Iommi & Hughes Recording New Album
Launch Radio Networks is reporting that Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and occasional collaborator Glenn Hughes are recording a new album, which they hope to release in 2005. Iommi told Launch that the pair — who recently released some recordings they made together in 1996 — will resume working in December and finish early in the New Year. Sanctuary Records will release the album, and Iommi and Hughes hope to tour in support of it.
Kenny Aronoff — whose credits include John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Etheridge, and Michell Branch, among others — is playing drums for the project.
Hughes, a former member of Trapeze and Deep Purple, sang on the 1986 album "Seventh Star," which began as an Iommi solo album but was billed, at the record company's insistence, as "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi."
Iommi and Hughes recently issued "The 1996 DEP Sessions," featuring eight tracks recorded at DEP Studios in Birmingham, England, which is owned by the reggae band UB40.

Lemmy Kilmister: Metal Guru
The following article was posted on www.telegraph.co.uk on Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead:
From time to time comfortably clad, sensibly shod women of a certain age approach a 58-year-old man who's invariably dressed in skintight black jeans, white cowboy boots, a black shirt and an Iron Cross. His hair is dyed; so is theirs. His moustache, too, is dyed; they tend not to have one. He is Lemmy, the Jack Daniels-glugging fons et origo of Motörhead, the rock band that has deafened audiences and defined methedrine-fuelled metal music for nearly 30 years, and has, of late, become intensely fashionable again. They are among the 2,000 or so women who, Lemmy estimates, have rumpled his silken sheets
Born Ian Kilmister in Stoke-on-Trent, Lemmy was abandoned by his father, the vicar, when he was three months old: "I met him when I was 25. Nasty little weasel. He was a concert pianist as well, apparently, but he gave it up because it was too precarious an existence.' His voice drips scorn. 'I'm not like him." Lemmy's mother - "a very strong woman" - remarried, and Lemmy was raised in north Wales, in part on a farm: "I wanted to be a farmer; actually, I wanted to be a horse-breeder. And I had the stallions... but then I heard Little Richard, and that was it."
Just as significantly, he went to a concert in a north Walian boondock: "I don't really admire musicianship, per se - as is obvious from my own playing. I don't want to watch four guys playing their instruments and looking at their shoes. But I do admire a good act. I want to see people from another planet. Know what I mean? I want to see people come down and speak to me for an hour and a half and go away again - in the magic spacecraft. And I went to see Gene Vincent, and he was definitely from another planet. And that's as it should be."
Since then the band has made 26 or so albums, of which "Bastards" is a favourite. At one point recognised as the loudest band in the world, they have given the world such songs as "Killed by Death," 'Die, You Bastard," "I Am the Sword," and - their biggest hit - "Ace of Spades." The name Motörhead is a reference to Lemmy's tendresse for speed: "If you're going to do drugs, you might as well do something that's utilitarian... I mean, we once did 53 gigs in 56 days; you've got to have something to go on."

Mayhem: Vocalist Maniac Out, Attila Back In
Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM have parted ways with singer Maniac (real name Sven Erik Kristiansen) and replaced him with Attila Csihar (TORMENTOR, ABORYM). Csihar had previously worked with the group on their 1993 release, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".
"Although many rumors flourished over the past months, nothing was decided until now," reads a statement from the group's record label, Season of Mist. "The reason for this change in line-up lies in more private matters, but has also to do with Maniac's inability to tour."
The band commented in a statement: "Maniac was, and will always be a part of our legacy, and it has been an honour to work with him for the last 10 years. Respect!"

TNT Vocalist Issues Update
TNT vocalist Tony Harnell has posted this message on his official website:
Hello friends,
I realized I needed to stop by and say hi more often even if I have nothing to say! Of course I always do:)
Anyway, the election is over so I guess we can all move on now. If you know me, you know how I feel about the result.
I'm flying to California on Friday to do some business, hang out with some friends and see my family. It'll be nice to feel that good old California air again. It's been way too long!
I will be making an announcement soon on a new project, I think you¹re all going to love it! Stay tuned.
Also, I am going to Finland in December to record three songs for the new Brazen Abbott CD with my buddy Joe Lynn Turner. Really looking forward to that. Nikolo Kotsev is a cool guy and this should be a lot of fun to do.
In TNT news, we are planning to start up again as I said before so after Finland I will be stopping off in Norway for a week long writing session with Mr. Le Tekro. We're looking to get a bit heavier on this next album which is exciting.
That¹s about it. I will check in again when I get back to New York!
Peace and love,
Tony

There Are No Rules At A Powderburn Show
Austin's online entertainment guide www.austin360.com has posted the following article on Powderburn:
Powderburn is a name that fans in the underground metal scene have come to recognize. This hardcore metal act spawned in October of 1998 from guitarist Josh Klayman, in a small apartment in Austin, Texas. With the combined efforts of drummer Joel Reyes from Austin, guitarist Ken Lockman from New Jersey and bassist Greg Enkler from New York, Powderburn has quickly made an impact on the local music scene, as well as spread their name nationally and internationally via the internet and relentless touring.
When it comes to playing live shows, Powderburn is no stranger to the stage. They live for playing live and nothing else. After just a couple of years, the band has produced over 200 shows to crowds ranging from 3 to 3,000. When they aren't opening for metal acts such as Anthrax, The Misfits, Drowning Pool, Six Feet Under, Skinlab and The Union Underground, among others, Powderburn is headlining its own shows all over the southern states. While the music can certainly speak for itself, the band also incorporates an elaborate stage show that adds to the intensity of their live performance - further setting them apart from their peers. Powderburn knows they are doing something right because fans at each show automatically assume we already have the backing of a major label. This is only a matter of time. Powderburn's trademark is to excite its fans to a new level of insanity with heated riffs and thunderous low ends, that the crowd dives into a world of primal energy following the band's #1 rule, "There are no rules at a Powderburn show."
