New Angel Dust Lineup Revealed

Running Wild guitarist Bernd Aufermann has posted the following message on his web site:

"It's been a long time since you heard from me. During the last months I went through heavy seas with my family. My dad (you are the greatest) was found having a brain tumor. Out of nothing, out of the best life you can imagine. Things are not the same anymore so I got to have the time off to catch my breath and keep coming back to my life again. I was shocked and could not work since dad & me are tight and I still gotta cope this terrible situation.

"But now, slightly coming back to live, I have some news for ya:

"Angel Dust: Yup, we are back together again. Line up is Dirk Thurisch (vocals), Steven Banx (keyboards), Dirk (Assy) Assmuth (drums), bass player T.B.A. We wrote three songs so far and have lots of ideas. Looks like we'll release a very special bonus CD incl unreleased stuff plus old (very old) material plus 2-3 new tracks. A new CD will be out in 2005!!! Looking forward, rehearsals are great, we have lots of fun and enjoy ourselves. We got a lot of offers to play and we'll be checking out stuff/offers these days. Best offer was to play a U.S. reunion show at the U.S. ProgPower Festival in Atlanta..... VOTE FOR KERRY AND WE'LL COME.. haha!!!!"

The Provenance Set Release Date

The Provenance new album "How Would You Like to be Spat At" is a 53 minute struggle with life and all its dark features. One can only imagine the horror of being raped, beaten and sexually humiliated though this is exactly what The Provenance manages to portrait on this album.

Recorded in the prominent “Gesperrt Studios” over a period of two months the production of the album can be described with words like pure and simplified although it most definitely contains no shortage in details, or roughness for that matter.

The sound is more elaborate than ever before and The Provenance has once again managed to renew them themselves in splendid manners.

One can only take so much; a straightforward saying that The Provenance, on this their third full-length album, surely has taken to heart and thus created a devastating album. Having written ten so brutally honest and rigid songs The Provenance will take us to the outskirts of civilized society, a society where men are constantly at the brink of insanity. The Provenance has ceased to look for any kind of hope and instead invested in the corrupt and undisputedly agonizing relations in which man too often is forced to partake.

Fortunately The Provenance has turned left with this revolutionary piece of work and will therefore never experience the dread of being right!

News On New Antimatter Album

Antimatter have set "Planetary Confinement" as the title of their third album, tentatively due in February.

"The album is acoustic-based, and will have a much more organic feel than 'Saviour' or 'Lights Out,' this time featuring natural strings, piano and drums," reads a posting on the group's web site. "Some of Duncan's [Patterson] recordings will be of interest as one is a track that was originally intended for 'Alternative 4'. Anathema fans will also notice 'Eternity Part 24,' which is a modern version of 'Eternity Part 4.' Duncan and Mick worked seperately in their home countries for this release, involving local musicians.

"Duncan is currently mixing the Irish sessions for the album. Confirmed song titles are 'Line Of Fire', 'Planetary Confinement', 'Relapse', 'Mr. White' and 'Eternity Part 24'. The sessions will feature guest performances from local Irish musicians.

"Recording and mixing is now complete for the English half of the album. Mick recorded four tracks in mid-July ('A Portrait Of The Young Man As An Artist', 'Legions', 'The Weight Of The World' and 'Epitaph'), choosing to abandon all electronica and produce an all-natural session, complete with live drums and violins, the latter performed by Rachel Brewster of Liverpool band Marlowe. Recording took place in Studio 33, Liverpool and was engineered by Ronnie O'Keefe."

Scott Weiland Slams CLASSIC ROCK Magazine Writer

Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has posted the following message on the group's web site:

"To Jeffy: Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the shark-infested waters of the once respected world of rock and roll journalism, I meet Jeffy. At the end of the interview, I give him a rare compliment about the integrity of his magazine, saying how much I like Classic Rock; it's an actual music magazine for music fans. Jeffy took this as a sign of weakness. He uses it as my final quote to close his piece on me, alleging that due to my 'nice boy' demeanor, I must not be quite the legend that he was hoping to talk to. I live my life: 'musician', 'junkie', 'artist', 'friend', 'ex-felon', 'father', 'husband', 'rock star'. Who are you? A man so desperate to take a sincere rare compliment after the completion of an interview and use it against me? I still like Classic Rock magazine, and Ross Halfin, legendary photographer, way out of your league, but as for you? Where's that fucking fly swatter?"

Bruce Dickinson: Pilot Of The Airwaves

Metal legend Bruce Dickinson has more talents than you might expect. Not only does he front one of the most successful heavy-metals bands of all time — Iron Maiden — but he's also an author of two books (on a cross-dressing 18th century toff, as it happens), a competing fencer who was once rated fourth in Britain, and a pilot.

Now he's added yet another string to his bow — or should that be electric guitar? — by becoming a radio DJ for digital station 6Music.

"I love doing the show and it's turned out really successful for us," he enthuses. "We can play whatever the hell we want and mix everything from Alice Cooper to more modern bands like Viking Skull."

Bizarrely, Bruce manages to fit his radio show in between touring the world with Maiden (selling 60m records in the process) and flying passengers around the globe as a pilot for a commercial airline.

"At the moment I'm flying planes full-time and it's now my proper day job until the Maiden tour next year.

"A few months ago I was flying overnight for seven hours to Africa. It was around midnight when the captain leaned over to me and quite unexpectedly showered me with vomit — so I had to spend the next five hours covered in it.

"It was then that I thought to myself, not even in my worst days in rock 'n' roll has anyone ever been sick on me. Sometimes flying airplanes is actually more rock 'n' roll than being in a band."

Limp Bizkit 'Heading North' To Record New Album

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has posted the following message on the band's web site:

"We're packing up and heading north to record a new album. Los Angeles is too comfortable for us, so we have to leave our everyday lives behind. This music is hungry for our blood, and we have to feed it what it wants. The gear's in the road cases, the trucks are being loaded, and the absentee ballots are in the mail. We have about two months before the holidays hit. Do you think we can hammer it out before Christmas? We'll see. Let's get down to brass tacks here. I've been gone for a long time. I don't regret anything that's happened over the past 3 years. It couldn't have happened any other way. I had some time to explore some other things, and after searching I came to the conclusion that this band was not an accident. There is a chemistry here that I haven't found anywhere else. There's an intention and an electricity that exists which is bigger than the individual members, despite their differences. We're very excited about the music we are writing at the moment, and we are very grateful that we get the chance to do this again with our friend Ross Robinson on board. We'll be updating the site more and more as the record progresses, and posting new pictures from the studio as we take them. The amount of support from the fans of this band is staggering. I can't wait to get back out on the road next year. I'm picking up my suitcase and walking out the door."

Lamb Of God Doing Their Bit For Democracy

Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler has told Vancouver's Straight.com that he and his bandmates have been paying close attention to the presidential debates of the past few weeks. What they've seen isn't going to change their votes, though, mostly because they've already done their bit for democracy. Adler, singer Randy Blythe, guitarists Willie Adler and Mark Morton, and bassist John Campbell, all filled out absentee ballots before they left their home state of Virginia for their current North American tour. Asked who they supported, the articulate and thoughtful Chris politely takes the Fifth.

"That's an interesting question to ask, and I'm not necessarily going to answer it," said the timekeeper, on the line from a Whistler, Massachusetts tour stop. "I'm only opposed to telling you because recently we've been getting a lot of politically themed questions. I guess that's to be expected, because that's what we write about. But our lyrics don't tell people to vote for George Bush, or John Kerry, or Ralph Nader — we're saying to people, 'Think for yourself.' And I'd rather that people do that when they go to the polls."

Ex-P.O.D. Guitarist Battling Over Royalties

Former P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel has told MTV.com that he is currently involved in a legal dispute with his former bandmates over songwriting royalties.

"[They're saying,] 'These songs don't belong to you anymore, they belong to P.O.D.,' " Curiel said. "I'm like, 'No, dude, I wrote those songs.' And you can tell by their sound — it's not the same anymore."

When Marcos Curiel formed his new band, The Accident Experiment, it was meant to be a P.O.D. side project. Two years and one ugly breakup later, the band could more accurately be described as the antithesis of P.O.D.

"I had some great times in [P.O.D.], but the thing that really irked me was that every day we would talk about, 'Yeah, we're real. We're positive,' " said the guitarist. "But if every song is positive, that's not real. 'Cause no one in life walks around with a smile on their face nonstop. There's ups and downs, and I just wanted to be, 'Let's write about the moment.' "

Ozzy Osbourne Has Been Clean For Six Months

ABC ePrep is reporting that Ozzy Osbourne has been clean of recreational drugs and alcohol for six months, thanks to a 12-step program. He told "Access Hollywood"'s Billy Bush that it's really made a difference for his family, too. Ozzy explained, "I'm going to these meetings that they have. I'm back on track and my kids are. Jack's on a program, and Kelly's doing (well). You've come at a good time in the... life of the Osbournes, everyone's clean."

Next week, MTV will bow the new reality show "Battle for Ozzfest", where Ozzy and wife/manager Sharon will evaluate bands competing for a chance to play on the 2005 tour. In January, the network will premiere the fourth and final season of "The Osbournes".

Into The Moat Apologize For Cancelled Show

Into the Moat update from Matthew:

Sorry for all of the confusion with the October 30th show. Now it seems that it's not happening at all. Apparently the venue double-booked that night with a ska show, and they're doing that one instead. Who the hell even still listens to ska anyway? I mean seriously. I know the other bands on the show are looking for new venue, but honestly, we need that extra weekend to record anyway. So sorry for the confusion, we'll be back ASAP to play some shows and make this one up to everyone. Take it easy, wish us luck on the recording and have a happy Halloween. Candy rules.

All of us are really excited to finally be recording the album, and we look forward to seeing all of you on tour soon.

YOB Comment On The Accused Show

YOB update from Mike:

YOB just had the privilege to play with one of the greatest crossover bands of all time, The Accused, in Portland, Oregon on October 15th. It was a packed show at Dante's in the downtown area. YOB opened with show and played a great set! Our setlist: 1) Quantum Mystic (a new song), two songs from our new cd 2) Ball Of Molten Lead and 3) Exorcism Of The Host, and 4) the middle to the end of the song Catharsis from our last album. Our set went over really well! The next up was Winter Of Apokalype which is three-fourths Thy Infernal. WoA are ripping black metal in the vein of early Mayhem and Burzum. They destroyed the audience with their dark soul-foul hymns! The Accused completely ruled! They were just as good as they have ever been with Blaine jumping all over the stage in convulsive bouts of zombie punk insanity. They were super great people to hang out with too and they were very gracious to YOB and their fans.

YOB has also launched our new merchandise section at our website! You can buy shirts, CD's, buttons and stickers in a shopping cart format with secure online visa and MasterCard transactions! Go here to check it out!

Stay HEAVY!!! DOOM!!! From Mike-slave to YOB!!!
