Construcdead Finish Recording New Album

Swedish metallers CONSTRUCDEAD have issued the following update:

"We have recorded the whole [new CONSTRUCDEAD] album, yet untitled down in Helsingborg with Peter Wildoer and Klas Ideberg from DARKANE. The idea was to record in their studio, Not Quite Studios, but it was flooded the day before we even sat foot in there. So, we got to record elsewhere, though still with Peter and Klas. We have nailed 13 songs but we are not sure if all of them are gonna end up on the album, we'll see. We had a great time recording this album! Got to hang out with some of the local celebs and friends, Björn Strid and Ola Frenning of SOILWORK, Nick Sword of TERROR 2000. Did we mention we drank a shitload of liqour? And yes, we had a guest appearance. Guess who? So right now we are just waiting to get a first mix from Peter and Klas. We will probably put some samples up on the [band's web site] as soon as the whole thing is done."

Songtitles set to appear on CONSTRUCDEAD's fourth album include "Cataclysm", "Transfixed", "My Haven", "Tragic Kingdom", "A Godess Breaches Through Me", "Spiritual Shift", "The One Beside Me" and "No Exit".

The band previously stated about the new material, "I think that there will be something for everyone on this album. Most of the material though, is very fast, heavy and hard. But we managed to squeeze in a few melodies here and there as well. I can guarantee some serious blasting!!!"

CONSTRUCDEAD earlier in the year parted ways with drummer Erik Thyselius (TERROR 2000) and bassist Viktor Hemgren. No reason was given for their departures.

CONSTRUCDEAD's third album, "The Grand Machinery", was released in September 2005 via Black Lodge Records. The CD was recorded at Fear and Loathing Studio (co-owned by CLAWFINGER and MESHUGGAH) with producer Jocke Skog.

Overkill To Re-Release DVD

Five years after it faded into oblivion, the 2002 OVERKILL double-DVD "Live: Wrecking Everything, an Evening in Asbury Park" will be re-released, according to MTV.com. The first disc features a 21-song concert shot in Asbury Park in March 2002 and the second DVD offers the 60-minute documentary "Batmen, the Return".

OVERKILL will release its new album, "Immortalis", on October 9 via Bodog Music. The group's collaboration with Bodog reunites OVERKILL with Jonny and Marsha Zazula, previous owners of Megaforce Records, the label responsible for putting metal on the map and bringing OVERKILL's New Jersey thrash metal to the world. The Zazulas are now a part of the Bodog Music team in the United States.

"Immortalis" track listing:

01. Devils in the Mist
02. What it Takes
03. Skull and Bones (feat. LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe)
04. Shadow of a Doubt
05. Hellish Pride
06. Walk through Fire
07. Head On
08. Charlie Get Your Gun
09. Hell Is
10. Overkill V

OVERKILL will take part in an in-store signing on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, New Jersey (contrary to a posting on the Vintage Vinyl web site, the appearance will NOT include an in-store performance, according to OVERKILL vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth).

For more information, visit www.vvinyl.com.

Since forming in 1980, OVERKILL has put out over 20 albums. Despite various lineup changes, the band has never gone on hiatus and has continued to stay true to the metal genre it helped create. With Megaforce Records and their management company, CraZed Management, the Zazulas were responsible for the early careers of such bands as METALLICA, ANTHRAX and MINISTRY, among many others.

The upcoming album and corresponding East Coast tour will feature OVERKILL's latest lineup, which along with Ellsworth, includes original bassist D.D. Verni, guitarists Derek "The Skull" Tailer and Dave Linsk, as well as the newest member to join the band, drummer Ron Lipnicki.

OVERKILL released three albums on Megaforce Records before making the jump to Atlantic Records where a string of critically lauded albums, including 1991's quintessential "Horroscope", solidified OVERKILL as one of the best metal bands of all time. In the past few years, the band has released such gems as "Killbox 13" (2003) and "ReliXIV" (2005).

Obsidian Bassist Departs

Bassist Glen Loupias has left Dutch metallers OBSIDIAN. His statement follows:

"Being in Obsidian for almost seven years now means it has become part of my life. That's why the decision of leaving the band has been a very difficult one. Being part of the band has given me more than just the ability to play great music, it has given me four great friends for which I am very grateful.

Unfortunately, during the past 6 months I have realized that playing music has taken a less important place in my life. This is mainly caused by the urge to enrich my life in other areas as well (setting up a business, traveling). Because I truly believe Obsidian is at the beginning of experiencing some great new things, it would not be fair to the band to have doubts about the future. Therefore I believe Obsidian would be a more stable band with a truly dedicated bass player who will give it his all. Though the idea of not being part of something that is so dear to me truly hurts, I think it's the best decision for the band as a whole.

I will not leave the band until a proper bassist has presented him/herself. Therefore Obsidian will continue to perform and make music. Until then I will enjoy the experience to the fullest. Kind regards and thanks for all the great moments."

In response to George's decision, the band had this to say:

"Although it really saddens us that he felt he had to take this decision, we fully support him, as (almost) ex-bandmates and as friends. We wish him the best and most of luck with everything he is going to do and we will miss him a lot! Glen is a great guy (literally) and a great bass player and it will proof a hard job to find a suitable replacement."

Tommy Lee Issues Statement

Drummer TOMMY LEE has issued the following statement in response to recent reports that he has quit MÖTLEY CRÜE:

"I am a founding member of Mötley Crüe. Based on internal band issues aired publicly, my future with the band is uncertain. I have tried to meet with my band-mates repeatedly without success but have informed them that I'm not walking away from my band of 25 years. It troubles me that the current legal issues which were filed by the corporations against my personal manager are separating us and causing more dysfunction. I hope we can work this out amongst ourselves."
