C: Describe the Wickerman Festival in 10 words.

A: Friendly, wasted, fire, toilet, (walking up to a surprisingly beautiful security guard), blue, hair, gorgeous, fingernails, walkie-talkie.
