Axl Rose Explains Long Delay Releasing "Chinese Democracy"

News In a brief interview with New York magazine backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards, Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose explained what's been holding up the release of the oft-delayed 'Chinese Democracy', an album he's spent more than a decade working on. "It's not about being a control freak," he said. "It's about being maybe smart enough to go, 'No, that's a bad idea.' That's all it's about keeping the ability to at least have a shot as opposed to something that's just an obvious disaster. I want to make a good record. I don't want to throw a brick. This cannot be Shaq at the free-throw line." Rose added that the disc will surface before the end of 2006.

Give it up folks. this album will never be as good as every one hopes. here's what will happen: Axl Rose will continue to stomp all over the good memories people have of gnr by d***ing around and eventualy release an album called chinese democracy. it will hit record stores as one of the most anticipated rock albums ever, then thousands of fans will put the cd i their stereos waiting to be blown away.. as the album progresses the listener will become more and more p***ed off when they realize that the cd sucks and axl rose is not the music god they thought they had been praying to. a mob of angry and dissapointed fans will storm axl's house and kill him. the end.

I must also admit that BD said it best...what a fantastic interview...it captured the readers attention and held onto it.
I myself seen GnR back in '88. (a fantastic show..!!!) I really dont think anything new will be as good as that era of GnR.... I heard the new stuff when it was leaked to radio last winter and it was actually pretty decent...It sounds like GnR just because of Axl singing. I think alot of the delay has been him wanting to make it SO great.,but I think at the same time he may have lost some of the fans due to amount of time its taken to complete the project....ALOT has changed in the music world since the last GnR release...
I would alos like to add that I like toilet paper, and use it on a daily basis...I think it just might be one of the greatest inventions EVER.!!!!

is there really a new GnR...? Wouldnt it be better described as Axl's new back up band...? Its probably taking this long because he is such an egotistical prick,that no one wants to work with him.....He by himself did not make GnR...as I recall it was Traci Guns who started that project
and then he was replaced by Slash,they kept the name, and the rest is history.....the whole band made that GnR sound.... not just Axl's voice....they had a sound of their own and I dont think Axl will ever recapture it...no matter who is playing and how many years it takes between releases...
On a side note...I still think L.A.Guns kicked a$$.....and they lasted ALOT longer than GnR

seriously though, people that are expecting chinese democracy to be appetite 2 are out of their minds. axl shredded his vocal chords a long time ago, he cant sing or scream like he used to. the fact that this record has been in the "works" for well over a decade is testament to the fact that axl cant do it all himself. if he had any sense at all during the duration of this, he would have learned how to play guitar, bass, and/drums as well as gotten a degree in music theory. then maybe he could do it all himself. but until then, i'll just laugh as VR rolls around in success and GnR piddles in puddles of piss.

I don't think it's done. He's had a revolving cast of musicians come in and out of the studio, and after playing a little bit none of them want anything to do with it or him. I'll bet you did'nt even know that in the beginning no record labels wanted to sighn GnR at first because of their reputation for drug and alcohol abuse(but you wanna point finger's at weiland)non of the labels that were enterested was willing to deal with the possiblity that one or more of them might O.D.(YES THAT INCLUDES AXL!!!!).I openly admit that inspite of how much I loved the original lineup and loved them even more after Matt joined the band.They were a traine wreck waiting to happen.

The release of the greatest hit's album was not AXL'S idea.It was his record companies idea.They got sick of waiting for CHINESE DEMOCRACY and spending money on Axl's studio time and other expenses and getting no return so they released the greatest hit's album in hopes of recouping some of what was lost.It worked but they did it without any input from Axl.Which prompted him to attempt to contact the other Gunners in hopes of blocking it's release.Obviously it did not work.(the one time he acknowledged the fact that he needed them.)
I could go into how Slash Duff and the other's are sueing Axl for lost revenue do to unpaide royalties and the incident concerning the right's to the name but that would be a little off topic.

L.A.GUNS was not as popular as GnR.No doubt about that but they were still huge.In fact they survived long after GnR fell apart.Something to be saide about longevity.
Like I saide we'll see if Axl can pull it off on his own.(the answer's no.I'm just humeoring you)You do realise that when the record drop's.The first two or three million copies will sell on curiosity.The real test will be down the road & how long it stay's on the chart's.People don't seem to realise that part of the success of GnR boiled down to the fact that they (plural not singular)could right gritty hard edged song's that were raw enough for Metal/Rock fan's but catchy enough to get the attention of Pop/top forty fans.Another big part of their success was timeing.When the rest of the world was getting sick of Poison Warrant & Cinderella.(Ratt was probably the only band that compared to GnR actual talent wise,Similar attitude as well same volatility even,But the music and image was way too polished and glossy like what if Poison's music had ball's)
They came around & basically put the first nail in the coffin of Hair Metal.Then Mettalica dropped the Black Album.This was followed of course by Nirvana & 123 it was over.So timeing had alot to do with it as well.Axl just might be right in this particular respect but like I saide.We'll see soon enough.
