Kataklysm Complete Recording Of New Album
Kataklysm have completed the recording of the band's 8th studio album.
GuitaristpProducer J-F Dagenais comments: "After having spent 2 months behind the production helm for the new Kataklysm album, we have now achieved what we wanted from a to z. I worked extremely hard on this record to get it to sound like no other Kataklysm album and Imust say - when you have the time to work on something, it DOES benefit greatly! I'm really happy with the results we have. Everyone in the band gave 150% and I can't wait for everyone to hear this album. I have to agree with one of Maurizio's previous statements when he said this album at once on a technical side and yet with its blazing tempos, has been the most difficult album for me to record my guitar tracks. Felt like at some point my wrist and fingers were gona give in... but it was well worth the pain!"
The band's 8th studio album "In the Arms of Devastation" will be released Feb. 20th 2006, followed by a massive touring campaign.

Arch Enemy Guitarist: US Bands Sound More Swedish
Kyle Jongerden of the Vermont Cynic recently conducted an interview with ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Vermont Cynic: Why do you think heavy metal is becoming so popular in America?
Michael: "I mean, everything seems to go around in circles. Now people seem to be more open. A few years ago it was bands like GODSMACK. That stuff was still pretty heavy, I guess, but it had a certain atmosphere, a 'nu-metal' tag or whatever. I don't really know, I'm not from here so I don't really know what goes on too much. I just know there's an increased interest in what we do, that's always exciting. There are some bands that are doing really well, like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SHADOWS FALL. They're doing really well and it's cool. I don't really follow it too closely so I don't know what that is. We've just been doing what we've always been doing.
"When we started out, no one was interested over here. For the first three albums nobody even really bothered to schedule an interview for us over here. There was no interest and we definitely didn't tour. And then suddenly, yeah, things come around and it's like, 'Yeah this band's really cool,' and it's like, 'Oh, yeah, they've got guitar solos,' but it was before anyone was really into us.
"We really haven't changed for this tour [Ozzfest]. We're evolving as a band but we're doing what we're going to do. We don't pay attention to what goes on. We don't know what things are happening. Something that we thought about was that we definitely want to retain our European sound, our European feel. I know that some European bands are trying to sound American, it seems that way when you listen to stuff. Then a lot of Americans are trying to sound like Swedish bands. I definitely want to keep our European metal atmosphere."
Vermont Cynic: If you could create a genre to describe ARCH ENEMY, what would it be?
Michael: "Pure metal (laughs). It's just metal to me. Extreme metal I guess. There are labels and labels you know. I understand heavy metal, I understand thrash metal, I even understand death metal. But now it seems like these boxes are getting smaller and smaller and it's not that fun sitting in a box that small and like, 'This is what we are.' Then you do a song that's different and everybody will say, 'Well that's not what they should be doing, it's a bit weird.' Music is an art form, it's supposed to be creative, you're supposed to have fun with it. Be creative and be an artist."

Obituary Video Interview Posted Online
A video interview with OBITUARY members Frank Watkins (bass) and Donald Tardy (drums), conducted on Sunday, September 4 prior to the band's performance in Hartford, Connecticut, has been posted online at www.heavymetalsource.com. Watkins and Tardy discuss the recent departure (and subsequent return) of guitarist Allen West, the group's new CD, singer John Tardy's impending fatherhood, and the second leg of the band's North American tour.
OBITUARY's latest CD, "Frozen In Time", was released in July via Roadrunner Records. The group's first collection of new songs since 1997's "Back from the Dead", "Frozen in Time" was self-produced by the band, with Mark Prator and Scott Burns engineering, and was mastered by Tom Morris at Morrisound.
Headline News
Teen At Heavy Metal Christian Concert Brutalized
Brock Parker of Alabama's WTVM News Leader 9 is reporting that a teenager at a Christian heavy metal concert was brutalized by police this past Saturday night (Sept. 3).
Witnesses at The Breaker Box club in Lanett, Alabama say the teenager was calling home to get a ride when police threw him into a light pole and then onto the ground.
"I saw two Lanett police officers. One of them grabbed a young black male, head-locked him, ran him into this pole, slammed him to the ground, put their knee in his back and cuffed him," John Keith told WTVM News Leader 9.
That's when the lead singer of ONLY AFTER FAITH grabbed his video camera.
"A blow to the back of the head, and a couple of knees to the back. They finally got a little 13 or 15-year-old boy in the car," said Adrian Buice.
The video apparently shows the boy, without handcuffs, refusing to get into the car. The officer uses his nightstick to force him into the back seat.
According to police, they cannot comment on the case until an independent investigator looks into the incident.
"When his investigation is complete, if there's a violation of policy or law, then we'll take steps to address the situation at that time," said Chief Ron Docimo of the Lanett Police Department.
Witnesses say people were being pulled from their cars by the officers after trying to leave the club.
WTVM News Leader 9 asked Docimo if this was standard procedure, if the officers have been suspended, or if police cameras show anything different. He said he is not allowed to comment until after an investigation has been conducted.
