Sebastian Bach Downplays His Ego
Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach insisted in an interview with ChartAttack.com that his strong character is often perceived the wrong way. "Everyone thinks I have this insanely wild image," he said. "It's funny to me though. It's from stuff like the incident with George at MuchMusic [in which Bach walked out of the interview after Stroumboulopoulos lumped Skid Row into the same category as Poison], but to me I'm just a rock 'n' roller. I'm a lifer, but I'm not wild or hard to work with. 'He's got a big ego?' No way. I'm just trying to make shit I'm proud of."

We have been getting the best reactions not only when we play 'Dreaming in Dog Years', but also when we play our new songs. So far Anaheim and San Diego were the best shows on the tour. And, we are really excited because the air conditioner in our van is finally working!"

Cradle Of Filth: Japanese Version Of Nymphetamine
Cradle Of Filth bassist Dave Pybus has posted the following studio update on the band's official web site:
"The new album is finished and the promo tour has started which saw me and [vocalist] Dani [Filth] travel through Cologne - Germany, Stockholm - Sweden, Amsterdam - Holland, Milan - Italy and New York - USA. There is a 6-track CD featuring unmixed and unmastered songs gone out to the press which rumour has it can be downloaded on the net. I wanna personally thank whoever did this for us as it's helped the promotion of 'Nymphetamine' a thousand fold and we now hope to go on and sell a million copies due to people downloading our songs before we put them on the website. Cheers for that. I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet. You can officially download the title track for us when it appears on the 'Resident Evil' soundtrack later this month. Thanks.
"One thing not many people have heard so far is our Bathory 'Bestial Lust' cover, which is set to appear on Japanese release of 'Nymphetamine' as an extra track. We did this before Bathory mainman Quorthon died but we'd still like to think of it as a tribute to them. Maybe this track will appear on our special edition early next year, so rest of the world... don't worry.
"The video shoot for 'Nymphetamine' takes place this week in London at a secret location and [former Theatre Of Tragedy and current Leaves's Eyes singer] Liv Kristine WILL be featured in the video. Dani tells us: 'It's sort of a murder ballad. The vibe of it is going to be like you are watching theatre. It's going to be very Shakespearian, but the lead characters are actually both females, so there is going to be a slight lesbian kink to it.' Nice... I spent some of today choosing the models for the video.
"Preparation for our South American tour has now begun and we are working on the set list in rehearsals, which is leaning more towards older tracks for the fans down there. 'Nymphetamine' will be released while we are actually in Colombia (on the 28th September), so plenty of reason for us to celebrate! As for touring plans in the rest of the world... bands tipped to be playing with us range from Mudvayne, Lacuna Coil, 3 Inches Of Blood in the USA and Type O Negative in Europe before Christmas. All this can change so please don't quote me on it. I'd just rather people hear it from the band instead of unreliable sources."

Steve Tucker Leaves Morbid Angel
Steve Tucker has decided to leave Morbid Angel. David Vincent will be in charged of the vocals and bass. Here is a message from Steve:
After many problems and much discussion with the people around me, the people I trust. I have decided it is necessary for me to step away from Morbid Angel. It has been a long trip with a lot of great shows and I have made many friends along the way. The Morbid Angel fans that not only excepted me, but reveled in my being a part of the band, have been the greatest thing about my time in Morbid Angel. They are the reason I came back to the band.
There are many reasons for me leaving the band, personal reasons, musical reasons and very logical reasons. All of which will stay between me and the band . Morbid Angel existed many years before I came along and will for many more I am sure.
I have enjoyed playing with some great musicians and touring with some great bands and meeting some incredible people all over the world. To all these people I say "Thank You" and we will meet again.
I am not done with the music business by any means. I will now be moving into other areas of the business, things I have always enjoyed, but didn't have time for. I will be moving into much more recording, production and management, so any bands interested in working with me, feel free to contact me at hewhosleeps@hotmail.com.
Again ,thank you to all of the fans for 8 years of making my hour and a half of stage time so brilliant!

Eyes Of Fire Announce New Drummer
Eyes of Fire are proud to welcome Nicky Bernardi to the fold. Nicky will be taking over drums/percussion/noise and other random acts of craziness. New Uli Jon Roth Album And Tour Dates
Guitar legend Uli Jon Roth is finally returning to the States after an absence of 19 years. News of the tour was already spreading like wildfire among the many admirers of one of the last great and original guitar heroes before the tour was even announced.
Best known for his ground-breaking work with the German hard rock band Scorpions, of which he was an original founding member, the enigmatic multi-talent is at long last embarking on a US tour, which will continue through September.
The long-awaited tour will start in Los Angeles at the House of Blues on August 26th and ends in Mexico, where Roth is head-lining shows with special guests. In the States U.J.R. is sharing the bill with the Michael Schenker Group.
Roth has often been hailed as a true genius on the guitar, always stoutly defying the conventions of the music industry and forging his own way. It is virtually impossible to categorize his output which is wide ranging from classic rock to full scale symphonic works with orchestras.
Since his time with the Scorpions and his own group Electric Sun, U.J.R. has persistently developed his unique playing style which earned him the reputation of being one of the most influential and greatest guitarists of our time. Always one to push the envelope on the guitar as well as in his symphonic compositions, Uli is seen by many as a musical trend setter who is well ahead of his time. He has been an inspiration to artists world-wide, influencing generations of younger players as well as his peers.
His show will include material from all periods of his career including a new and amazing version of his Scorpions song "The Sails of Charon," which Roth has just recorded with a symphony orchestra. The song features Liz Vandall on vocals. Furthermore Uli¹s set will feature parts of his latest release the critically-acclaimed "Metamorphosis of the Seasons," as well as material from each of his Electric Sun albums.
The format of Uli¹s set is innovative. He will be playing his legendary seven-string Sky Guitar, an instrument he designed himself, which enables him to play a full six-octave range. He will also perform in front of a cinemascope screen with just two other musicians on stage. The screen will show spectacular footage directed by the man himself, which often features the members of his own classical Sky Orchestra as well as other musicians with whom Roth interacts live. The result is a perfectly sounding trip through Space and Time.
Roth has recently toured this format in Europe with great success and is very much looking forward to touring in the US again.
The Following are confirmed dates on Uli Jon Roth U.S. Tour: More...
Meliah Rage To Release New Album
Boston’s reformed metal heroes Meliah Rage is primed to make 2004 truly a landmark year for the band. Recently having their music featured on an episode of FOX TV’s hit series "The Shield," Meliah Rage is following the success with a brand new studio album, their first in over a decade. The nine-track sledgehammer of sonic vengeance "Barely Human" is slated for release on Screaming Ferret Wreckords in coordination with Escapi Music and Navarre Distribution on August 24th. A major North American tour will soon follow.
Guitarist Anthony Nichols, guitarist Jim Koury and bass guitarist Jesse Johnson, all original members, are joined by new vocalist Paul Souza and drummer Barry Spillberg (formerly of Wargasm) on "Barely Human." Original vocalist Mike Munro decided not to take part in the Meliah Rage reunion in order to focus on family. The tracklisting for this monumental release includes: Hate, Machine, Rigid, Invincible, Bloodbath, Barely Human, Hell Song, Ungodly, Motor Psycho, Wrong Place Right Time.
"Barely Human" was produced by Joe Moody and Nichols. Moody also recorded and mixed the album at Danger Multitrack in Providence, RI. All songs were written by Nichols and Souza except "The Wrong Place," which was written by Nichols, Souza and Clark Lush, and "Ungodly," which was written by Nichols, Souza and Spillberg. Nichols completed all musical arrangements and Souza wrote all lyrics for the album. Bob Mayo, formerly of Wargasm and a one-time Meliah Rage member, contributes special bass tracks on "Invincible."
A single for the title track “Barely Human,” was recently filmed as a video on the set of the upcoming horror film "God Of Vampires," and is currently available for download on the Screaming Ferret Wreckords website here. An MP3 of the track “Hate Machine” is available at this location.
As an added bonus, the initial pressing of "Barely Human" will include a bonus disc, the previously unreleased album "Unfinished Business," which features performances by Godsmack's Sully Erna on drums. Originally recorded in 1992, the tracks on "Unfinished Business" were intended as demos in order to secure a new record deal, upon the band’s departure from Epic Records. More...

Germany's Teutonic warriors, Paragon, have teamed up with Maximum Metal to bring to life their newest recording sessions. Paragon have entered Karo studios to record their newest album, "Revenge," and with this recording they will allow Maximum Metal a peek inside the studios via a studio diary.
Each day Jan Bunning, bassist for Paragon, will write a diary entry wrapping up the previous day's recording activities. "Revenge" marks the follow-up to the band's successful album "The Dark Legacy," released by Remedy last year. The new record will be partly recorded at Karo Studios with the help of an engineer, and the rest of the recording process and mixing will be done at Piet Sielck's new Powerhouse Studios. The recording session should last 21-25 days, and will be completed by October/November. The artwork for the record will once again be done by Dirk Illing of XMD. Jan tells Maximum Metal he has an idea in mind for the cover, but it could change.
The working titles for the album right now are:
1.Assassins
2.Traitor
3.Before The Storm
4.Impaler
5.Revenge
6.Battle Rages On
7.Master Of The Sea

Look for the Paragon Studio Diary at Maximum Metal starting on August 12, 2004, in the Studio Diary section.

Kittie Forced To Cancel All Reminaing Tour Dates
Canadian metal quartet KITTIE have officially cancelled the remaining dates on their North American headlining tour. As reported yesterday, due to severe dehydration and exhaustion, KITTIE drummer Mercedes Lander was hospitalized on Wednesday (August 11) in Cleveland, Ohio, where the band were scheduled to perform that night. Mercedes' condition recurred earlier today (August 13), and as a result she is no longer fit to continue the tour. The tests in Cleveland were inconclusive; although Mercedes appeared to be recuperating, it is now clear that this is not the case. Mercedes is returning to Canada to undergo more extensive examinations to determine the exact nature of her illness. The remaining dates of the tour will be made up after Mercedes has fully recovered. "The band wishes to thank all of the fans for their love and support through the tour and now at this critical time," reads a posting on the group's web site. "Expect to see KITTIE back in full force and back on tour later this year."
