Megadeth Guitarist 'Putting Ideas On Tape'

MEGADETH guitarist Glen Drover (also in EIDOLON) has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's web site:

"I just wanted to say hi to all and hope you are doing well. I am enjoying this break at home, but I am staying pretty busy. Shawn [Drover, MEGADETH/EIDOLON drummer] will be here tomorrow, so we will be putting his ideas to tape here in my studio. I will probably put a few of my ideas down as well. We'll most likely be sending it off to Dave [Mustaine] sometime next week or so. The two of us have not been in the studio for well over one year, so this will be fun.

"We will also be appearing at the Toronto Music Expo this coming Saturday, from 12-1PM at the Long and Mcquade booth. I went to this show last year, so I know firsthand that this will be a cool thing to be a part of. I always enjoy looking at what new equipment is coming out."

Ozzy Slams Sharon's TV Show, "X Factor"

Ozzy Slams Sharon's TV Show

Sky.com is reporting that Ozzy Osbourne has taken a sideswipe at his wife Sharon's U.K. TV talent show "X Factor" saying it's "killing music" and it traumatizes its contestants.

The shaggy-haired former hellraiser was making an appearance on radio station Planet Rock when he decided to speak his mind.

"They never go anywhere," Ozzy said of the show's winners. "Look at that Steve from last year. I think he's back doing the pub circuit."

But after that put-down for 2004 champ Steve Brookstein, Ozzy was back with more ranting.

"'X Factor' is one big theatre, it's turning music into WWF," he went on.

"It's about killing music to make light entertainment. It should be about music and talent but it's not."

However, he does have some sympathy for the wannabes.

"It's all fine and dandy, I'm all for it if they enjoy it. But it's got to have some effect on them if they end up not pursuing a musical career and going back to the same milkman job or window cleaning job."

Opeth Frontman Comments On Arrested Bus Driver

OPETH mainman Mikael Åkerfeldt has commented on the recent arrest of their bus driver Leon R. Whitman who was charged on Tuesday (November 15th) with one felony count of using a child for a sexual performance, three counts of computer pornography and one count each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and interfering with custody.

"Our busdriver on the last North American tour was arrested in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL for "unlawful activity with a minor". Basically we're appalled by the fact that we'd employed this bastard and even more disgusted by his deeds and obviously we will be much more detailed in our background check for future employments. The driver introduced himself only as "Rod" and seemed like a nice guy, even though for us he was just another driver, and a bad one as well! He said he owned a trailer company and that he was a drummer, playing with TED NUGENT and several other bands in the '70's. We got suspicious that he couldn't get into Canada (we had another driver there) due to some previous drug "misdemeanors". Myself and Peter (Lindgren - guitars) met him and the girl in the elevator of the hotel where he introduced her as his niece. She seemed distant, asking us if we smoked pot. "Rod" told us he was driving her to Los Angeles. After the gig, he never returned to the bus and then we got the news that he'd been arrested. Luckily for us one of Nevermore's crew was able to drive us back to the hotel. The next day the FBI stopped our tour manager outside the bus with a warrant to search the bus for "Rod's" laptop and camera. We feel genuinely happy that he is caught and behind bars where we hope he will stay for a long time."

"So, last night, we're at the Norva, in Norfolk, Va. It's one of the nicer clubs in North America, with real friendly people, a HUGE greenroom with loads of cool amenities, and a JACUZZI in the headliners' dressing room. Wow! Now that jacuzzi, while cool in theory, is something you'd never see ol' Gene jumpin' into. Bathing in countless other bands' 'egg-drop soup'. Wicked. Sign me up. Interview

Interview with Mati of Orphaned Land

During my stay in Atlanta, GA for ProgPower, September 16-17, I was fortunate enough to interview Orphaned Land. I interviewed Orphaned Land guitarist, Mati Svatizki. Mati was very kind, intelligent, and seemed eager to hear my questions and respond. Also, Mati and I were able to have a very interesting discussion after the interview about religion, Israel, the middle east, and the current situation in Israel.

Orphaned Land's live show was MIND BLOWING! Not much is known about Orphaned Land and I was absolutely impressed when I heard them for my first time at ProgPower. Their energy was relentless and the musicianship uncomprable. After their set, I immediately went to buy their latest release, "Mabool", which is even more unique! Orphaned Land have taken, flamenco, classical, death/doom metal music and combined them into one euphoric cd and entitled it, "Mabool".

I urge anyone and everyone to definately check out Orphaned Land if they are playing near you and to go out and get "Mabool". To see and hear Orphaned Land is an experience in itself, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Not only are the great musicians, but they are also VERY nice people and I believe the following interview portrays that. More...

Amon Amarth Check In From Quebec

Amon Amarth has posted this update on the band's official website:

"Just got off stage from the Quebec show, it was the first time for us in this city and you made us feel really welcome, thank you!! It was the perfect start for this tour, despite the problems that we had. Like the backdrop, power supply for our European equipment, and some lost items in Iceland. Fredrik also had an incident there which forced him to seek out a hospital to get his hand sewn up; nothing major, just a couple of stitches. But nothing will stop us or interfer with our North American raid!

"Speaking of which, the two sold out shows on Iceland was absolutely amazing! A big thanks to all you crazy Icelandic metal heads for coming to the shows!

"We look forward to continue this great tour with so many shows sold out already. See you there and remember, don't be late!"

Clan Of Xymox To Release New EP

CLAN OF XYMOXs new E.P. "Weak In My Knees" will be finally released on Jan 13th 2006. After two years (leaving "The Best Of" out) Clan Of Xymox are coming up with new songs. Planned as a single the new song "Weak In My Knees" became an E.P. ! Remixes of the title track by Grendel and The Azoic, plus another rerecorded song from their "old days" (Michelle to be detailed - plus a remix version) and another brand new song "Calling You Out" made us decide that almost 40 minutes of music can hardly be called a "single". On top of all will be the video for "Weak In My Knees". A perfect view to the new - yet untitled - studio album in Feb or March 2006.
