Lost Horizon Seeks New Singer
As many have surely heard, the label Music For Nations no longer exists. This is an effect of the merger between Zomba, who owned MFN, and BMG. Consequently Lost Horizon has been released from their contract, and they are now free to negotiate with other labels.
In relation to this, vocalist Daniel Heiman and guitarist Fredrik Olsson announced their leave from Lost Horizon in order to pursue other projects. Since they have been pulling in a different direction than the rest of the band for some time, all six agree that this is the best solution.
The remainder of the band Wojtek Lisicki, who only just returned to Lost Horizon, Christian Nyquist, Attila Publik and Martin Furängen, will continue the magic voyage – back from where they started out in 1998. Work on the third Lost Horizon album is under way, and already more than half of the material has been completed.
If you who read this, know that you are the coming world-class singer of Lost Horizon, do not hesitate to send a sample of your work (either as mp3 or write to ask for an address).
Lost horizon has already received offers from several labels, and other interested parties are welcome to approach us.
A new era has begun!
And at last – Lost Horizon can savour the luxury of not being stressed!

Münster, Germany-based metalcore act Neaera have set "The Rising Tide of Oblivion" as the title of their debut album, tentatively due in early 2005 through Metal Blade Records. The CD will be recorded at Stage One Studios in Bühne, Germany in November with producer Andy Classen and will feature 11 songs composed "mostly of (Swedish) death metal riffs, but they will also contain mosh parts and even some melodic black metal passages," according to a posting on the group's web site. The artwork for the album will be designed by art student Martin Grossmann from Steinfurt. "We don't want to give away too much at this point, all we can tell by now is that the ideas and concepts we have seen so far look more than promising," the band write. A demo recording of a new Neaera track, entitled "Broken Spine," can currently be downloaded here.
Neaera will be teaming up with Devil Ate My Son for a short Austrian tour in early January. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

Mayhem Documentary Maker Planning Sequel
A sequel to the acclaimed Norwegian/Swedish documentary "Cult of Aggression", focusing on the Norwegian black metal pioneers MAYHEM, is currently in the works.
"The first documentary about MAYHEM, 'Cult of Aggression', was about their history — mainly about their music, but, of course, if a band has such a bloody history as MAYHEM, you can't [leave] that out of the documentary," the film's director, Stefan Rydehed of Strym Productions, told Blabbermouth.net.
"'Cult of Aggression' was mainly with Manheim and Necro Butcher but had a few parts about Dead when I used a voice-over and some folks who lived in Kråkstad when the band had their rehersal/livingplace there," Rydehed continued.
"The new version of [the film], which will be totally new except Manheim's part, will still focus about the music, events, albums, members and sessionmembers and people who have been involved in the scene. So it will be a pretty huge documentary. Still underground!"
The original "Cult of Aggression" film received its world premiere earlier this year at the Oslo Filmfestival, where it was shown twice. Copies of the film can be ordered from Metallian Videos at this location.
More information about "Cult of Aggression" and its sequel can be obtained by writing to Stefan Rydehed at rydehed@hotmail.com.
Pantheon I New Songs Available For Download
PANTHEON I, the Norwegian extreme metal band featuring vocalist/guitarist Andrè Kvebek (1349), guitarist John Espen Sagstad (ABIOTIC) and drummer Eirik Renton (SARKOM), have uploaded two songs from their upcoming full-length debut, "Atrocity Divine", at their official web site. Check out the songs "Transgression" and "Silent Massacre" at this location.
In a recent interview with Vampire-Magazine.com, Sagstad had the following to say about the upcoming release: "This recording consists of 11 brand new songs, and we are at the moment looking for a label who will finance this release! We are very excited about this release because it’s turned out to be even better than we had ever imagined. Gunhild [Mathea Olaussen, violin], Live [Julianne Kostøl, cello] and Tor [Risdal Stavenes, a.k.a. Seidemann, bass]) have given PANTHEON I a facelift, and I assure you that this album will kick ASS!"
PANTHEON I had previously released a four-song demo, titled "MMIII", in April 2003. A limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single — which includes the tracks "Is This A Prophecy?" and "Transparent" — was recently made available via the group's official website.
Deicide Joined By Former Cannibal Corpse Guitarist
On the eve of their forthcoming European tour, DEICIDE have been forced to rearrange the first three dates whilst last minute stand-in Jack Owen (formerly of CANNIBAL CORPSE) gets up to speed with the formidable DEICIDE back catalogue in order to fill in on live guitar duties. Showing true death metal solidarity, Jack has stepped up to the plate to cover for long term guitarist Brian Hoffman who is unable to play on the tour for unavoidable personal reasons. DEICIDE's first European show featuring Jack is now at Havana in Toulouse on Tuesday, November 2.
Fans need not be disappointed, because the three affected shows, in Hassalt, Haarlem and Paris, have all been rescheduled for the end of the tour, which will now take shape as follows. Original tickets are of course valid for the rescheduled dates.

Vehemence Forced To Skip Toronto Show
Due to circumstances beyond their control, Arizona-based melodic death metallers Vehemence were unable to play their previously announced Toronto show at Club Rockit on Wednesday, October 27. "Big disappointment for us, as this is our second Toronto show we were unable to play," the band said in a statement. "Last time our vocalist Nathan got really sick on tour and we had to cancel our remaining dates. This time is more about the politics, lack of extra fee notice, and how fucking hard Canada makes it to get into their country to just play a show. We are extremely sorry to any fans we might have let down. 'Till next time. We will tour in Canada in due time. This is by far the best tour we have been on. Cheers to all in Mortician, Akercocke, and all the opening acts that we performed with."
Vehemence are touring in support of their third studio album, "Helping The World To See", available now through Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2002's "God Was Created" was produced by Will Solares and Vehemence at Open Primary Productions/DBD Studios in Maricopa, Arizona. Mixing duties were handled by Will Solares. Artwork was conceived by Wes Benscoter.
Internal Bleeding Guitarist Chris Pervelis is back
Long Island, NY-based death metallers Internal Bleeding have been rejoined by founding guitarist Chris Pervelis following the exit of Frank Buffalino.
Commented lead singer Jerry Lowe: "As most people know Chris left the band physically last may. On every other level Chris has been there for us, so it seems only right that he rejoins the band and will be playing live performances immediately or as soon as they are available. We are happy to welcome him back."
Chris elaborated on the reasons for his return: "I tried. I really tried to walk away from Internal Bleeding, but I couldn’t. I missed my brothers in the band, I missed writing the music, I missed having a platform on which to speak about my views and most of all, I felt completely dead inside. It's good to be back and I am looking forward to once again contributing to our long, proud history."
Internal Bleeding's latest CD, "Onward to Mecca", was released last month via Olympic Recordings. The group's first studio release in five years was recorded at Full Force Studios and engineered by Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation). The follow-up to 1999's "Driven to Conquer" marks the recording debut with the band of new singer Jerry Lowe (ex-Bodyfarm).

Pain Confessor 'Lake Of Regret' Video Online
Finnish metallers Pain Confessorhave uploaded their video for the track "Lake of Regret" at this location.
The "Lake of Regret" clip was directed by Vesa Vainio of Vasara Productions, who have previously worked with Mokoma, "one of the best thrashy metal acts hailing from Finland," according to a posting on Pain Confessor's web site.
"Lake of Regret" comes off Pain Confessor's debut album, "Turmoil", available now through Megamania Records.
Pain Confessor, who feature former members of such groups as A.R.G., Jane Doe 69 and Nonsliplevel, play "melodic metal with clean and death metal vocals mixing various metal sub-genre influences into their unique style," according to an official press release. "Lots of guitar and vocal harmonies intertwine with atmospheric keyboards and tight rhythms. This is thrashy metal but there are no limits to the band's musical expression and imagination."
Mesmerize Finish Recording New Album
Italian traditional heavy metallers Mesmerize have completed the recording process for their fourth album, tentatively due in February 2005 through Dragonheart Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Off the Beaten Path" is being recorded in part at drummer Andrea Garavaglia's Octopussy studio with engineer Giovanni Spinotti, who has previously worked with Labyrinth. Songtitles set to appear on the as-yet-untitled album include "The Burn", "Princess of the Wolves", "Bitter Crop", "Hot Lead, Cold Steel", "Field of Heroes", "Bloody Mary", "Best Place for a Knife", "Windchaser", "Triumph of the Darksword", "Lure of the Temptress" and "Monkeys In Sunday Best".
"We had the pleasure to have a talented young violinist, Vito Gatto, record some great melodies that really enrichen the sound of four songs," the band write on their web site.
"We're beginning the final remix just this week; we're gonna have a forced break next week, so we're planning to have the final result by mid-November. After that, the mix has to be mastered, so we should be able to deliver the finished work to Dragonheart by late November; if everything goes smoothly the album will be released around February.
"We are still working on the cover concept that will also influence the album title, which still has to be decided."
Interview
Interview With Children Of Bodom's Henkka
On October 26th, I had the pleasure of interviewing the bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith from one of my favourite bands, Finland's Children of Bodom. I brought my friend Jen along to sort of help out. And I gotta say Henkka was really nice and was cool enough to put up with our strange sense of humour, though he may have been weirded out a bit. My apologies if some of my questions may seem rather stupid and redundant but I've been suffering from major sleep deprivation due to the late-night cramming sessions. More...

Fear Factory, Lamb of God Vancouver Show Report
Being one of my favourite bands, the minute I found out that Children of Bodom was coming to town again, I thought to myself that I definitely had to go see them this time. And not only did I get to see them live, I also got to interview their bass player, Henkka. I was supposed to interview Mark Morton from Lamb of God too. But unfortunately, due to some complications, I was unable to.
The doors to the Commodore Ballroom opened at 7. Throwdown went on stage at 7:45. They weren't bad for an opening band. I was impressed by how much energy they've got and how they got everyone jumping up and down in the circle pit they've created. Rumour has it that there are tires under the floor of the Commodore so that it adds bounce...or something like that. More...
