Murder Weapon To Break Up
Murder Weapon have officially decided to disband. Since forming in 2002, the hardcore group has released material with Martyr Records. The band will play one final show at Alley Katz in Richmond, VA on December 26th. Here's a statement from the group:
"It's true. Murder Weapon has decided to call it quits. We’ve had a great time doing the band, but like they say, all good things must come to an end. There's no 'bad blood' (pardon the pun) between any of the band members. We all are still friends. All of us have a lot of responsibilities (work, school, etc.) outside of Murder Weapon which essentially led to the break up. We regret not touring as much and not getting a chance to record our new material, but that's how it goes."

Slash Says He Was Suicidal When He Left GNR
The Irish Examiner is reporting that legendary guitarist Slash considered suicide after watching Axl Rose record his vocals at the final Guns N' Roses recording session. The band recorded a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" in 1994 and by that point Rose wouldn't even look at Slash. The next day, Slash decided to leave the band.
Slash, who now plays with Velvet Revolver, recalls he went home to sleep, waking up two hours later. He says: "I was suicidal. If I'd had a gun with me at that time, I probably would have done myself in. "If I'd had a half-ounce of f**king heroin with me, I probably just would've gone. It was heavy. It was a headspace I'd never been in before.
"Somehow I managed to go back to sleep. Then, when I woke up later that morning, I made a decision. I felt the whole weight of the world drop."
AC/DC Singer Banned From Hotel Bar Over Cap
AC/DC singer Brian Johnson was refused a drink in a swish hotel because he would not remove his trademark flat cap, according to The Sun Online. Johnson has worn the distinctive headgear at concerts across the world. But it cut no ice with a young barman in his home city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Johnson, 57, popped into the bar of the Malmaison hotel for a pint as he waited to meet Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd.
The lad, who had no idea who Brian was, refused to serve him in his cap and Johnson walked out. An onlooker said: "Fortunately he bumped into a concierge who recognized him and smoothed things over."
Yngwie Malmsteen Completes New Album
YngwieMalmsteen.net has posted this message regarding the guitar virtuoso's upcoming studio album:
Yngwie has now finished recording the new studio album. Vocals once again come courtesy of Doogie White, no other line up details are available at present though its likely that Patrik Johansson played drums and keyboards come from Joakim Svalberg. Its most likely that Yngwie plays bass too.
It looks like the album will be 19 tracks in total!! Some of the track titles available are:
Drinking With The Devil: YJM: A very intense, personal song.
Cherokee Warrior - Yngwie on vocals.
Boogie Man - YJM: has a riff that just won’t quit.
Guardian Angel
Wings Of War
There are at least three instrumentals on the album too. However, fans of the fantasy, dungeons & dragons lyrics are in for a shock because there are none! Its most likely that the album will be released in early 2005. The album will on the Universal label in Japan, but no deals have yet been confirmed for Europe or the USA.

Helloween Pre-production Underway
Helloween guitarist Michael Weikath recently spoke to the band's webmaster, Tony Webster, about several topics, including the current progress of the writing phase of their new album. Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Tony Webster: "So what is the band up to?"
Michael Weikath: "We are at rehearsals and collecting material and such. Citing some of the stuff we have and we are listening to the demos everybody has. We are in the middle of arranging stuff. This is kind of the pre-production that we're actually doing this time around and on the November 20th Charlie will come around and do an actual pre-production of the album with what we have so far. I don't know how many tracks we have total. So far we have around 9 songs done and we will continue two and a half weeks more. We will have around 13 tracks for the album and this time everybody is convinced that these songs are great, unlike when I gave the interview for the Dark Ride because we now have good stuff everybody in the band likes. Sascha had some great stuff, in fact everybody came up with great stuff for this album and everybody likes everybody's compositions for the album. I also like the stuff I came up with. We're just working on these songs. Charlie will come in soon and tear everything apart and do a pre-production before the actual production. We also have a new keyboard player here to come up with good ideas and some atmosphereic ideas and he is trying to find an approach of how we work and what we do. He has been playing in bands in Germany for 30 years, he never got famous or anything but he is a top notch keyboard player. He's just like very very clever with what he knows about music and knows a lot about music and he also has produced other bands and projects and he is a friend of Sascha and he said we should ask him to help us. He was also in a German band in 1981 which went to Japan and had great things going for them, they won some contests etc. They were in the English metal charts for 2 months and then they became unlucky because the producer was interested in other things. So this band which began with some much hope and had been so strong did not come along because of stupid misunderstandings and timing or whatever. Its odd but they could have made it from what I know, and its odd that band never emerged and now we have the keyboarder of that band. His name is Friedl."
