Lukas Wins Rock Star: Supernova, Plus Follow-Up
Last week the members of Supernova, Gilby Clarke, Jason Newsted, and Tommy Lee, chose Canadian Lukas Rossi as the winner of the show and vocalist for their group. While this is not exactly news, here is what people are saying and what has happened since then:
Lukas Rossi checked in with Canada.com after being delared frontman for the band. Asked what his reaction was when he found out, Rossi responded, "Overwhelmed, man, you know. But I wasn't going to walk away from this without being the singer, man. I was pretty determined." Asked if he knew going into it that he was going to emerge the victor, the Toronto native responded, "Well, yes and no. If the band chose somebody besides myself because it would have made the band what they wanted for their vision then I would step back and respect that. But, you know, I'm standing here now and obviously I was the right person for the job." You can read more here. More...
Fear Factory Is A Tighter Unit Without Dino
Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera spoke with Time Off magazine about the band's brief split in 2002, and reforming a few months later without founding member Dino Cazares. "There were personal issues between Dino and the rest of the band which just got worse and worse over time," Herrera confided. "Basically we couldn't go on like we were and something had to give. It was a terrible situation, personally and professionally. I mean, I was friends with Dino since we were 18, and now I haven't spoken to him in three years. Still, in a way, that schism ensured our long-term survival. Fear Factory is now a tighter unit and a more efficient songwriting team."
