Indy Metal Fest Sponsor Shakes Out, Fest To Go On

Just days before this high-voltage metal event takes off, one of the sponsors of the Indy Metal Fest backed out of the deal. Indie label Chavis Records (home to Sonic X and Quiet Riot), who has offered a hand in sponsoring the event since April, has failed to mandatory fees and has left presenting sponsor Blind Prophecy Records to pick up their bill. Now that Chavis has been knocked off the event, the stage at Birdie's Live will no longer be called the Chavis Records Stage, but will rather take on Blind Prophecy's name instead.

The event, powered by Blind Prophecy Records, is slated to cram two venues with over a dozen prime metal acts, including Obituary, Alabama Thunderpussy, Daath, and Blind Prophecy's very own Years of Fire and Pain Principle.

On Saturday, September 22, Indianapolis Metal Fest will blast off in the KOC Grand Ballroom (all ages) and across the street at Birdie's Live (21 and up). Official band time slots will be posted in the coming weeks at indianapolismetalfest.com. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day-of-show.

Danzig Rejoined By Guitarist Todd Youth For Tour

Glenn Danzig will hit the road beginning in late October for a handful of live concert dates on both the East and West coasts. Joining Glenn on these dates will be bassist Steve Zing (SAMHAIN) and guitarist Todd Youth (DANZIG, MURPHY'S LAW); former MISFITS axe man Doyle Von Frankenstein and his new band GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN, will support on all dates.

Glenn and Doyle have been in the studio recording Doyle's first solo album, "Gorgeous Frankenstein", which Danzig produced and will release on October 16 on his label, Evilive. According to Glenn, he and Doyle recorded "eight blood-curdling tracks" that include "Man or Monster", "Devilgirl", "Reverse of God", and "Made In Hell". The two played all instruments on the album.

These DANZIG dates are also in support of "The Lost Tracks of Danzig", the two-CD set that was released May 29, as well as Glenn's limited-edition book "Drukija, Contessa of Blood", loosely based on the legend of 17th century vampire Countess Elizabeth Bathory, and illustrated by long time collaborator Simon Bisley. "The Lost Tracks" is comprised of 26 previously unreleased tracks that span Danzig's entire career and were originally recorded during the band's seven-album "arc" that began with 1988's "Danzig".

What follows are the confirmed DANZIG East and West Coast dates. Other than these shows, DANZIG has no plans to do any touring in the foreseeable future.

Testament Guitarist Places Amp Online For Auction

TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick is auctioning the amp that he used during the recording sessions for the band's "First Strike Still Deadly" album.

Commented Alex: "[This is the] Rivera combo amp which I used to record both ATTENTION DEFICIT albums (with Tim Alexander and Michael Manring), my SKOL PATROL demo (my first recorded attempt at jazz/improv) and the first step of my working with TESTAMENT again, the album 'First Strike Still Deadly'. Every track on every one of these albums was recorded on this amp. It's one of the best-sounding I've ever heard. I'm getting rid of it mainly because it's heavy and living in New York City, I need a more portable amp. But if travel is not an issue and you want an amp for home or studio, I'd honestly say you can't do much better."

For more information and to place a bid, visit the eBay auction page at this location. The auction ends on Monday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. PST.

Forget all those rock posers, who have nothing new to say, passing themselves off as the real thing. When it comes to real rock'n'roll these three guys have lived it, breathed it, bled it and have set the lifestyle example that all you rebels, rockers and outcasts should strive to follow!"

Metallica To Record School Benefit Shows

METALLICA have issued the following update:

"We’re still stuck in the studio, but when we were invited to participate in the 21st Annual Bridge School shows, we just couldn’t say "no". We're going to record both nights (October 27th and 28th at Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View, CA) and have them here (www.livemetallica.com) for you shortly after. It’s an acoustic show that NEIL YOUNG puts together each year in the Bay Area, and this is the second time for us. And all proceeds from the sale of downloads from these two shows will go to the Bridge School.
