Better riffs than Mez thats for sure, but Malakians vocals....which are fantastic for harmonies, sound terrible more often than not when he sings solo (without Tankian)....
And his lyrics are kind of ...punk-simplistic, theres nothing abstract about them....whats worse is he likes catchphrases, proverbs, figures of speech and stealing bad lines from bad songs a bit too well.
I can't take him seriously at all as a singer.....fantastic guitarist though....
The second he starts a vocal part without Serj I flinch as it will either be OK or f***ing terrible.
Someone make him stop.
Or least make him go back the squeaks, screams, harmonies and roars from self title, toxicity and Steal!.....
Someone might call this growth, evolution or development....I call this an ego spawnned power trip of epic scale.

"Fantastic" is a strong word, but I can't play most of his riffs right off the bat, nor would I dream them up for that matter. Better than average is more to the point.
With System I can be certain there will never be a "return to form" with their sound as each album is so differnt than the last....I'm just hoping that constant transformation may put a more backround role to Malakians vox, as heard in the first three albums....
I'd like to think he got all the fire out his belly given the nature of the socio/political and family war issues that impact relatives of his in the middle east....His lyrics are likely straight from the heart but christ their terrible. And his voice is just waaaay too high.

When I first dl the album i just hated it, but after a few days of listening to it, it has grown on me. Its
obvious Daron is'nt cut out to share the spot light. When i first heard SOAD around 1999 or something i
loved them and i could never see the day were i would see a SOAD video come on right after a f***ing
MCR vid or a Fallout Boy vid.
Im not saying they sold out to MTV like Thrice or green Day but if i were Serj i would get p***ed if i saw
my vid follow a piece of CrAp like MCR.
