Maynard James Keenan Blames President Bush
Maynard James Keenan of Tool and A Perfect Circle appears on two politically oriented Election Day albums tomorrow (Tuesday, November 2nd) -- APC's "eMOTIVe," and as one of the performers on the Axis Of Justice Concert Series Volume 1. Keenan told Launch that he feels the world is a more dangerous place than it was four years ago, and he blames the Bush administration:
They've had four years to reunite this country and show them that they do have good intentions. They keep trying to say the world's safer without Saddam (Hussein), but it's not. They've fostered more terrorists, and we've lost control of the north and south of Iraq now. We used to have control of it, with him in power. He was contained. Now it's a mess.
"eMOTIVe" features two APC originals along with covers of political songs by John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Nick Lowe, Depeche Mode, and others. The first single is a remake of Lennon's "Imagine."
Keenan plans to begin working on a new Tool album next month.

New Dissection Lineup Announced
Reactivated Swedish death metallers Dissection have revealed their new lineup on the eve of their headlining performance in Stockholm on Saturday (Oct. 30). Joining mainman Jon Nödtveidt (vocals and guitar) in the new formation are Set Teitan (guitar, Aborym, Bloodline), Brice Leclercq (bass guitar, Nightrage) and Thomas Asklund (drums, Infernal, Dawn, Dark Funeral). View photos of the new lineup here.
As previously reported, an audio sample of the new Dissection single, "Maha Kali," has been posted online at this location.
"Maha Kali" (view cover), described by the reactivated Swedish death metallers as "a hymn to the wrathful black hindu goddess of Mahapralaya, the great dissolution of cosmos, Jai Maha Kali," will initially only be available directly from Dissection via their official web site and on tour.
Dissection recently spent time in the studio working on their first studio recording since 1995's classic album "Storm Of The Light's Bane."
Dissection guitarist/vocalist Jon Nödtvedt was released from prison several months ago after spending seven years behind the bars for murdering an Algerian homosexual. A short-lived collaboration with former Emperor drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun ended in December over "the demands of Dissection's Satanic concept." A documentary DVD and a new studio album are expected sometime in 2005.

The new record is being partly recorded at Karo studios with the help of an engineer, and the rest of the recording process and mixing will be done at Piet Sielck's (Iron Savior) new Powerhouse Studios. The artwork for the record will once again be done by Dirk Illing of XMD.

Commented Paragon bassist Jan Bünning: "There will at last be two additional tracks (a ballad and a more melodic song) which have no titles yet and maybe a cover version which we already recorded for a tribute compilation but which was not used because the compilation was not released. There will [also] be a DVD as bonus to the first pressing which will include a liveshow of our Wacken and/or Sweden Rock performance."

Mustaine Says Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' A Ripoff
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has once again slammed Metallica over the inclusion of a scene in Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster documentary in which Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich sits down with Mustaine for a one-on-one therapy session, calling Ulrich "a treacherous little man" and accusing Metallica of having "ripped off" the ideas for their biggest hit.
Asked by Metal Maniacs magazine what it was like having that confrontation with Lars in Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster movie, Mustaine said, "The thing that bothers me is that people are booing my scene in the movie and it’s kinda like, ’Listen, dickhead, if I wasn’t here, there’d be no Metallica because James [Hetfield] sang, Lars played drums and there was Ron McGovney [bass]. Did it ever dawn on you that I was the only guitar player? That I had a more integral part than you gave me credit for’ You will never see anybody in the history of the world tell that little shit how it is. Everybody else is afraid of him. I’m not afraid of Lars. He’s a fuckin’ treacherous little man and that’s why he can’t stay married. That’s why everybody in the band can’t stand him. Their biggest song, Enter Sandman was ripped off from a band called Excel [referring to the 1989 track "Tapping Into The Emotional Void"]"
Enter Sandman currently stands as the biggest hit of Metallica’s career, having peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in August 1991. Metallica’s self-titled "black album" has sold more than 14 million copies in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
