Megadeth Drummer Undergoes Surgery
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message at the band's official forum:
"I returned home from Toronto a few days ago, in which Glen (Drover - guitar) and myself attended the Toronto Music Expo - It was nice to see the droogs who did attend this event, as well as seeing my Canadian Pearl Drums rep, Redge, who was at the show helping Flo Mournier (Cryptopsy drummer) who had a drum seminar at the show. For those who are not aware of Flo's drumming, this dude is 1 of the sickest, fastest Death metal drummers on planet earth (in my humble opinion). Anyways, it was cool talking to him for a bit as well.

Firewind Announce New Singer
Firewind guitarist Gus G. talks about the new line-up:
“Hell-o!!!
"Sorry to keep you waiting, but finally we’re in position to announce our new singer. And it’s none other than Apollo Papathanasio (x-Majestic, Time Requiem)!! He is a worldclass act and I’m very happy that the timing’s right now and we’re joining forces under the Firewind flag!”
The new vocalist Apollo comments:
“Hallo everybody this is Apollo. Since I met Gus in Gothenburg 4 years ago we became good friends and back then we always talked about working together in the future. Now here we are together, taking the Firewind music to a new level. I love Gus’ guitar style and it’s a pleasure to listen to their music. The guys in Firewind are real magicians and I’m happy that you’re letting me be a part of this machinery. STAY METAL!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS!!!!”
Gus continues:
“Also, for purely logistical reasons we’ve decided to get a drummer that lives in Greece. We’d like to thank Stian Kristoffersen for his amazing drumming and the great times we had together the past 3 years.
"So, out goes Stian and in comes the monster drummer Mark Cross (x-Helloween, x-Metalium)!! Although Mark is 50% German and 50% British, he’s been living in Greece for many years. This obviously makes rehearsals and preparations happen much easier.”
The new drummer Mark comments:
“Hello boyz and girlz!
"Life’s a spinning wheel and here I am aside to one of the few remaining great young guitareros…. The Gus G. Firewindo metal fuckin’ machine!
"Looking forward to their next album, a tour and Firewind heading your way!
"Cheers and greets,”
Gus' final comment on the new line-up:
“Welcome on board guys! A new, creative and very exciting time for Firewind has begun!”
The band is currently in pre-production mode with 8 new songs completed. The new album is expected to be recorded in early 2006 and Firewind plan to make their live debut with the new line-up at Prog Power UK festival on March 25th 2006.

Dark Fortress Sign With Century Media Records
Century Media Records is proud to present you its newest signing with German black metal hopefuls Dark Fortress, who will debut with their fourth full-length release “Séance” on January 30th, 2006 in Europe.
Formed in 1994, Dark Fortresshave established themselves in the top ranks of the genre with captivating, intense live shows and fascinating pitch black full-length masterpieces that meet the standard created mostly in northern Europe’s prolific scenes with ease.
Having released a self-financed demo tape, a nowadays highly sought-after MCD on the small black metal label Fog Of The Apocalypse and two fantastic albums on the US based underground label Red Stream Records, the band’s 2004 output “Stab Wounds” manifested the reputation within the underground scene as well as it established the name Dark Fortressin the main metal media. As a prime example, German Rock Hard magazine stated Dark Fortress being “too good, too original and heavy to be ignored. Simply the best German black metal has to offer!”
Now “Séance” is the next step to establish Dark Fortressnot only as one of Germany’s most hopeful black metal acts, but as one that does not have to fear the international competition. Once more ennobled by a marvellous artwork of Travis Smith (Nevermore, Katatonia, Opeth etc.) the album evolves around the conceptual idea of the direct contrast between the here and now and the hereafter, the fragility of human existence with its most striking weaknesses - ignorance, arrogance and false illusions – and the crass finality of death. The central motif lyrically of “Séance” dares to leave the stereotypical, cliché-ridden black metal paths and instead deals with the idea of paranormal beings, their individual experiences which are focused on during the course of the album.
The musical side supports this conceptual idea with majestic, gloomy guitar melodies, twisted and morbid passages, ultimately grim vocals and an amount of inventiveness hard to find in the genre nowadays. “Séance” is a diversified, frighteningly extreme and highly creative effort, that should not be ignored. Here the tracklist:
Tracklist:
Ghastly Indoctrination (7:39)
CataWomb (6:41)
Requiem Grotesque (6:50)
While They Sleep (7:11)
To Harvest The Artefacts Of Mockery (4:11)
Poltergeist (5:56)
REvolution:Vanity (5:14)
Incide (5:20)
Shardfigures (6:22)
Insomnia (6:34)
Total playing time: 62:05min
