Nicodemus Part Ways With Guitarist

Portland-based goth metallers NICODEMUS have parted ways with longtime lead guitarist Matthew McGee. According to a press release, "He leaves the group under great terms and remains a friend to the band. The band wishes him only the best in his future efforts. The band, which is based out of Portland, Oregon, is now accepting inquiries and scheduling auditions for McGee's replacement. Contact the band at: info@nicodemus.us.

As previously reported, NICODEMUS recently released their third album, entitled "Vanity Is A Virtue", through the Greek label Sonic Age Records. The album reportedly owes more to the progressive sound than previous NICODEMUS releases, 2000's "Tales of the Lovelorn and Necromantic" (Dark Throne Music) and 2003's "The Supernatural Omnibus" (Dark Symphonies), which saw the band focusing on a goth/black metal-based sound with progressive elements.

Suidakra Part with Vocalist, Announce Replacement

German melodic black/death metallers SUIDAKRA have parted ways with guitarist/vocalist Matthias.

"After the Summer Breeze festival, it was decided by the band as a whole that it would be best for everyone if Matthias stepped down from his position in the band," reads a posting on the group's web site. "Matthias will therefore play his last SUIDAKRA show at the Bloodstock festival [in the U.K.] next weekend.

"After this decision was made, the band contacted their former guitarist/singer, and much to their surprise (and the surprise of many fans, no doubt!), Marcel is willing and able to rejoin SUIDAKRA as a full-time member! You'll be able to catch Marcel on stage with the others at the remaining SUIDAKRA shows after Bloodstock. SUIDAKRA will then take a break from touring until mid-2006, in order to concentrate 100 percent on the songwriting for the next album."

SUIDAKRA are continuing to tour in support of their seventh album, "Command to Charge", available now on Armageddon Music. The follow-up to 2003's "Signs for the Fallen" was recorded at Gernhard studio in Siegburg, Germany. Mastering duties were handled at the Monoposto Mastering Studio (DIE TOTEN HOSEN, SCORPIONS, TITO & TARANTULA etc.).

Byzantine Explain Dropping Off Of IEMF Tour

BYZANTINE have posted the following message on their official website regarding dropping off the International Extreme Music Tour:

"OK. Just so everyone knows exactly what is going on with us, here is why we are not doing the IEMF tour. We were screwed by Jeffrey Churchwell at Digger International. There we no internal problems with the band. Yes, OJ had a death in the family. That’s not the issue. No, no one in the band is addicted to anything. We were fully prepared to do this tour. We have signed contracts with the venues. We just ordered new merchandise. We were in the process of securing more reliable transportation for the tour. In short, we have been taking all the steps necessary to do this tour. I will state this again clearly: We were screwed by Jeffrey Churchwell at Digger International. That is why we’re not on the tour.

Stating that there were “circumstances beyond our control” is nothing but PC horseshit. More...

Deathstars Part Ways With Guitarist

Sweden's Deathstars have parted ways with guitarist Erik "Beast X Electric" Halvorsen. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"Due to lack of enthusiasm and living too far away from the band's location in Stockholm, Sweden, Beast X Electric's no longer a part of Deathstars.

"It has for a longer time been a problem for the band with the huge distance from Beast X Electric's hometown on the Swedish West Coast to Stockholm, and the problem with getting everything to function timewise has taken too much energy for Beast X as well as for the rest of the band.

"Deathstars is now reduced to only four members. Nightmare plays both guitars on the upcoming album, titled 'Termination Bliss.' The band and Beast X are still the best of friends and the former guitarist will always be a huge part of Deathstars' spirit.

"On the upcoming tours, Deathstars probably will use a session guitarist. Information on who that’ll be will be presented when that decision is made.

"Beast X would like to thank all fans for a 'motherfuckin' great time' and says that he in the nearest future will try to extend his collection of Harley Davidson motorcycles."

Commented Beast X Electric: "Deathstars will always be huge part of my life and the times with the band have resulted in more memories than an average person collects in a lifetime. "

Deathstars' debut album, "Synthetic Generation," was released in November 2003.

Impaled Announce Tour Dates With Disgorge

Oakland’s Impaled are preparing to defile the south-western US. Supporting their latest release, "Death After Life," and performing with Disgorge and Blessing The Hogs, the band will be surreptitiously cavorting with local morticians and grave robbers beginning Sept. 23rd. Vocalist/guitarist Sean McGrath said of the tour, “ We’re super excited. No, wait, that's how I feel about ordering pizza and watching Dawn of the Dead. Of course we're all really itching to get out there and play with Blessing The Hogs and Disgorge, the only bands kind enough to agree to such a suicidal endeavor. As most people know, getting involved with us is nearly almost always a disaster of immense proportions. The southwest is one of the best areas of the country for metal and the fans are always totally insane. As most people know, we love the fans.”

Kataklysm Say Goodbye To Voivod Guitarist

Kataklysm has posted this message on their website for Voivod guitarist, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, who passed away on Friday:

R.I.P. Piggy...

It's with great sadness that we have learned today that Denis aka "Piggy" has passed away. The impact of his guitar influence was felt worldwide. His work in VOIVOD opened the doors to many metal bands in Canada and gave all of us hope for better things in this scene. He was the nicest guy you could meet and the most humble person you could talk too. We are sad to see you go brother but your legacy will live forever. We will see you on the other side.

Our best wishes go out to all in the D'Amour family and to our Canadian metal godfathers VOIVOD. Stay strong, and as we say back home... "Lachez pas les gars"!!

From all in Kataklysm.
