Mourning Beloveth Release New Album In March
Irish doomsters MOURNING BELOVETH have posted the following update at their official website:
“Rehearsals are finished for the album and we have still to come up with a name for it. We have six new songs and are going to re-record Part 1 but there is only room for five as they all top the ten minute mark. The album is sounding very dark, sick and heavy so it should be an interesting three weeks in Studio E. Lukasz, the resident Prophecy artist will take care of the album artwork and at this time it is looking like a black and white theme to fit in with the general mood of the music and lyrics.
The album should be out in March next year and an extensive tour to follow.”

The Red Chord Announce New Drummer
Following a year of rotating drummers, The Red Chord have found what they hope will be a permanent addition to the band. Brad Fickeisen, formerly of Eviscerate, has now joined the group on drums. Here's a statement from the band:
"We had some pretty huge shoes to fill with previously working with drummers like Mike Justain, Jon Dow and John Longstreth. Brad can definitely hold his own. He has some great chops, hits hard and can blast with the best of them. He has an interesting style that flows with our new material. I definitely don't foresee their being any disappointment from people familiar with us once you all get to check this guy out."
In related news, the group will be in the studio in January recording their debut album for Metal Blade Records, which will hit stores in May. Some tentative song titles for the new record include Fixation on Plastics, Upper Decker, Stupefaction, Hospice Residence, Antman.

"Forever is Forgotten finally decided to call it quits. with all the difficulties we've been through in the last year, its probably for the best we hang it up now. As for what's going on with us individually, Scott is playing drums in Bosio and has an upcoming tour planned for January, Jim and I have Concentric and other individual projects, and John is arranging a final Summary Execution show in Minneapolis at the end of the month. Darkane Check In From The Studio
Darkane guitarist Christofer Malmström has checked in with this studio report on the band's official website:
Klas, Jörgen and myself have started to record the guitars and bass. So far we've put down two songs, and I guess there is not much more to tell. Working daytime and recording during evenings keeps the recording progress go forward slowly but safely.
Andreas has had the flu after the show in Denmark and will probably start to record the vocals in one or two weeks. Then we´ll continue to alternate between vocals and instrument recording to keep his voice fresh.
Not much more to tell at this moment!
Stay evil!

Voodoo Glow Skulls: So Heavy It's Ska-ry
The Valley Advocate has posted the following article on Voodoo Glow Skulls:
Call them ska-core, call them what you will. Voodoo Glow Skulls, formed in 1988 by the brothers Casillas (Frank, Eddie and Jorge), channeled their mismatched love of heavy metal and the second-wave ska of the '80s into their trademark heavy ska sound. And with their latest album, "Adicción, Tradición, Revolución," they deliver what any good VGS fan would expect: more of the bloody same.
Frontman Frank Casillas explains that the album's title track is a tribute to the band and its fans, who have weathered trends and stuck by band's aggro -- yet upbeat and danceable -- style: "Adicción is addiction, and for a lot of our hardcore fans, our music is kind of an addiction. Tradición is just our band, we have a strong sense of tradition, we've been around for years. We're like a traveling family, and everything we do, like the songs in Spanish and everything like that, it's kind of become VGS tradition. Revolución is just ... our music, we just feel like we've stayed independent and stuck to our guns. We're revolutionizing music."
VGS are most often cited as "ska-core," or "a hardcore band with horns." But it was the heavy metal of the '80s that really captivated the brothers. Frank explains, "As kids we were always music fans. We always had a knack for music. We were those kids who always went to concerts. When we were old enough to get our first teenage jobs, we'd save our money to see all the big heavy metal concerts back in the '80s. The original four members of the band, we were all pretty much products of the '80s heavy metal bands."

Ministry's "Houses Of The Mole" Inspired By Bush
Ministry frontman tells of writing material inspired by both Bush Sr and Bush Jr to Santa Cruz Sentinel:
Al Jourgensen likes to say that having a Republican in the White House is good for his band.
"There’s a Republican in the White House, and I only write good records when that’s happening," Ministry’s lead man says in the band’s latest biography. "I can’t wait for Jeb Bush to run so I can write my next platinum record!"
He’s joking about Jeb, of course, but not about Republican presidents coinciding with the band’s successes.
Ministry’s first platinum album, "Psalm 69," came out in 1992 following the senior George Bush’s term. Last year, Ministry released the record "Animositisomina" along with a DVD of the same name, in the middle of George W. Bush’s first term as president, earning good reviews.
Jourgensen has hit the jackpot again with the band’s latest record, "Houses of the Molé," which was released in June. The content is heavily inspired by the current Bush administration, and the record once again includes sound bites from the current president’s speeches.

Rival Records Changes Name
California hardcore label Rival Records are officially changing their name to Rivalry Records for legal reasons. Here's the official word from the label:
In the recent tradition of bands and labels changing their names, Rival Records has unfortunately followed the trend and become part of that list. From this day forward, we are now known as Rivalry Records. Why you ask? Well trust us, we're not doing this because we want to, or because we think it sounds cool ('cause it doesn't!). We are doing this as a result of legal issues that began in March of 2004 over the name Rival Records' and the past use of the name by certain people that have not used the name in a very long time (but whom still wish to claim ownership of the name). Could we win a dispute over this in court? Possibly. Is the name 'Rival Records' worth thousands and thousands of dollars and hundreds and hundreds of headaches? Nope. So, here we are, left to continue on as Rivalry Records.'
All remaining stock of the label's releases will still say "Rival" on them, however all future presses and represses will be under the Rivalry imprint.
