Katatonia Complete Work On New Album
Sweden's KATATONIA have posted the following message on their official web site:
"After spending literally the whole Swedish summer (and not seeing much of it) in a barn called Fascination Street studios, working day and night to finish our seventh full-length album, we finally made it - the album is recorded and mixed and will be mastered tomorrow at Cutting Room, Stockholm. Release date, album/song titles and artwork to be announced and presented in one of the next updates. Now, the band departs to Mother Russia for the weekend for a two-gig happening, a rather good oportunity to celebrate the massive work we now leave behind us. Let the vodka flow!"

Fozzy Drummer Departs, Replacement Announced
Frank "Bud" Fontsere has left Fozzy and Stuck Mojo. This is an amicable decision between Bud and Rich Ward. For the upcoming Fozzy and Stuck Mojo tours of the UK, Fozzy are joined by "veteran Atlanta drummer" Eric Sanders.
Rich had this to say:
"Eric has two music degrees and the largest collection of metal cds that I've ever seen. He is what we refer to as a "retarded" drummer (meaning that I feel retarded when see him play). Eric has some big shoes to fill and Bud can never be replaced, but jaws will drop when this guy gets behind the kit.
Please everybody, join me below in wishing Frank good luck in the future and hope that we see him back on stage real soon."
Novembers Doom Added To Invitational
Chicago doom metallers NOVEMBERS DOOM have been added to the Windy City Invitational, scheduled to take place on October 1st in Chicago, IL, at The Metro. Vocalist Paul Kuhr made the following statement:
“We are extremely honored to be asked to perform on the inaugural WCI in our hometown, Chicago. The Metro is legendary, the stage and sound are incredible. It was important to us that we be there to represent our hometown metal scene. We'll be performing as part of the vanguard for the awesome line up this show has. The diversity of the bill is amazing, like no other festival in this country.

NOVEMBERS DOOM along with MACABRE, ACUMEN NATION and HURTLOCKER prove WCI is truly a representation of amazingly heavy bands not only from around the world, but also our hometown of Chicago, and believe me, we are not coming to disappoint!
The HURTLOCKER guys and us are going to donate 50 of our own shirts, 25 each, and our label, The End Records has 50 DISCS from a variety of their bands that we are going to give to the first 50 people through when doors open at noon. You have to come early, before 12:30 to score the free t-shirts and discs. Into Eternity Prepares for Opeth Tour
Frontman Tim Roth of Canada's Into Eternity has posted the following message on the band's official website:
"Hello Everyone!
It has been an amazing month for Into Eternity. We have just landed the opening slot on the Eastern USA , Opeth/Nevermore Tour! This whole year for us just keeps getting better and better. The whole band is very thankful for this huge opportunity. The last time we got to tour with Nevermore was way back in 2001. The band was still young, but Nevermore treated us like brothers. That is something I will never forget. The last time we saw them was in Italy at The Gods of Metal.
All the guys are fans of Opeth as well and we can't wait to get on the road with these talented bands. There will be a high level of musicianship, so hopefully we can learn off of these amazing players! This will be a great package to witness, so I know all of our diehard fans will be there to support us as usual. Take care and we will see you on the road soon!
keep it metal!"
Mnemic Begin Work On Third Album
Danish modern metallers Mnemic have commenced work on material for their third album, which is untitled at the moment. "The band is full motion writing the new material and it's coming along as butter on bread!", the group writes in a press release.
"The new album will be produced by someone in Sweden who happens to be one of the most acclaimed frontmen/producers in the metal world today. And yes, he happens to live in the Abyss, and his name is Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain). Mixing duties would come from another legend which we'll tell you all about very soon — now go spread them rumors!"
Mnemic - who recently enlisted Swedish vocalist Tony Jelencovich (formerly of Transport Leage and B-Thong) to replace departed frontman Michael Bøgballe - will be teaming up with Meshuggah, God Forbid and The Haunted for a North American tour beginning in early October.
