Led Zeppelin's "Mothership" Release Date Set

Available November 13, Atlantic Records/Rhino Entertainment will honor Rock & Rock Hall of Famers Led Zeppelin with the release of "Mothership," a 24-track, two-CD comprehensive collection that spans their illustrious career. All eight of the band's classic studio albums are represented here, with the tracks being personally selected by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. Mothership includes landmark songs such as "Whole Lotta Love," "Immigrant Song," "Kashmir," "Rock And Roll," "Dazed And Confused," and "Stairway To Heaven." The set will also include new liner notes by famed rock writer David Fricke.

Originally released in 1976, "The Song Remains The Same" soundtrack album of the concert film features songs from the band's three-night stint at Madison Square Garden in July 1973. On November 20, "The Song Remains The Same" soundtrack gets the deluxe reissue treatment, with the band members overseeing the remixing and remastering of the original release. The new version of the soundtrack includes six songs that were not on the original release -- "Black Dog," "Over The Hills And Far Away," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Since I've Been Loving You," "The Ocean," and "Heartbreaker," plus new liner notes by Academy Award-winning director Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous).

Slated for a simultaneous release, Warner Home Video debuts brand-new DVD editions of "The Song Remains The Same," now for the first time with all 14 songs from the original concert. The DVD features newly remixed and remastered sound, 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound, and boasts more than 40 minutes of added bonus material*, including never-before-released performance footage of "Over The Hills And Far Away" and "Celebration Day"; plus performances of "Misty Mountain Hop" and "The Ocean"; a rare 1976 BBC interview with Robert Plant and Peter Grant; vintage TV footage from the Drake Hotel robbery during the New York concert stand; and a Cameron Crowe radio show.

One of the most eagerly awaited concerts of the decade will celebrate the life and work of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records and much missed mentor to some of the greatest names in music. Profits from this amazing show will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund which provides students with annual scholarships to universities in the UK, USA and Turkey. In addition, a music scholarship open to all will be established at Ravensbourne College in the UK.

Led Zeppelin will headline the tribute to the man who founded Atlantic Records in 1947. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham.

Tracklistings for both upcoming releases follow: More...

Aeternus Part Ways With Drummer

Norwegian "dark metallers" AETERNUS have parted ways with drummer S. Winter (FORLORN, A WINTER WITHIN, GEHENNA) due to the fact that "he lives too far away from [the rest of the group] and it became a too big burden to have that type of slow flow in the band," according to a posting on the AETERNUS MySpace page. "It was a shitty decision to make, but also an important one. He's a great drummer and and truly among very few are so dedicated as he is and it made it hard to take this step. Nevertheless, it was done."

AETERNUS is currently auditioning a new drummer in Bergen.

AETERNUS' latest album, "HeXaeon", was released last year via Karisma Records. The follow-up to 2003's "A Darker Monument" was recorded at Grieghallen Studios in Norway and was once produced by Eirik "Pytten" Hundvin, who has previously worked with ENSLAVED and MÖRK GRYNING, among others.

Imagika Complete Work On New Album

San Francisco power/thrash metallers IMAGIKA have issued the following update:

"IMAGIKA album number 6 is done! The band just got back from Sweden and Sonic Train Studio where we mixed the CD with Andy '180' La Rocque [KING DIAMOND guitarist] (the bastard said he'd only bowled three times in his life!). The CD started a month ago in L.A. at Blue Turtle where we did all the basic tracking. The schedule was tight but we got it completed with one day off before heading to Gothenburg. Of course, since everything went well in L.A. we all got sick, including Andy. Constant shitting, puking, hacking snot and drinking were daily activities so it made for a pleasant stay! Good part is the CD came out sounding great! Is it our heaviest? Our best? That's for those who hear it to decide which should be in spring '08." More...

Vader And Septic Flesh To Tour Europe

Polish death metal veterans VADER have issued the following update:

"VADER is going to celebrate the 25th anniversary not only with a brand new DVD, '...And Blood Was Shed on Warsaw' and a compilation of re-recorded classic songs, 'XXV' (to be unleashed next year), but also with a regular European tour, [consisting of] around 25 gigs. The first confirmed special guest of the tour is a legendary Greek band SEPTIC FLESH! As you might know, the guys reunited some time ago and signed to Season Of Mist. At the moment they are hard at work on the follow-up to 2003's 'Sumerian Daemons' album. More details concerning the tour will be announced soon."

Commented the band: "The story of The Witcher is set to realm of best-selling fantasy saga by the same title, conjured to life by Andrzej Sapkowski — one of the most acclaimed Polish contemporary writers. It is into his unique world of pervasive magic, bitter conflict and occasional dark humor, that you might be immersed... The game is going to be great, based on BioWare engine, produced in famous motion capture technology, [and] will definitely offer a very special interactive entertainment for all role playing game lovers. Worldwide premiere of The Witcher is set for October 26th, 2007!"

VADER's third DVD, "And Blood Was Shed In Warsaw", will be released in October via Metal Mind Productions and will feature footage from the band's February 12, 2007 concert at Stodola Club in Waraw, documenting the final stop of the group's tour in support of their latest album, "Impressions in Blood". The show was filmed with seven cameras and includes a guest appearance by Orion, a member of two other great Polish metal acts: VESANIA and BEHEMOTH.

The DVD is scheduled for release on October 15 in Europe and November 5 in USA (via MVD). It will also include: a fully animated menu, band bio, discography, interview with frontman Peter, the brand new video clip "Sword of the Witcher", desktop images, photo gallery, weblinks, and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. "…And Blood Was Shed In Warsaw" DVD will be also available in a special DVD+CD limited swing case edition! The artwork and layout of the DVD was created by the Brazilian artist Marcelo HVC, who has previously worked with GORGOROTH, LORD BELIAL and NECROPHAGIA.

Dethklok To Open For ...AYWKUBTTOD

DETHKLOK — the stars of the animated Cartoon Network "Adult Swim" program "Metalocalypse" — will open for ...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD on their U.S. tour in the fall. This Adult Swim-backed trek will include free shows at 12 U.S. colleges (open to the public) beginning on October 29, although the tour schedule for has not been announced.

On September 25, Adult Swim will unleash the brand-new CD from DETHKLOK on an unsuspecting public. "Dethalbum" features several full-length songs from Adult Swim's most metal animated series "Metalocalypse" plus all-new tracks.

To coincide with the premiere of the second season of "Metalocalypse" on Adult Swim and release of "Metalocalypse Season 1" on DVD, a regular and a deluxe CD edition of "Dethalbum" will be released. Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, "Metalocalypse" follows the on- and off-stage adventures of DETHKLOK, an incredibly talented and insanely popular Norwegian heavy metal band. DETHKLOK boasts the lineup of vocalist Nathan Explosion (lyrical visionary), Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth (two of the fastest guitarists alive), bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles — the soul of the band. Not really.

"Dethalbum" features a guest appearance by legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DEATH, DARK ANGEL, TESTAMENT). He previously stated about the CD, "What a killer metal record! I can't wait for everyone else to hear it, and since it has now been slated for a September 25th release, that is now gonna be sooner than later, especially with leakage. And yes, it appears that we are going on tour with it as well! The logistics are being worked on as we speak, but it looks like it's gonna be a real killer, multi-media show. I'm looking real forward to that, I've even suspended the booking of a ton of clinics to clear my schedule to be available."

Cradle Of Filth Bassist Checks In

CRADLE OF FILTH bassist Dave Pybus has checked in with this message:

"Hail fiends...

So, here we are, on the eve of the second U.S. tour for 'Thornography'! Just back from Sunday morning rehearsals (no church for us) with a slight headache due to last nights drinking session with keyboardist Rosie. This time it's a little bit different to a straight ahead CRADLE OF FILTH headlining tour. Viva La Bands is obviously Bam Margera's crazy idea, but we like Bam, so we expect only the best in chaos to come. Good mix of bands as well. The addition of VIKING SKULL made me smile as I met them a few years back. It will be fun to meet them again, this time for some serious drinking sessions.

Just wanted to mention something about the tour set list. Got a pretty cool mix of old and new tracks. Like two songs off every Cradle album. The set won't be as long as we'd like it (like two hours, yeah) so we've decided to alternate sets to keep us on our toes. Added the new song 'Foetus...' which is the track we chose for the second video from 'Thornography'. You should be able to see that soon. 'Temptation' has been dropped from the set this time. Added 'Twisted Nail Of Faith', 'Principle Of Evil Made Flesh', 'Tortured Soul Asylum', among others. Going for some pretty cool songs that we've played in the past. It's a hard decision sometimes to get a fair mix but we feel happy with what we went with.

OK, I'd better get on with packing. NFL season started and I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more games on TV than is possible in the UK. Find me in a local bar near the venue on Sundays, crying into my beer as my team (the Redskins) get their asses kicked."

Here are the confirmed dates for the tour:

Sept. 19 - Quebec City, QC - Capitole Theatre
Sept. 20 - Montreal, QC - Metropolis
Sept. 21 - Hartford, CT - Webster Theatre
Sept. 22 - Burlington, VT - Higher Ground
Sept. 24 - Baltimore, MD - Rams Head Live

Chthonic Vocalist Speaks At U.N. Press Conference

This is the speech made by Freddy, Chthonic's vocalist in New York City and Washington, DC on the 12th and 13th September's press conferences.

Freddy Lim, Vocalist of ChthoniC
2007/09/12

"As a musician, I am here to make noise for my fans. As a Taiwanese citizen, I am here to make noise for my countrymen. I have sung across America for more than 2 months for my fans, and now I will take the opportunity here to speak for my fellow Taiwanese.

Taiwan's sparkling talents range from sculptor Ming Chu, to the internationally-acclaimed director Ang Lee, to the internationally renowned Cloud Gate dance troup, to the Sahara-crossing ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin, to Major League Baseball players such as New York Yankees star Chien-ming Wang. Taiwan's creative gifts and energy can not be contained within borders or forced to abide by the restrictions of political deal-making. The 23 million people of Taiwan are living diligently and sensibly, with the wish to freely thrive in this world as equal partners on our shared planet. Like the people mentioned above, we are not politicians, and all we can do is to fight our best in our own career, to use the cultural power to fight against Chinese strong military threats, and -- through the artistic language -- to spread ideals that our countrymen believe about how the international society puts limitations on Taiwan.

During our two-month American tour, most fans and media have supported the message that we carry during this tour. At our concerts, the fans show their anger toward those politicians in United Nations by shouting and even cursing; back home, these fans even put their efforts of supporting Taiwan into their daily life, like a report I've just received from a fan who wrote about Taiwan for her Social Justice Action class project to spread the message to her classmates and friends. For these young people, it's very logical and natural to support Taiwan to join the international society and for Taiwanese to share the same international rights that they have, but the politicians in United Nations seem to think it's more logical and natural to sacrifice Taiwan in their political games."
