Warcon Announces Special Saw III Inspired Show
In anticipation of the opening of Saw III, which hits theaters October 27th, the Saw franchise teams up with Warcon Records to begin "pulling out all the stops" with a show at Webster Hall in New York City, October 19th. The show focuses on the musical side of Saw.
The evening combines appearances by bands featured on the Saw III soundtrack, to be released October 24th, via Artist Addiction, Warcon Enterprises and Fontana Distribution. The night will be headlined by the infamous Helmet, The Smashup and Hydrovibe. The show will be hosted by Shawnee Smith (who stars as "Amanda" in all three Saw films). Special guests from the Saw franchise will also make appearances.
The show will also feature a Saw museum that includes: torture devices, headgear, set pieces and even Jigsaw’s infamous puppet "Billie" as well as other authentic props from the Saw franchise. All on exhibition for the first and only time ever. As an added bonus, true Saw devotees will be able to join the "Circle of Blood." Circle of Blood participants will gain early access to the venue for a private meet and greet autograph session with Shawnee Smith, the bands, and members of the cast and will take home a commemorative bag of Saw merchandise.

Kiss May Tour Again, But No Plans To Record
Billboard.com reports: The Kiss Army may be able to pack its gear for a tour in the near future, but not an album. The group's Paul Stanley, preparing for the Oct. 24 release of his solo album "Live To Win" and an attendant tour, tells Billboard.com he's "sure there will be a [Kiss] tour at some point."
He even confirms that one of the ideas being discussed is a traveling version of the orchestral shows Kiss played in 2003 in Australia, which resulted in the "Kiss Symphony" CD and DVD releases.
"It's not out of the realm of possibility," says Stanley, who welcomed his second son, Colin, with wife Erin on Sept. 6. "Anything's possible, but we're far away from conforming or committing to something like that. I'll let you know when it's true."
New Kiss music is another matter, however. Stanley says as far as he's concerned, trying to make a new album in the shadow of Kiss' classic repertoire is, at the very least, a challenge. "The fact is, [fans] may tolerate the new songs, but it's the old ones you want to hear," he notes. "I think Jimmy Page and Robert Plant found that out. The [Rolling] Stones certainly know it. The Who certainly know it. So unless you're willing to go into the studio accepting that how your album will be received will never match your expectations, I'm not sure it's worth the effort."
What would it take to change his mind? Control, Stanley says. "I would consider doing it if I could do it the way I wanted to do it," he explains. "If 'Live to Win' was good for anything, it was me confirming how I believe I'd like music to sound that I'm a part of. To do another Kiss album, I would not be willing to compromise my point of view perhaps as much as I have in recent years."
But how would that go over with longtime Kiss partner Gene Simmons? "Well, y'know, you'll have to see if we go into the studio," replies Stanley -- who says he's not yet watched an episode of Simmons' new A&E reality show, "Gene Simmons Family Jewels."
Stanley takes a break from diaper duty to begin a 15-date solo tour on Oct. 21 in Atlanta.

Manowar Reveals "Gods of War" Themes
In MANOWAR news, some details have been revealed about the new full-length album “Gods Of War”, which will be released in mid to late January of 2007.
MANOWAR has always used warrior imagery that takes the listener back to legendary times. These themes have included the dark ages, Greek mythology and Norse mythology. MANOWAR’s upcoming opus “Gods Of War” will feature Nordic themes as evidenced by the “ The Sons Of Odin” EP.
“Gods Of War” has evolved into a multi-part epic cycle which will include tributes to the Gods of Valhalla. Continuing MANOWAR’s mission to never stray from their heavy metal style, “Gods Of War” will present a new level of heaviness, intensity and brutality to the MANOWAR mythos. “With this kind of theme… when you are paying tribute to Odin, the God of War, country music or jazz would not create the appropriate mental imagery and would not do justice to the Father of the Gods himself,” says MANOWAR bassist and founder Joey DeMaio. “Heavy Metal is needed to tell this tale.”
Finally, also the new cover artwork for “The Sons Of Odin “ EP, by longtime MANOWAR collaborator Ken Kelly, has been revealed: "The Sons Of Odin" EP - Jewel Case and "The Sons Of Odin" EP - Immortal Edition Package
Release dates for “The Sons Of Odin “ EP follow:
October 6, 2006 ( Germany )
October 9, 2006 ( Europe )
October 24, 2006 ( USA )

A Happy Chris Cornell Can Still Write Songs
News Chris Cornell offers advice in the October issue of Men's Health, on newsstands September 19th, saying you don't have to feel down to be creative. "If you're depressed long enough, it's almost a comfort, a state of mind that you've made peace with because you've been in it so long," the Audioslave frontman explained. "But I never felt like I had to be depressed or unhappy to write songs." The happy family man explains in the "Take It From Me" column that he isn't concerned that domestic bliss is hindering his songwriting. "Now with my wife and my babies, I don't slip into that type of depression anymore. And I'm having the best time I've ever had in terms of creativity."
Axl Rose Explains "Chinese Democracy" Delays
News In a brief interview with New York magazine backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose explained what's been holding up the release of the oft-delayed 'Chinese Democracy', an album he's spent more than a decade working on. "It's not about being a control freak," he said. "It's about being maybe smart enough to go, 'No, that's a bad idea.' That's all it's about keeping the ability to at least have a shot as opposed to something that's just an obvious disaster. I want to make a good record. I don't want to throw a brick. This cannot be Shaq at the free-throw line." Rose added that the disc will surface before the end of 2006.
