God Forbid Tour Update
Dallas Coyle (guitars) of GOD FORBID checks in with the following report from Europe:
"We're back again to let you know how the Weapons of Mass Destruction Tour with Caliban and Machine Head is going. Today we're in Lille, France ready to play in front of another sold out crowd. This tour has been absolutely crazy and we've been meeting more and more people each day who are feeling the metal GF is supplying. Two days ago in Tilburg we had a crazy party night. Everyone from Caliban and Machine Head was at the club partying hard, dancing, drinking and just acting plain stupid. Dave was buying everyone drinks and Robb was going around biting peoples heads! Yeah, it was that type of night and guess what? We still have four more weeks left. On Sunday we hit the UK and bring the madness to the Brits! I know they are ready for it; we are. So, to all you crazy M-F'ers out there, keep it real and dodge the draft!"

Heavy Metal In Iraq
In The War Against Terrorism (or TWAT for short) the ultimate weapon is apparently rock music. Troops working in Fallujah, Iraq have a new weapon of choice - heavy metal!
The armies are reported to have tried using loud blasts of AC/DC, Metallica and other bands to discomfort their enemy.
James Hetfiled had the following to say about the use of his music as an offensive tool, "For me, the lyrics are a form of expression, a freedom to express my insanity," Hetfield told a US radio station. "If the Iraqis aren't used to freedom, then I'm glad to be part of their exposure. We've been punishing our parents, our wives, our loved ones with this music forever. Why should the Iraqis be any different?"
He says that he understands why heavy metal can be used as such a destructive tool for interrogation, "It's the relentlessness of the music. It's completely relentless. ... If I listened to a death metal band for 12 hours in a row, I'd go insane, too. I'd tell you anything you wanted to know."
Mustaine: Ulrich Thinks He Created Heavy Metal
Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has told The Edmonton Sun that his Christian faith kicked up a notch while recovering from a nerve injury in his fretting hand. He couldn't play at all for more than a year. Megadeth was shelved — for good, he thought — but the "fire" kept burning.
"I had a pretty profound spiritual experience during the process, too," he says. "I believed in God my whole life, but I was never really ready to serve Him until I said these six simple words: 'What have I got to lose?'
"People say, oh, Dave became a Christian. They think I'm a pussy. I'm not. I'm still the same guy. If you make me angry, you still make me angry. It's just the way I'm going to respond to it.
"One of the things I decided early on is that I'm not going to go around telling people they're doing something wrong. That would've been the same as when everybody was doing this sobriety police stuff in the music industry, which I thought was absolutely pathetic. I was on tour with Aerosmith and they had their sobriety police out and I said, 'How gay is that?' "
He goes on and on in much the same vein, spontaneously weighing in on a variety of musical and political issues and taking a nice shot at Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich - "The guy thinks he created heavy metal. Metal created you, buddy."

Snapcase Planning Final Show
Snapcase guitarist Frank Vicario recently posted a few messages on the group's website suggesting that the band will soon be calling it quits and are in the process of scheduling their final show, which will apparently take place in mid-January in Buffalo, NY. More specifically, here are some postings by Vicario:
"Snapcase isn't broken up... yet. We're in the process of organizing last show(s) for early next year. So for all intents and purposes we're pretty much done... [later] Unfortunately it's looking more and more like it will be one last show in our hometown and that's it. Look for an announcement soon and for those who are still interested in seeing Snapcase play one last time, keep your schedules open in mid-January. It's no mystery that the popularity of the band has been waning over the past few years and it's tough to keep flogging a dead horse when hearts are in other places, whether that be with family, jobs and/or other bands. We reached an impasse where our core fan-base had been dwindling due to disenfranchisement with our newer material and since we were a band who had been around for a while, many people had already pigeonholed what they perceived our sound to be and were reluctant to give us a chance. You know how it is? We sure do."
Meanwhile, it appears that Vicario will be playing full-time with his new band, Ourselves, which also features Snapcase members Ben Lythberg and Dustin Perry. Check out their Purevolume page here.
Twiggy Ramirez To Join Nine Inch Nails?
Former MARILYN MANSON/current A PERFECT CIRCLE bassist Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez) is strongly rumored to have joined NINE INCH NAILS' touring lineup. Two recent photos of White in the recording studio with NINE INCH NAILS during the making of their new album have popped up on NIN's official web site (Photo#1, Photo#2), with one of them appearing to depict Jeordie laying down bass tracks for the CD, which is believed have a working title of "With Teeth". Adding fuel to the speculation, MARILYN MANSON stated in an interview with the New York radio station K-Rock 92.3 FM on Thursday (Nov. 18) that Jeordie was "in NINE INCH NAILS now" (Audio). There has been no official statement or confirmation on the matter from any of the parties involved.
