Rammstein's Video For Amerika To Air On HBB

German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN will release their fourth studio album, "Reise Reise", in the U.S. on November 16. The album's first domestic single, the bilingual "Amerika", will go into rotation on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" Oct. 2, while import single "Mein Teil" has already shown up on the "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" soundtrack as well as on Fuse's "Uranium".

Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is an album of firsts for RAMMSTEIN: the first time the group have worked on songs to which they weren't completely committed prior to entering the studio; the first time they've recorded a track with a stand-out English chorus (single/video "Amerika") or as stripped-to-the-groove acoustic as "Los" ("Let's Go"), but most of all: the first time in a long time the recording vibe could genuinely be called relaxed. "Fun" even.

Which is not to say that fans of the signature RAMMSTEIN sound defined on the previous "Herzeleid" (1995), "Sehnsucht" (1998) and "Mutter" (2001) won't find plenty of familiar touchstones. Produced by Jacob Hellner, who has been integral to the band's studio work since day one), the admittedly experimental "Reise, Reise" also features abundant raw power in the form of "Stein Um Stein", "Moskau" and first overseas single "Mein Teil", a No. 2 hit this summer from Germany to Spain — and the true tale of Armin Meiwes, a 42-year-old computer expert from Rotenburg, Central Germany who advertised on the internet for someone to eat and eventually found a willing "dinner companion" in 43-year-old Berliner, Bernd Juergen Brandes. An appropriately disturbing clip has already seen rotation here in the U.S. on the Fuse network.

By way of contrast, "Reise, Reise"'s first U.S. single "Amerika" showcases a much lighter side of the RAMMSTEIN psyche, while addressing much more universal subject matter. Directed by Jorn Heitmann (who helmed 2001's "Ich Will" and "Sonne" clips), "Amerika" is a tongue-in-cheek affair, in which U.S. globalization and imperialism is portrayed by RAMMSTEIN members on a moon landing that turns out to be a staged video production, juxtaposed with footage of indigenous third world cultures chanting along with the "We're all living in Amerika" chorus — the ideal tone for a song that successfully rhymes wunderbar with wonderbra. Alternately provocative and humorous, "Amerika" offers a fascinating outside perspective on U.S. commercial and governmental policy.

RAMMSTEIN's upcoming tour begins November 1 in Mannheim, Germany and includes three nights at Berlin's Velodrom, as well as arena dates in Moscow, Prague, Barcelona and Helsinki. U.S. dates should follow in 2005.

Anthrax: 'The Greater Of Two Evils' Cover Art Post

The cover art for Anthrax's upcoming collection of Joey Belladonna/Neil Turbin-era songs performed by the band's current lineup, entitled "The Greater of Two Evils", has been posted online at this location.

All the artwork for "The Greater Of Two Evils" was done by Shepard Fairey, the subterranean legend best known for his Andre The Giant-inspired OBEY graphics. "We wanted something different this time out," says Benante who serves not only as drummer and songwriter but as the resident art director as well. "Our last two releases we used famed painter Alex Ross who did two unbelievable covers for us (2003's critically acclaimed 'We've Come For You All' and their live DVD/CD 'Music Of Mass Destruction' which was released earlier this year.), and we wanted to go in a slightly different direction. The cover is very 'flat,' in a good way, and the colors are striking. It will work great as the cover, in posters, t-shirts, whatever, it's just a cool image."

Recorded "live" in the studio over the course of two days, "The Greater Of Two Evils" is made up of 14 classic Anthrax songs the fans demanded by way of the thousands of votes from all over the world received on the band's official web site, Anthrax.com. Based on those votes, the band entered Avatar studios in New York City one cold and snowy weekend last winter and took a trip back in time to revisit songs from their formative releases "Fistful Of Metal" (1984), "Spreading The Disease" (1985), "Among The Living" (1987), "State Of Euphoria" (1988), and "Persistence Of Time" (1990).

"The Greater of Two Evils" is scheduled for release in the U.S. on November 23 via Sanctuary. The complete track listing for the effort is as follows:

01. Deathrider
02. Metal Thrashing Mad
03. Caught In A Mosh
04. A.I.R.
05. Among The Living
06. Keep It In The Family
07. Indians
08. Madhouse
09. Panic
10. I Am The Law
11. Belly Of The Beast
12. N.F.L.
13. Be All End All
14. Gung-Ho

SOIL Acoustic Version Of 'Redefine' Posted Online

A SOIL e-card, featuring an acoustic version of the title track of the band's last studio album, "Redefine", can be accessed online at this location.

The acoustic version of "Redefine" was recorded in June 2004 at Chasin Jason studio (owned by Dimebag Darrell of Damageplan) in Dallas, Texas with producer Vinnie Paul (Damageplan, ex-Pantera). Sterling Winfield (Pantera, Mercyful Fate, Damageplan) engineered the session.

SOIL recently parted ways with singer Ryan McCombs and are currently seeking a replacement. The band, who recently split with J Records, have started writing material for the follow-up to this year's "Redefine", tentatively due sometime next year.

SOIL's J Records debut, "Scars" (2001), has sold nearly 230,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Its follow-up, "Redefine", has shifted less than 75,000 units to date.

We are still looking for a second guitarist but for now Nesmoht is handling the lead guitar. We are working our asses off rehearsing for the festival and the spirits are high. After a long period of trouble, it finally feels great again and the band haven't had so much fun rehearsing in a long time. We are back to kick some ass!"

Racist Sampler CDs Headed For The "Schoolyard"

St. Paul, Minn. — Panzerfaust Records is printing 100,000 copies of a new CD, simply called "Sampler Volume 1." The cover features a cartoon of a muscled skinhead and a flaming Nazi iron cross. The CD has 20 tracks from top white power bands like Brutal Attack, Rebel Hell, Final War, Skrewdriver, and Max Resist.

Panzerfaust makes no secret of the fact it's targeting kids 13 to 19 years old, and the CDs will be given for free to students all over the country. Panzerfaust says it has never done anything on this scale. Civil rights groups say the effort is unusually large and well-organized.

"Schools need to realize what is behind this CD," says Elana Stern, the Chicago-based associate director of the Anti-Defamation League. "It's not just another record. This is a thinly-veiled attempt to attract today's teenagers to hateful and racist music." More...
