Behemoth Singer Issues An Update From The Road

BEHEMOTH's mainman Nergal has issued the following update regarding their European tour that kicked off a week ago in the Netherlands:

"Hey all there! I'm proud to say that the tour is moving on with no bigger problems. We've just done London which was simply great. It seems like playing this city is like playing Warsaw, ha ha...thank u friends for showing up. Dublin...well, I wish the show itself could have been better...many stage problems pissed us off from the moment we stepped on the stage but the crowd didn't care much. They went totally nuts...it was a blast! Many Polish friends made this evening a very memorable...then Manchester...I must say I am SOOOO sorry bout canceling this show. We've never played there before and we were really looking forward to it. But the whole situation sucked from the very beginning. I wish people could understand that we also have our demands and when they face totally amateurish promoters, it may end like this. We had no other choice than leave. Nijmigeen, Holland was fuckin killer...and it seems like all Dutch venues we blast in that tour. I love that country...thank u all out there for your support and all the promoters for professional work. we WILL be back as soon we can! That is a promise!"

Also, here is the press statement from Behemoth's tour manager about the cancellation of the Manchester show: More...

Darkane Drummer Joins Laid-Back Rock N Roll Band

MeinlCymbals.com recently spoke to Darkane drummer Peter Wildoer to get an update on both his and the band's activities:

I had to take a long break from November last year until July this summer," says Peter. "This was because I've had problems with my wrists since February 2003. After this long break I started feeling better. In July we've rehearsed again for the first time since November. Later that month we played one gig at local festival and my wrists were feeling much better. We finished writing the last songs for the new album and in September I started rehearsing the new tracks for the upcoming CD. Soon I will start to record the drums for the new and as of yet, untitled CD. Planned release will be in May 2005. This time we will record everything in Darkane's own studio. Nice to be able to take it easy. Hopefully I'm in great shape again and I'm looking forward to laying down some crazy metal drumming.

I've also recorded ten tracks with a band called Ben that I'm now also a permanent member of. The musical style of the band is a kind of very laid-back rock'n' roll and is far away from Darkane's sound. All basic tracks have been recorded live and much of the stuff has been played with rods and brushes. This will be stuff that people who know my drumming won't expect from me. Planned release for the Ben CD is spring/summer 2005. On November 6th Darkane will perform a live gig at the Danish Aalborg Metal Festival. I will also do a clinic in the festival area. Be sure to be there both for the clinic and the gig!

Kittie's Morgan: "Our Albums Speak For Themselves"

The Western Courier's "The Edge" recently spoke with Kittie frontwoman Morgan Lander about the band's "Metal Movement Tour", its origins, and the current state of heavy metal. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

Edge: You guys are on the "Metal Movement" tour right now with Otep and Crisis. How did the idea for this tour come about?

Morgan Lander: "It was an idea we had to put together a package tour with two other female-fronted heavy metal bands. It's not really to make a statement or anything like that, it's just something that I don't think has ever been done before. I don't think there's been a tour that has had all female-fronted heavy metal bands. Most of the local bands on the bill are (female-fronted) as well.

"It seems to be working out really, really well. It's a great opportunity to come out and see some bands that you haven't seen before. If you're curious about women in heavy metal bands, you might be pleasantly surprised. It's not so much a statement as it is just to make people realize that there's so much equality in what we do."

Birds Of A Feather Sing Death Metal Together

The following article has been written for SFGate.com:

They are Blake, Mark and Waldo. A couple of years ago, they got together and formed a heavy metal band. This spring, they released their first record, "Beak of Putrefaction."

Blake and Mark play guitar and drums. Waldo provides the ear-bleeding screeches and satanic-sounding growls. A heavy metal prodigy, Waldo is only 15 years old. That's not all. He is also covered with feathers.

Meet Hatebeak, the world's first death metal band whose lead singer is a parrot. More...

Chuck Billy Comments On Exodus Gig

Chuck Billy posted this message on Exodus' forum:

"Just letting you know that I did do the Exodus show last night and it was great and the sold out crowd seemed to enjoy it. I did the first 6 songs the best I could with 24-hour's notice. Apparently, after the first 6 songs, Steev was feeling the crowd's energy and came out and we did the last 2 songs together. Steev, the band, and I were all on stage together and we all said how we couldn't believe that this was happening. It has been many years since I have performed on stage at the Warfield, and I want to thank the fans for all the support and amazing energy that they were giving back to the band. I want to thank the Exodus guys for giving me a call and feeling confident that I could accomplish this task with such short notice."

Shadows Fall Vocalist Soldiers On With Laryngitis

Lead singer, Brian Fair, of Shadows Fall was recently diagnosed with not only strep throat, but also laryngitis. However, he refuses to cancel any performances because of it. Fair states, "I have never cancelled a show due to poor health and don't plan on it now. The support of our fans means the world to us and I would never do anything to let them down. Besides, if Curt Shilling can lead the Red Sox to a World Series victory with a sewn up ankle then I can tough it out and bring the metal."

Shadows Fall will be featured guests on this week’s Headbangers Ball special Halloween edition, set to air on MTV2 this Saturday night Oct. 30th at 10PM EST/7PM PST. The show will be composed of interviews and segments of the band playing live taken exclusively from the Blood Rayne 2 release party filmed at the Los Angeles House of Blues last Thursday Oct. 21st. The episode will also include the world premiere of the group’s new video, “What Drives The Weak,” shot by acclaimed director Zach Merck (12 Stones, Atreyu).

Shadows Fall massive co-headlining U.S. tour alongside Damageplan and The Haunted kicked off earlier this week.
