Trashlight Vision Parts Ways With Drummer
TRASHLIGHT VISION, the new band featuring MURDERDOLLS guitarist Acey Slade, has parted ways with drummer Lenny Thomas.
"This was not a quick, impulsive decision," Slade writes in a statement. "TRASHLIGHT VISION has no hard feelings. Their only hope is that Lenny goes on to musical endevors that make him happy. Lenny is an awesome drummer and deserves to be in the right situation.
Slade continues: "Our U.S. tour is going to rock like fuck! We will kick off our U.S. tour on Sept. 14th at Snitch (Duff McKagan and Scott Weiland's bar) in New York City, which takes us all around the U.S. three times before taking a quick victory lap in the U.K. We are looking forward to seeing all our U.S. and U.K. fans out on the road." Machine Men Begin Recording New Album
Finnish metal act MACHINE MEN has entered the studio to record the follow-up to its Century Media Records debut, "Elegies". Entitled "The Shadow Gallery", the new album is scheduled for a January 2007 release through Century Media Records.
Vocalist Antony checks in from Fantom Studio (ROTTEN SOUND, NEGATIVE) in Tampere, Finland: "We are in the studio [for] three weeks [now] and the songs sound good and very powerful! And we are in schedule 'cos we can record 24 hours a day if we want. Of course, we also have to sleep sometime ;-). The new album will be heavier and faster than the last one, but still melodic. And a good thing is — all the songs work live very well. Can't wait for the moment when I hear all the songs mixed and the feeling of intoxication after that."
MACHINE MEN's "Falling" single from the "Elegies" album landed in the Finnish Top Five and the band successfully toured Europe with SONATA ARCTICA. The also made several high-profile appearances at the big European summer festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Graspop Metal Meeting and Earthshaker Fest.
Manowar Postpone Tour
The release of the upcoming MANOWAR album has been postponed, and as a result, so has the accompanying European "Demons, Dragons and Warriors Tour".
However, fans should not be alarmed, as MANOWAR has a good reason for this postponement. "This is actually being done for the betterment of our fans," says bassist and MANOWAR founder Joey DeMaio. "After having to delay the tour the first time due to Karl's [Logan] accident the band returned to the studio to continue work on the album. We wanted to do something special for the fans and so we decided the only real way to thank them for their faith would be to give them more MANOWAR metal."
"Thus the 'Gods Of War' has grown into a massive, multifaceted concept, similar to Wagner's 'Ring Cycle', this is a massive project of epic proportions. The really good news is that elements of this grand new opus will be released periodically over the course of the next year so that fans won't have to wait years for new songs. Naturally as the album concept has grown in the true MANOWAR style the tour production has grown beyond epic proportions as well and this next tour will definitely bring the metal concert experience to new heights." Abba Metal Tribute Band On The Rise
London based hard rockers, 'Abbatoir' are getting more notice, having attracted the attention of a major record label, and plan to enter the studio to record an album soon. What makes this band "special" is that all of their songs are cover versions of classic Abba music.
It all began when Londoner, Lance Barrington went to the local pub with a friend and they began to discuss music. When Abba came on the jukebox, they joked, "Imagine a heavy metal version of Abba!"
Barrington quickly set about recruiting three other band members, then faced the challenge of finding a vocalist with a set of lungs to match the Abba girls. After auditioning hundreds, they eventually stumbled over 24 year old florist, Laura.
Laura comments, "I run an international florist supplying flowers for a mix of clients including Liam Neeson, Kiera Knightley and even George Bush. But when I auditioned for Abbatoir, I knew it was something special. It's not everyday I can express my love for Abba and heavy metal at the same time!"
Abbatoir have been such a hit, they are now being booked to play throughout the UK. They have even set their sights on an ultimate goal; Getting their music heard by Abba themselves.
"I'm really excited about the recent developments in our career." Laura continued. "I would love for Benny and Bjorn to hear our music. Who knows? Maybe we are the band to coax Abba into a revival. We could certainly liven up their back catalogue!"
With hard 'monster' rock band, Lordi recently winning this year's Eurovision Song Contest, the band feel heavy metal music is ready to be accepted into the mainstream.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when Lordi won Eurovision." Laura states. "With this kind of crossover into the mainstream, it seems like the perfect time to expose the World to our music. Of course, Abba came to fame when they won the contest in 1974 performing 'Waterloo'."
It's estimated Abba have sold more than 300 million records, with 25 individual singles on the UK top 40. Their greatest hits package recently spent 500 weeks on the UK albums chart.
Abbatoir will be in the recording studio shortly and hope to have a CD out by the end of this year. You can listen to Abbatoir's music at their MySpace page.

Blinded Colony Finishing Up "Bedtime Prayers"
Swedish melodic death metal band Blinded Colony are currently putting the finishing touches on their upcoming album, "Bedtime Prayers" which is to be released November 10 in Europe and November 14 Worldwide. Vocalist Johan Schuter writes from SoundPalace Studios:
"Hey! This is Johan Schuster writing from the house next to the studio. Finally my throat feels a lot better, and any day now I will do the last scream of the record. I had a 7 days break from recording since my voice got really hoarse, and that really paid off well. Got really scared when I heard of a friend that had the same symptoms and had to use surgery to have a cyst removed from his vocal chords. In worst case, if I had continued screaming, I might have had to rest my voice for months, which means no gigs. So better safe than sorry.
"Now all the songs have come together and sound really, really good. I can't fucking wait to let all you people listen to it. The response you guys gave us when we had the pre-production of "Heart" online for 36 hours was incredible! If you liked that, then the rest of the songs won't dissapoint you! For those of you who didn't like "Heart" we got some really heavy tunes on the album too. We're not that cheesy all the time hahaha! For all of you who lives in Germany, our neighbours with sooo cheap beer, we've got gigs confirmed in December with Ektomorf. That will really kick some major ass!
"In November your ears will bleed but your mouth will smile! Don't miss our album, Bedtime Prayers!"
The full studio report can be found on the band's Official Myspace Page or on the band's Official Website.
Blinded Colony will take part in several upcoming gigs:
October 13 Gothenburg, Sweden @ Belsepub (W/ Sonic Syndicate)
December 14 Muenchen (Munich), Germany @ Metropolis (W/Ektomorf)
December 15 Adelsheim, Germany @ Live Factory (W/ Ektomorf)
Pivotal Rockordings also plans host a special listening party for the American fans in Chicago. More details on the listening party will be announced as the release date approaches.

See You Next Tuesday Signs With Ferret Music
Ferret Music has issued the following press release regarding the signing of grindcore band See You Next Tuesday:
Ferret Music would like to welcome See You Next Tuesday as the newest artist to their roster. This Michigan based four piece plays what they simply refer to as "Brutal Grind for brutal dudes" but aficionados of brutal music will also note the band's use of innovation and experimentation to expand the genre past blast beats and cookie monster growls. Main songwriter Drew Slavik (guitar) who never repeats chords in the band's songs is obsessed with bringing back the 80's shred style. Commenting on this he says "I only play vintage 80's Kramers and made it my mission to bring back the whammy bar!" Similarly driven vocalist Brandon "Bear" Schroeder can deliver screams in two pitches at once using a circular breathing technique similar to the throat singing method of the Tibetan Tuvan monks. Completing the arsenal, rhythm section of Andy Dalton (drums) and Travis Martin (bass) populate the bottom end with enough propulsion to launch an A-Bomb.
It is hard to believe that this same band only started two and a half years ago as a joke. "I originally was playing bass and just decided to pick up the guitar on a whim, our drummer is a guitar player and our vocalist was given the job because he had cool facial hair" Slavik admits. Writing a ridiculously over the top grind album in three weeks, the band self-released it and played locally for close to a year. Recounted by Slavik "We realized that we could write songs that didn't suck and people actually enjoyed what we did as a joke, so we thought, what could we do if we took this seriously?" The band who averages twenty one years old have been touring non-stop over the past year across the continental U.S. as well as Canada and Tijuana, Mexico. These self-booked tours have been as little as four days at a time and as much as a month straight. Playing with relatively every notable band in heavy music in recent history, the band has developed an especially strong bond with Number 12 Looks Like You and A Job For A Cowboy. Ferret Music kept hearing the buzz about this band from different sources including Number 12's manager and came calling.
See You Next Tuesday will be recording their Ferret debut later this year with Andreas Magnusson (Scarlet, The Black Dahlia Murder) for an early 2007 debut. You can check them out here.
