MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I have made up my mind [regarding whether I will continue with MEGADETH or pursue a solo career] and will tell you all on the night of the Buenos Aires concert [on October 9]. It will be up to the fans in Argentina to break the news to you after their last song."

Kittie Announce New Lineup, Photo Available

According to the London Free Press, Canadian metal band KITTIE have announced the details of their new lineup. Joining guitarist/vocalist Morgan Lander and drummer Mercedes Lander are two new members — guitarist Tara McLeod, formerly with Strathroy, Ontario area band SHERRY, and bassist Trish Doan, who played with London, Ontario rockers HER and is a Sheridan College student. The revamped group (view photo) will make its live debut at Call the Office in London, Ontario Thursday night (Sept. 29). The four rockers have been rehearsing daily at KITTIE's London base.

Doan and McLeod join a band that has sold hundreds of thousands of CDs, played hundreds of club gigs and been part of Ozzfest. None of those hits are recent, which is plenty of reason for KITTIE to start reconnecting with its fans. KITTIE fans follow the band online and soon will have a downloadable EP — "a new taster," the band said — to introduce new material.

KITTIE's other dates include a show at Chicago's Windy City Invitational metal fest on Saturday (Oct. 1). The band last played Call the Office in June 2003. Before that, it had opened for U.S. band SLIPKNOT at another London venue in April 2000.

"Every time we do play here, we want it to be special," Morgan Lander said.

Tripp Eisen To Serve One Year Sentence

RollingStone.com is reporting that former STATIC-X and DOPE guitarist Tripp Eisen has pled guilty to having oral sex with a minor and will serve one year in California State prison on that charge.

On June 24 Eisen accepted a plea bargain in California for "having oral sex with a person younger than fourteen years old and more than ten years younger than him," stemming from a February arrest, according to Orange County Superior Court manager Gai Spickard. A date for his incarceration has yet to be set. At the time of his arrest, the guitarist posted $100,000 bail and fled the state — only to be discovered when arrested for another sex-related offense, in New Jersey, just two weeks later.

On October 7, Eisen, born Tod Rex Salvador, will face another series of sex-related charges when arraigned before a trial judge in New Jersey. A local woman claimed that her fourteen-year-old daughter had sex with Eisen, who was posing as his own impersonator, leading to the guitarist's indictment by a grand jury in June on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, enticing a minor and endangering the welfare of a child.

New Streaming Track From Roadrunner United

Another track from the upcoming ROADRUNNER UNITED "The All-Star Sessions" CD, entitled "In the Fire", has been made available for streaming at Roadrun.com.

This full-length release, in stores on October 11, 2005, is a "master class" in hard rock/metal. Boasting 55 artists from 42 of Roadrunner's past and present bands, the album will contain original tracks that are collaborations between numerous Roadrunner stars.

Four central musicians were originally chosen to produce and write the songs. Joey Jordison (SLIPKNOT), Dino Cazares (ex-FEAR FACTORY/BRUJERIA), Robert Flynn (MACHINE HEAD) and Matthew Heafy (TRIVIUM). These four musicians play on the songs they have written and have also assembled a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician has played for more than one writer/producer and each song features a different vocalist.

Written and produced by Heafy, "In the Fire" features King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) on vocals, Mike D'Antonio (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) on bass, Dave Chavarri (ILL NINO) on drums, and Heafy on lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars.

Iron Maiden All-Star Tribute Planned

On October 11, IRON MAIDEN fans the world over will have something new to get excited about as the newly re-launched Restless Records releases "Numbers from the Beast: An All Star Salute to Iron Maiden", a tribute to the legendary band. The album, which features MAIDEN's own Paul Di'Anno and marks Restless' return to its metal and punk roots, is produced by Grammy award winner and tribute album pioneer Bob Kulick (KISS, METALLICA, AEROSMITH), along with Brett Chassen, and features appearances from current or former members of IRON MAIDEN, KISS, AC/DC, MOTÖRHEAD, ANTHRAX, DIO, JUDAS PRIEST, TESTAMENT, TWISTED SISTER, EXTREME, WHITESNAKE, SLAUGHTER, HELMET, DOKKEN and many others.

"It's a fitting salute to an awesome band and may be the best tribute I've ever produced. I really like what we've done to these amazing songs, and more importantly, the band approves," says Kulick of the album.

"Numbers from the Beast" features 11 classic IRON MAIDEN tunes revamped in honor of the band's 25th anniversary. The final track listing is as follows:

01. Run to the Hills
02. Wasted Years
03. Wrathchild
04. Flight of Icarus
05. Fear of the Dark
06. The Trooper
07. Aces High
08. 2 Minutes to Midnight
09. Can I Play With Madness?
10. The Evil That Men Do
11. The Wickerman

The cover of every official IRON MAIDEN album has featured a zombie called "Eddie." Eddie has been painted by artist Derek Riggs for 20 years. "Numbers from the Beast" cover art was naturally painted by Riggs and is a must-have for any MAIDEN fan.

"Numbers from the Beast" marks the first release on the newly revamped Restless Records. William Hein, current president of Rykodisc and former head of Enigma Records, co-founded Restless in 1985 as a punk and metal sub-label of Enigma. Restless became a stand-alone label after Capitol-EMI acquired Enigma, and was subsequently acquired by Rykodisc in 2003. Now, back with a new sound and logo, Restless returns to its roots with the MAIDEN salute, as well as an upcoming reissue from California punk outfit 45 GRAVE.

Disturbed Debuts At #1 On Billboard Top 200

According to a press release, DISTURBED's third album, "Ten Thousand Fists" (Reprise), has debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard Top 200 chart with sales of 238,000. This marks the band's second No. 1-charting album, after 2002's "Believe" slammed into the top of the chart (with first-week sales of 284,000), building on the momentum of their triple-platinum debut "The Sickness".

"We've always done things our own way and to have our efforts saluted by our fans is really the ultimate reward," said DISTURBED in a joint statement.

The dramatic arrival of "Ten Thousand Fists" coincides with the Top 5 active rock single "Stricken", of which frontman David Draiman has noted: "It's about those moments when someone comes into your life and it's almost as if you've been afflicted with a disease you can't get rid of. Devastating and debilitating." The band filmed the song's video in an abandoned Los Angeles hospital with director Nathan Cox (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON, KORN, LINKIN PARK, STAIND). It is highlighted by dynamic performance footage of DISTURBED interspersed with a wide range of stirring images.

The buzz on "Ten Thousand Fists" began in July when the band made the song "Guarded" available on iTunes. Although "Guarded" wasn't officially released as a single — the track was offered to specialty metal radio shows — it vaulted into the Top Ten at Mainstream Rock radio as a result of popular demand. In addition, the album's title track was featured in EA Sports' mega-popular "Madden 2006" football game. Rock fans also got a taste of "Ten Thousand Fists" ahead of its street date when the band debuted songs from it on a frenzied North American summer tour that ran from August 3 to September 18.

As I Lay Dying Shoot New Video

On September 18th As I Lay Dying teamed up with director Lex Halaby (Killswitch Engage, Mudvayne) to add "Through Struggle" to the AILD'S video arsenal.

Shot at the Morell Meats Lot, an abandoned meat locker near downtown Los Angeles , these eerie cement structures played as a backdrop to “Through Struggle” the emotionally charged second single off As I Lay Dying’s record breaking album ‘Shadows Are Security’. The video and song are tightly connected; bringing life to a concept that captures the strength of an intense and powerful song.

Band members and Lex collaborated on the unique and vividly dark concept drawing inspiration from a very specific stanza in the lyrics:

Only through struggle have I found rest
With a piece of me taken away
I begin to understand
Hollow out this machine like chest
With its gears that turn to make me feel
And assembled thoughts that fade away
Remove from me this deception that I called love

The strong imagery created during this shoot brings a new life to "Through Struggle." Tim Lambesis elaborates "Spending a whole day in an old abandoned meat locker may not sound like a good time, but we really could not be happier with how well the video shoot went with Lex Halaby and his crew. The content came out way better than we could have expected, the imagery really captured the song, and we can't wait for you all to see it."

Watch Out for “Through Struggle video programs across the air waves.
