Circle II Cirle's Zachary Stevens in Live Fan Chat

Abrasive Rock.com will be hosting a live fan chat with Circle II Circle mainman Zachary Stevens Monday, November 14th, at 4:00 PM Pacific (7:00 Eastern). Fans will be able to talk to Zak directly about the critically acclaimed second album, The Middle Of Nowhere, as well as anything else they want to know.

Stevens sang for SAVATAGE from 1992 to 2000, replacing Jon Oliva. Their debut solo album, "Watching In Silence", set the scene in 2003. Now, with compositional/instrumental help from Oliva, Stevens has upped the ante on his promising solo career with "In The Middle of Nowhere", delivering 10 studio tracks in 54:26, a distinct synthesis of Progressive Rock and Power Metal. Considering his longtime musical pedigree, and the musicians he’s surrounded himself with, this South Carolinian is primed and poised to take the prog-power sub-genre to new heights with CIRCLE II CIRCLE.

On November 14th Abrasive Rock will also launch a new contest for fans to enter for a chance to win signed copies of the album as well as cool new merchendise. Go to AbrasiveRock.com/chat for more info.

Diecast Drop Off Tour After Drummer Sneaks Off

Boston-based metallers DIECAST have been forced to drop off the U.S. tour with AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE, INDEX CASE and BLEED THE SKY following the apparent departure of drummer Jason Costa. The band have issued the following statement on the matter:

"To our fans and friends: We apologize for dropping off the AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE tour. AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE, INDEX CASE and BLEED THE SKY were the best tourmates that we could have asked for. The tour was going amazingly and our fans came out in force to support us. We even made the best of the only dud of a show in Cleveland by closing the bar. Together with the rest of our tourmates a few old friends and Matt and Kevin from CHIMAIRA, we nearly drank the place dry. The problem came the next day on a day off we had in Nashville. We (Kirk, Jeremy, Paul and Jon) aren't really sure what happened. It all started with an argument about Brendan Fraser's acting skills, (mature, huh?) and ended with a valued member of the DIECAST family (Jason) sneaking off onto a bus in the middle of the night without explanation or warning. Needless to say we are all devastated, saddened and disappointed. We always considered Jason to be one of the nicest guys in the band and obviously an amazing musician, phenomenal drummer and most importantly a friend. We aren't sure why he left, but when we know more we will make everyone privy to the information. The rest of us would like to apologize to our label, our manager, our agents, the rest of the bands on the tour and most importantly our fans."

DIECAST's latest album, "Tearing Down Your Blue Skies", continues to garner critical acclaim led by the strength of the hit singles "Medieval" and "Rise and Oppose", which remains in heavy rotation on both "Metal Asylum" and "Headbanger's Ball". The disc will officially be reissued early next year with a new track, a cover version of SLAYER's "Raining Blood", new artwork and video clips.

Trouble Finish Recording 'Simple Mind Condition'

Legendary Chicago doomsters TROUBLE have posted the following message on their official web site:

"The music is finished for the new CD, 'Simple Mind Condition'. It's awesome. Eric [Wagner, vocals] will be finished by the end of November 2005 and the release date has been set for March 2006. Samples and promos will be shipped earlier.

"TROUBLE is under contract with two labels, one for USA, and one for Europe. This is the date the labels finally can agree on. On the other hand, they seem to agree to put out the 'Trouble live in Stockholm' DVD in late January 2006. Tours and festivals are already in the works for the spring and summer of 2006. Also, dates are being discussed for the re-release of the first two CDs ('Psalm', 'Skull') for sometime in 2006.

"To sum it up, there will be plenty of TROUBLE in the New Year. More than ever."

TROUBLE's new CD is being produced by Vinny Wojno (KREATOR, MACHINE HEAD) and is expected to be issued Escapi Music in Europe and Century Media in the U.S. The group's current lineup includes guitarists Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin, drummer Jeff Olson and bassist Chuck Robinson (formerly of THIS TORTURED SOUL). 15 songs are currently being recorded for the follow-up to 1995's "Plastic Green Head", including "Mindbender", "Seven", "Beginning of Sorrows", and "After the Rain". The group's previously announced "unplugged" EP is currently "on hold" and will be completed later this year.

Tool Ready DVD For December Release

According to a posting on Toolband.com, TOOL are planning to release a DVD featuring the videos for "Schism" and "Parabol/Parabola" with added extras (more details later) sometime in December (possibly December 20). The posting adds: "Please note that this is NOT the (much-anticipated) TOOL live DVD, which will be released at some point, although exactly when is still a great unknown."

It's been four years since TOOL released their last album, 2001's "Lateralus", and drummer Danny Carey told Launch that the band prefer to take their time recording the follow-up. "We're not pressured, I think, and we don't have a record company hanging over us, saying, 'You have to do an album every year,' or something," he said. "It's a lot more important to take our time and have something to say, and if you're putting out a record every year, how much can you really learn in one year? You know, you've got to develop as a person and develop as a player."

Voivod To Make An Album 'PIGGY Would Be Proud Of'

VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin has issued the following update to fans regarding their upcoming album and other projects for 2006:

"Dear Voivodians, we will do our best to make a great record that Piggy would be proud of as we worked very hard for the past two years on the new songs. Jasonic has already put down his bass tracks and Glen Robinson [producer; ANNIHILATOR, NASHVILLE PUSSY] and I will edit Piggy's guitar tracks in December. We will track my drum parts and Snake's vocals in Montreal in January. Then we'll mix it, get it mastered and released as soon as possible via The End Records in USA, Nuclear Blast in Europe and Hypnotic-Linus/Universal in Canada.

"In other news, I am still working on my long overdue art book, coming out on Troubleman Unlimited in 2006. Also coming out next year, 'DVOD-2', our second DVD which will be covering the '90s line-up with Eric Forrest. Thanks for your patience!

"P.S. If you get a chance to see the movie 'Metal: A Headbanger's History', it is great and has a short interview with Piggy in it. We saw the Montreal premiere a few weeks ago at the invitation of Sam and Scott, the filmmakers, and they introduced the movie by dedicating it to Piggy, which was very cool of them."

D'Amour died Aug. 26 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer. The surviving VOIVOD members are expected to release four new albums that feature Piggy. D'Amour recorded all of his parts for the upcoming record on his laptop with ProTools. While working with that material, drummer Langevin discovered another three albums' worth of finished songs that the surviving bandmembers will work with over the coming years.
