Wildildlife Signs To Crucial Blast Records

San Francisco's Wildildlife has officially joined the Crucial Blast Records roster. The band's debut full-length, "Six," will hit stores on November 20th. Here's some background via Crucial Blast's Adam Wright:

"A couple months ago I received an email from Robotic Empire boss Andy Low commanding me to check out a couple of songs that a band from San Francisco called Wildildlife had posted online, immediately. I knew that the dude has a solid idea of what kind of sounds I'm into, so I pulled up the link immediately and was totally blown away by the two Wildildlife songs that I heard. Heavy, crunchy riffage rolling over celestial FX freakout and gang choral voices, part pop, part neo-psychedelic noisiness, part metalloid skullcrush. Super melodic and catchy but vaguely menacing and dark all at the same time. The band toured through here about a month later, and I was even more floored by their manic live energy; the band summoned up a wicked whirlpool of dense distorto crunch and freaky singing, aging metallic percussive pummel, ribal rhythms and crushing effects-soaked guitars, subdued floatational drones and ecstatically gorgeous melodies, all let loose in a blast of psychedelic slowcore and swirling, cosmic sludge. Going back to a review that Terrascope Magazine wrote about one of the band's earlier CD-R releases, this sounds vaguely like Black Sabbath and Butthole Surfers jamming together with ancient forest mystics, an experience both brutal and beautiful, and which proves that Wildildlife have already established themselves as serious purveyors of blown-out psych heaviness. These guys have become one of my favorite new bands, and I'm mega-excited to be presenting their first full-length through Crucial Blast."

Slayer Guitarist To Be At Music Live

Marshall Amplification has secured the appearance of Kerry King from SLAYER during the Music Live event, which is being held November 2-4, 2007 at the NEC in Birmingham, England. King will be on the Marshall stand every day of the show to sign autographs.

For more information, visit www.musiclive.co.uk.

Kerry King recently spoke to Hails & Horns magazine about the status of his KFK Industries clothing line which he launched in 2003.

"It's been down for almost a year," Kerry said. "I've moved twice in, like, 15 months so I'm getting all settled in my new place. I'm getting as much SLAYER touring out of the way, then I'm going to relaunch it with a new name and new product. It's still KFK [which stands for 'Kerry Fucking King' — Ed.], but it's going to be "Ministries" instead of "Industries." There are companies where I live called "Industries," but I'm, like, "Nobody has 'Ministries,' so we went with that one. When we re-launch, it will be KFKIndustries.com. We already got a domain name and all that. It's just waiting for me to have time to relaunch it correctly."

Regarding what he will be selling through the new company, Kerry said, "We got a lot of cool t-shirt designs, stickers and got a cool skullcap made. Hopefully I'll have the first 50 armbands I've been making. I've got some work cut out for me."

Alove For Enemies Breaks Up

Long Island hardcore/metal outfit Alove For Enemies has called it quits after nearly eight years together and several releases with Facedown Records. The group has issued the following statement:

"Alove For Enemies has been around since late 2000. During that time we have had our ups and downs, our highs and lows, our victories and our defeats. We have decided it is our time to step down. Alove For Enemies, means so much to each of us, we are at a point in our personal lives, where we can not continue with ALFE and have it been the same thing it is now. Rather than force it, and possibly have it crumble, we are laying it to rest. This is something we all agreed on as friends, brothers, and band mates. We are each saddened by this reality, but agree it is a necessary one. Over the last seven years, we have gone through many things, from lineup changes, to tour horror stories, and non stop adversity. Remaining a strong ministry has always been integral to what ALFE is; We can no longer uphold that to the level it needs to be.

"We all have very fond memories; we've made some great friends that will stay with us always. We have been blessed with the opportunity to travel across the US, go to Europe and play to all kinds of different people. God gave us a wonderful gift with ALFE, and for that we are eternally grateful. We are also grateful to our fans, who have kept us going this whole time, their passion and intensity, their kindness, and their support has been priceless. We want to thank all the bands who have helped us out, all the people who let us crash in their houses, the countless numbers who have helped book shows, get us merch, etc ; of course we want to thank Jason and Facedown for all they have done. We will be playing a few more shows, including Facedown Fest East.

"Some of us are doing other projects moving forward, Luke and Dan are in a band called 'Buck Nasty', Erich is doing a project called 'Behind the Glittering Mask', our good friend and current drummer, Andy is in a band called 'Letter to Exiles.'"

Led Zeppelin To Play November 26th?

According to MetalSucks, LED ZEPPELIN has a hold for a possible reunion show on November 26 at the O2 Arena in London. For those who aren't familiar with the way booking works, an artist's agent will generally place a "hold" on a venue when considering doing a show there; this prevents the venue from booking any other artists on that date, but the venue does not yet have to pay a deposit (typically 50 percent) to the artist because no formal offer has been made and the show is not officially confirmed. So while this latest bit of news certainly doesn't confirm that the show is happening, it absolutely lends credibility to the notion that this show is being seriously discussed. There is no word on whether any other venues in London are being held by LED ZEPPELIN on that date.

LED ZEPPELIN reformed for Live Aid in 1985 but its members were apparently so disgusted with their own performance — guitarist Jimmy Page famously blaming stand-in drummer Phil Collins — that they refused to allow it to be included in the concert DVD.

Page and singer Robert Plant have played together occasionally since then.

Overkill Announce Tracklisting For New Album

Legendary New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL will release their new album, "Immortalis", on October 9 via Bodog Music. The group's collaboration with Bodog reunites OVERKILL with Jonny and Marsha Zazula, previous owners of Megaforce Records, the label responsible for putting metal on the map and bringing OVERKILL's New Jersey thrash metal to the world. The Zazulas are now a part of the Bodog Music team in the United States.

"Immortalis" track listing:

01. Devils in the Mist
02. What it Takes
03. Skull and Bones (feat. LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe)
04. Shadow of a Doubt
05. Hellish Pride
06. Walk through Fire
07. Head On
08. Charlie Get Your Gun
09. Hell Is
10. Overkill V

OVERKILL will take part in an in-store signing on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, New Jersey (contrary to a posting on the Vintage Vinyl web site, the appearance will NOT include an in-store performance, according to OVERKILL vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth).

For more information, visit www.vvinyl.com.

Since forming in 1980, OVERKILL has put out over 20 albums. Despite various lineup changes, the band has never gone on hiatus and has continued to stay true to the metal genre it helped create. With Megaforce Records and their management company, CraZed Management, the Zazulas were responsible for the early careers of such bands as METALLICA, ANTHRAX and MINISTRY, among many others.

The upcoming album and corresponding East Coast tour will feature OVERKILL's latest lineup, which along with Ellsworth, includes original bassist D.D. Verni, guitarists Derek "The Skull" Tailer and Dave Linsk, as well as the newest member to join the band, drummer Ron Lipnicki.

OVERKILL released three albums on Megaforce Records before making the jump to Atlantic Records where a string of critically lauded albums, including 1991's quintessential "Horroscope", solidified OVERKILL as one of the best metal bands of all time. In the past few years, the band has released such gems as "Killbox 13" (2003) and "ReliXIV" (2005).

First Concert Video Of Cavalera Conspiracy Posted

THE CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the reunion of brothers Max and Igor Cavalera (both former SEPULTURA members), made its official live debut at the 11th annual D-Low Memorial concert this past Friday (August 31) at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. The band performed a total of five songs, including concert opener "Inflikted", fan-filmed video footage of which can be viewed below.

The D-Low show is held every year in memory of SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera's stepson Dana "D-Low" Wells who was killed in a 1996 car wreck (article). It is SOULFLY's biggest show of the year and draws fans from all over the United States. In 2004, SOULFLY filmed portions of its "The Song Remains Insane" DVD at the event.

THE CAVALERA CONSPIRACY is currently putting the finishing touches on its debut album in Los Angeles with producers Dirty Icon (Logan Mader [ex-MACHINE HEAD, SOULFLY] and Lucas Banker). An early 2008 release via Roadrunner Records is expected. More...

Voivod To Play 13 "Piggy Songs" This Fall

VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin spoke to Chad Bowar from About.com: Heavy Metal recently about a number of topics, including the band's upcoming album that will feature from late guitarist Denis "Piggy" D’Amour. A few excerpts follow:

Chad Bowar: What’s the latest with Voivod? Have you began putting together an album with the rest of Piggy’s songs?
Michel "Away" Langevin: "Yes, we have 13 songs left that we will be recording in the fall. We are waiting for Jason’s (Newsted) injury to heal 100 percent. He injured his shoulder and had to have surgery. So in the fall we’re going to be recording the final stuff. It’s still out of the sessions we did in 2004, so it’s pretty reminiscent of Katorz. In the meantime I’m very busy reissuing the Noise catalog that is now on Century: Rrröööaaarrr, Killing Technology and Dimension Hatröss. They are going to be remastered and re-released with a bonus DVD of the Voivod archives from the ‘80s. We had the Iron Gang back then, a mail order where we would sell cassettes and stuff like that. Quite often people sent me VHS tapes and cassettes of shows we played and photos. . For Rrröööaaarrr I found the first show in the U.S. with Venom in 1985 on VHS and also a very early show in January 1984 in Quebec and also a high school show in ’84. I just wrapped it up and I’m working on Killing Technology and Dimension Hatröss. Later on next year we’re going to work on Nothingface, Angel Rat and The Outer Limits."

Chad Bowar: Will we see Voivod on tour again?
Michel "Away" Langevin: "Once we are done with the next album in early 2008 we hope to do some kind of farewell tour to pay tribute to Piggy’s music. Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA) already agreed to help us if we need to play Katorz and the next album live. That’s something we’ve been hoping to achieve. There’s nothing confirmed, but we hope to do some sort of tribute to Piggy live eventually."

Maiden Singers Film Finishes Principal Photography

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson has written a supernatural horror-thriller inspired by noted occultist Aleister Crowley. Chemical Wedding stars Simon Callow as a reincarnation of Crowley, once dubbed "the most evil man in Britain." Callow's character, Haddo, is a shy, stuttering professor.

The film, which wrapped principal photography Tuesday with Julian Doyle at the helm, will be released in Britain and Ireland by Warner Bros. The studio also has a first-look option on other territories.

Dickinson is not the first rocker to be inspired by Crowley, who died in 1947. LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page was a big collector of Crowley's writings and even bought his Scottish estate. OZZY OSBOURNE, meanwhile, eulogized him in the song 'Mr. Crowley'.

Album Or Movie Next For Rob Zombie?

The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: With his remake of "Halloween" opening on August 31 (and breaking records) both a tour and live album slated for this fall, filmmaker and musician Rob Zombie has a full schedule for the rest of the year. So what comes after that? Zombie has been alternating between records and movies for the last several years, but told The Pulse of Radio he's not really sure what he'll tackle next. "I don't really have any album ideas, I mean those...well, actually we have a little bit," he said. "You know, we were writing some songs on the road for the first time ever so they're kind of floating around. You know, this is the first album I hope that the whole band can be there and really write together. That's exciting 'cause that could be really different, that could bring a whole different vibe to it. And as far as the next movie, you know, I have some ideas I'm working on, but I'm not ready for the next one just yet."

Dimension Films, which is releasing "Halloween", has just signed Zombie to a two-picture deal. According to Variety, Zombie will write and direct both films. There are no further details about the projects or whether they'll be horror outings like Zombie's three movies to-date.

Zombie also told MTV.com's movie blog that his animated flick, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto", is finally finished. He described the film as a "superhero monster sex comedy" and a "filthy adult movie," adding, "People are just not going to believe this movie exists. It is so strange."

Zombie's first-ever concert album, simply titled "Zombie Live", is scheduled for release on October 23. He'll support OZZY OSBOURNE on a fall tour that will begin sometime in October and last through December.

More Van Halen Tour Dates Trickle In

With several shows on its upcoming tour already sold-out, Van Halen has added a couple of dates and tweaked its schedule a bit.

The rock gods, who have reunited with original frontman David Lee Roth after 22 years, will kick off their North American outing Sept. 27 in Charlotte, NC. Since last check, they've slotted in shows Oct. 5 in Uncasville, CT, and Nov. 29 in Fresno, CA, and made their finale a Dec. 16 gig in San Jose, CA. Details are listed below.

Since tickets went on sale earlier this month, Van Halen has sold out shows in Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia; Boston; Washington, DC; and two each in Toronto, the Chicago area and the Detroit area, according to information from tour promoter Live Nation and Van Halen's website. The Uncasville concert went on sale August 31 and on-sale dates for shows in November and December have yet to be announced.

Fans who have the Citi/AAdvantage credit card will be offered access to preferred seats and those willing to pay for the "ultimate Van Halen experience"--with pre-show parties, backstage access, premium seating, etc. (though no guaranteed face time with the band)--can find details at the I Love All Access website.

Though Roth is back in the band, Van Halen will not be returning to the road with its original lineup. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang, will take the place of original bassist Michael Anthony, who's been playing regularly with former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar. In fact, Hagar and Anthony are heading out in October for a 60-date run that will feature a set of Van Halen material.

Van Halen is on the short list of artists who have scored two Diamond Awards, signifying album sales of 10 million or more, according to a press release. The recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers earned the honor with their 1978 self-titled debut and again with "1984."

Here are the latest Van Halen reunion tour dates: More...

Celtic Frost Mainman Warns Of Fake Hellhammer Page

CELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer has issued the following update:

"It has been brought to our attention that there have been private messages and bulletins posted by a Hellhammer MySpace page, namely http://www.myspace.com/hellhammeronlydeath. We would like to draw attention to the fact that the above page is not an official Hellhammer page and not in any way affiliated with the official Hellhammer page or the former members of the band Hellhammer. It is a "fan" page (as stated therein).

The bulletins and messages posted by the above Hellhammer MySpace page frequently utilize a tone and language not compatible with the demeanor of Hellhammer and the band's heritage. We distance ourselves explicitly from such bulletins and messages.

Please note that the only official Hellhammer MySpace presence is www.myspace.com/hellhammerband .

This page is run by the webmasters of the official Celtic Frost website and by the former members of Hellhammer. It is the sole source for accurate information on Hellhammer as it draws directly from the band's extensive archive. It is also the sole and exclusive MySpace source for information on both the forthcoming comprehensive Hellhammer book and the forthcoming official Hellhammer demo releases on CD and vinyl (both to be released in 2008)."

The Create SetList option supports the compilation of individual set lists and the arrangement of the concert according to the viewer's preferences. The Snapshot feature makes it possible to “shoot” photos while replaying the concert, enhancing the disc with a personal picture gallery. The HD DVD also includes the bonus material from the Stage Fright double DVD.

Next to top-quality high-definition audio-visual features, the HD DVD will come with numerous interactive features such as picture-in-picture video commentaries and the option of compiling individual photo galleries or set lists. Involving the whole Motörhead fan community, the HD DVD will be updated regularly with dynamic online contents to supply HD DVD users with exclusive specials.

Recorded during a show at the Phillipshalle in Düsseldorf on December 7, 2004, the set features 20 songs from the entire Motörhead history, including 'Overkill', 'Ace Of Spades' and 'Iron Fist'. As a special bonus, there is an interactive DVD check with Motörhead, with the three musicians contributing lots of interesting comments about the DVD.

Want Something More?

How about a brand new live Motörhead CD. Better Motörhead Than Dead - Live At Hammersmith, scheduled for release from SPV on September 11, 2007, rekindles memories of a momentous night that even a cosmopolitan city like London doesn't see every day. Early June 2005 saw the long queue in front of the venerable Hammersmith Odeon, a venue of many legendary live shows - stretch right to the tube station on the other side of the road. What was going on? Motörhead had invited their fans to their 30th anniversary party, and over 5,000 of them accepted. Their number would have been even greater had the powers that be in the British capital not rigorously limited the capacity of the illustrious venue. Loved by their fans, respected by the press due to the personal integrity of the three band members, Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, Motörhead is considered legendary, one of the world's best and most influential rock bands

The track listing consists of 23 songs, a kind of 'best of Motörhead' featuring, among others, classics such as 'Bomber', 'Ace Of Spades', 'Overkil'l, 'Sacrifice' and 'Iron Fist'. Then there are some more recent tracks from their 2005 release, Inferno, and a number of surprises: June 2005 saw Motörhead delve deeply into vaults that their fans had assumed to be permanently locked up. “This one is from an album that you hated,” Lemmy announced to his dumbfounded audience, reviving Another Perfect Day with 'Dancing On Your Grave' and 'I Got Mine'. A truly remarkable night.
