Adler Holding Out Hope For GNR Reunion
Billbaord.com reports: With the big "Appetite For Destruction" 20th anniversary show behind him, original Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler is looking forward to taking his Adler's Appetite band worldwide. But he's also holding out hope for a blowout reunion bash with his former bandmates.
"I believe I made it this far for some reason," Adler tells Billboard.com. "I want to finish what we started, and ... with the love and support I got from those guys, I think we can (reunite). I'm gonna leave it up to Axl [Rose]. That's gonna be Axl's call, and I love Axl and I know he'll make the right call."
At Saturday's (July 28th) show at West Hollywood's Key Club, Adler and company were joined by Gunners Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan, while guitarist Slash watched a few songs before leaving for a prior commitment. The group is next headed to South America for a series of shows in Argentina, Peru and Chile before returning home to play the Vegas Rocks magazine party on Aug. 11 in Las Vegas. More dates in South America and Europe are in the offing.
"We're gonna be busy working until pretty much Christmas, which I'm excited about," he says. "I love playing live, especially for people who love the music and appreciate it and show nothing but love to me and respect. I love it, and I give it all back."
Adler started Appetite about six years ago, but it's become a more serious concern during the past year, since he got sober and put together a lineup that includes Enuff Z'Nuff bassist Chip Z'Nuff, guitarists Michael Thomas from Faster Pussycat and Kristy "Krash" Majors frrom Pretty Boy Floyd, and singer Colby Veil from the GNR tribute band Hollywood Roses. "There's only one Axl," Z'nuff notes, "but (Veil) comes close, and all the Guns N' Roses guys love him."
The Key Club show was filmed and recorded for a possible release, and the Adler's Appetite members are also writing songs with plans to record and release an album in 2008. "I think we can make a great record," says Z'Nuff, adding that all of Adler's GNR bandmates have expressed interest in playing on it. "It takes a little while to make a great record and to get all them great players to come down and play."
Singer Anneke's Last Show With The Gathering Video
As previously reported, The Gathering vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen chose to leave the band to persue other paths in her musical career. A devoted fan has posted her last performance, filmed earlier today at Finland's Ankkarock Festival. Anneke's flawless vocal will sure to leave an impression on fans of the genre. Her parting words have been provided in a separate clip below.
"Eléanor" LIVE in Finland Aug 8 2007
Goodbye speech:
Age Of Ruin Goes On Hiatus
Washington, DC metal/hardcore band Age Of Ruin will be going on hiatus this month. The group, who has previously released material with Tribunal Records and Eulogy Recordings, has been in the process of recording a new album. Here's a statement from the band:
"Unfortunately for the Lambgoaters, we don't yet have the pretentious and long-winded farewell-letter-to-the-real-fans that seem to have recently become the standard for banal metalcore band break-ups. At the end of this summer, our bass player is moving abroad for graduate study at the American University in Cairo. We are going to take a break for the rest of the year in order to find a suitable replacement as well as wrap up this record we have been working on these past months. The record is scheduled to be released on a to-be-announced label in early-2008, followed by a substantial touring schedule. In the meantime, we are playing a final show on August 18th at the Sterling Community Center in Virginia. Also, any bassists interested in trying out should send an email here."

As I Lay Dying Vocalist Explains Bassist Shuffle
AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis has posted this message on the band's official website:
"Since we just put a new song up with Josh Gilbert's vocals on the chorus, I thought I would explain the story of why Clint (Norris) is gone and where Josh Gilbert came from...
Clint wanted to pursue a lifelong career that he could be passionate about since he could not picture himself being in the band forever once he got married. His wedding was in March and he's now able to stay home with his wife. For those of you who are just finding out now, we've been playing without him since November 2006 when we started writing for 'An Ocean Between Us'.
It is important for our fans to know that this has not changed the band in any way and has ultimately put both AS I LAY DYING and Clint in a better place. Our first recordings, 'Frail Words Collapse', and 'Shadows Are Security' were all written and recorded without Clint, so the new CD isn't any different in that respect. Although Clint was in the band during 'Shadows Are Security' and we will always be thankful for his great live energy, he was not involved in the songwriting process. Therefore, he had a hard time learning the songs in short amount of time we had while recording. Phil ended up playing bass, and our friend Dave Arthur (who is in an amazing band called KINGS TO YOU) did a guest vocal appearance on all of the clean singing. Dave is credited on the record along with other great guest vocalists like Dan Weyandt from ZAO.
The four of us (Phil, Jordan, Nick and I) started writing 'An Ocean Between Us' in late 2006. At the same time, we were looking for a new bass player. We weren't able to find Josh Gilbert until after we had finished writing, but he was able to make it to San Diego in time to record both bass and clean vocals on the new record. It feels good to know that the person recording bass and clean singing on our new record will be same person playing those songs live. Our guitar players have always played bass on every record... until now!
That's the story. You can read on if you want to hear more about the tryout process...
Josh's old band was called THIS ENDEARING and previously GATE CITY. Their manager was a good friend of mine and he'd sent me the demo to see if I was interested in signing the band to my label. I told him that they band seemed pretty talented but I wanted to sit on it and hear more songs whenever they recorded again. About a month later, I got a call because THIS ENDEARING had broken up. I told their manager that I really liked the voice of the guitar player who also did the clean singing, so I asked if I could give him a call about trying out for AS I LAY DYING.
Before Josh was able to make it to San Diego, we tried out about 10 other guys and we had even talked about having our old friend Dave Arthur play with us. Once Josh finally got to San Diego, he really stood out, so we asked him if he could be ready in a week to come out with us on tour. It was that tour that solidified the fact that Josh was the right guy for us. When we returned, Josh packed his things and moved out San Diego just in time to record 'An Ocean Between Us'.
See you all soon on tour! By the way, our new video for 'Nothing Left' might air on TV as early as the 11th. Look out for new songs. The new record is very diverse."

Atargatis Reveal 'Nova' Artwork
German dark/symphonic gothic metal band ATARGATIS has revealed the cover artwork of its upcoming album, "Nova", which will be released on October 26 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded and produced at the Helion Studios (DARKSEED, EQUILIBRIUM) in Munich, Germany. The complete layout and design was created by Katja Piolka (PRIMAL FEAR, RAGE, LEAVES' EYES, DESTRUCTION). In addition to the cover design, the band worked with Katja Piolka on their newest promo pictures.
"Nova" contains ten songs, including a cover of ARMY OF LOVERS' "Crucified". The album includes a guest appearance by Matthias Hechler (Matze) from the German gothic metal heroes CREMATORY. The CD will also be available in digipack format (including two exclusive bonus tracks).
Temple of Brutality Cancel Tour Dates
TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY, the new band featuring former MEGADETH/current F5 bassist David Ellefson, ex-W.A.S.P. drummer Stet Howland, guitarist Peter Scheithauer (BELLADONNA, KILLING MACHINE) and vocalist Todd Barnes (13-A), has issued the following update:
"Due to unforseen circumstances TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY will not be able to perform at their previously scheduled shows in August. The band express their sincerest apologies to any fans who may have hoped to see them at any of these upcoming shows. Anyone who may have purchased tickets for those performances should request a refund from the venues or ticket offices where they were purchased."
TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY was forced to reschedule its North American tour in the spring after the group's agent landed "in the hospital and [was] unable to complete his duties in securing signed contracts, deposits, and proper advancement." More...
Cellador Post "In My Hands" Demo Online
Nebraska-based power metallers CELLADOR have posted the third (and one of the last) clip of a demo song on their MySpace page. This time, the chosen track is called "In My Hands" and features only the solo section. "In My Hands" is expected to appear on the band's next album, which will be recorded between November and December in Tampa, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (MORBID ANGEL, HATE ETERNAL) and mixed by Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DEVILDRIVER, BURY YOUR DEAD).
Guitarist Bill Hudson says: "We're finally realizing what we heard from our idols since forever: That fans always get weirded out by the slightest change. Because of that, we decided to upload the solo section of one of the fastest tracks will have in this album. This is the CELLADOR you're all used to, only a step higher, at least in our opinion. So far, we have shown 'Follow Me', which is basically a straight-up power metal song, 'King of Your Illusion', which is our first midtempo ever and now 'In My Hands', to show you all that we're still the same band! This track is fast, it has shredding, it will blow your minds! Again, it'll be online for a limited period of time, and it will be the last track for a while! We might upload one more before we go to the studio in November, but that will take some time."
CELLADOR's "Enter Deception" album was released in June 2006 via Metal Blade. The CD was recorded at Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida with producer Erik Rutan.
Death Angel Guitarist Completes Solo Album
DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany has issued the following update:
"Just finished an awesome mastering session with Ken Lee at his studio in Oakland. He is a master masterer for damn sure! The disc sounds great! Scheduled for release on September 4, 2007. I'll keep ya posted as the date draws near. For now, let me interest you with this...
"The full-length CD includes 10 songs and will be initially released as a limited-edition digipack for the first 1,000 units. The record features my bros Andy Galeon on drums and Gus Pepa on guitar. Just us vibing out and getting deep. Here is the track listing:
01. Heal In Time
02. Bittersweet
03. Lines On The Road
04. This Life
05. Slip Away
06. Winter Welcome
07. Stuck On a Stepping Stone
08. Comet
09. Won't Stop
10. Naturally
"I posted five of them for your listening pleasure but something is screwed up and they are not loading correctly as of now. Hopefully by the time you read this they are up and running and making their way into your lives.
"By the way, DEATH ANGEL is in the thick of pre production for our upcoming record and we will be in the studio laying down tracks very soon!"
Rob Cavestany will perform at a private-invitation-only party for STUF-TV cable show "Robb's MetalWorks" on Sunday, August 26 at the Cabo Grille in San Antonio. Rob will play material from his upcoming solo disc and will be joined on second guitar by DEATH ANGEL's Ted Aguilar. Rob's performance at the party, coupled with an interview, will be taped for a future episode of "Robb's MetalWorks". This promises to be a special event as attendees (limited to 76) will receive commemorative shirts, koozies and giveaways throughout the night. Support will come from Paloma recording artists and San Antonio break-outs MAN OF SORROWS.
DEATH ANGEL's latest CD, "The Art of Dying", was released in May 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The group's first studio album since 1990's "Act III" was recorded at SF Soundworks studios in San Francisco, California with producer Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD).
Corey Taylor Will Not Sing On New Anthrax Album
ANTHRAX has abandoned plans to utilize the services of SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor on its next album due to scheduling conflicts with Taylor's other projects. ANTHRAX is said to be currently looking for a new singer to join the fold, although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the band or its management.
ANTHRAX split with singer Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after reuniting with him and other members of the band's "classic" lineup of the '80s and early '90s. Vocalist John Bush had been a member of the band before that, from 1992 to 2005.
Taylor confirmed that he was working with ANTHRAX on material for their next studio album in a June 2007 interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine. Asked if he would become the group's vocalist, Taylor said, "It's been bandied about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about...It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands."
Taylor said in June that he and ANTHRAX were "taking baby steps," but that he had written lyrics for eight or nine songs. He also admitted that while he was interested in singing for ANTHRAX, "I'm in two huge bands right now. So it's like I barely get enough time to sleep, let alone do another band."
Taylor is currently on the road with STONE SOUR and is scheduled to regroup with SLIPKNOT later in the year. It is also unlikely that Taylor would be able to record with ANTHRAX since he is signed to Roadrunner Records (ANTHRAX is believed to still have a European record deal with Nuclear Blast).
Ill Nino Complete New Album
ILL NINO has issued the following update:
"Just wanted to let everyone know what's going with our new album 'Enigma'. The record is finally done and we couldn't be happier. All of us feel that 'Enigma' is by far our best effort to date; it fuckin' rules.
"After five months of working on 'Enigma', three weeks in the U.K. co-headline tour with DROWNING POOL, and a six-week, 14-country, European festival tour, covering Download, Lorca Rock, Fields of Rock, Nova Rock, Greenfield, Metaltown, With Full Force, Vina Rock, and the Coca Cola Festival, we've decided to take eight weeks off to be with family, and friends. But don't worry — ILL NINO will be back on the road early September in full support of 'Enigma'. We cannot wait to play these songs for everyone live!! Also the first video for 'The Alibi of Tyrants' will be around mid-August."
"Enigma" (Cement Shoes Records) has reportedly had its release date pushed back to September 25 from the previously announced July 17. A track from the CD, entitled "Alibi of Tyrants", is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.
ILL NINO's last release was the "The Undercover Sessions" EP, which came out in November through Cement Shoes. The CD was comprised of three of ILL NINO's favorite cover songs from bands they loved growing up as fans, and two brand new songs — all overseen by legendary producer Andy Johns (LED ZEPPELIN, VAN HALEN, OZZY OSBOURNE), Dave Chavarri and Eddie Wohl (ANTHRAX, 36 CRAZYFISTS, MACHINE HEAD). The EP was the band's first release through Cement Shoes following their split with the Roadrunner label.
D.E.P. Guitarist Explains Leave Of Absence
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN guitarist Brian Benoit has posted a lengthy statement on the band's MySpace page explaining the circumstances that have forced him to take a leave of absence from the group. An excerpt from his statement follows:
"April 28, 2005… Memphis, Tennessee... the Hi Tone. This is the show that will go down in infamy as far as my future with the band, my ability as a guitarist, and the use of my left hand in day-to-day life for years to come...maybe forever. Everything was a-okay through the halfway point of the set...full throttle, balls to the wall, all systems go. A song or two later however, my neck was giving me a sensation like no other I had ever experienced with all the sore neck issues that come with the trade. I didn't find out until we came home a couple of weeks later (missing all but two of the the shows on the rest of the tour) that I had ruptured a disc in my lower neck, and this was only the tip of the iceberg.
"We were only about a week into the U.S. tour that included the show above, and as always a good number of the band/crew were sick with the typical 'colds' from traveling to different climates and working on little rest. Like clockwork, my cold progressed to bronchitis, which eventually led to pneumonia, and again I didn't realize the severity until we finally came home from the tour.
"Well, let this be a lesson to everyone reading this (especially guys in the 30ish range). Since I took so long to finally get treated, my immune system went berserk trying to beat the pneumonia on its own without the help of antibiotics, and it actually started to attack the good stuff as well, in my case my nervous system. This is actually a rare condition, but when it occurs, it happens mostly with men in their late 20s/early 30s. It's called neuritis, specifically brachial plexus neuritis with me, which is medical terms for in the shoulder blade. There is a network or cluster in the shoulder blade area which connects the nerves from the neck to the nerves which continue down through the shoulder, arm, and hand. So, basically I now suffer from mild nerve damage (non-permanent, I'm told by multiple neurologists) which stems from mostly my shoulder blade and upper back on my left side down my arm and into my hand. With the addition of the ruptured disc in my neck, this is not helping the healing factor progress as fast as I'd like, and what was originally supposed to take about 18 months to heal, is now taking 24+. Consequently, I had another nerve related injury in my left elbow that I was dealing with for over a year which I eventually had surgery for a couple months prior to the mess above.
"Some of you might have witnessed my freak episodes of hand cramping preventing me from playing parts of songs, whole songs, even full sets (sorry) and as luck would have it , this all correlates with one another.
"I'm still trying to remain positive throughout this whole disheartening ordeal, hoping that one day my situation will improve, but unfortunately for now I still can't do what I truly love...which is to play an instrument that has been a part of me for a better part of my life, and to perform with my friends...that is THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN. If anyone knows George Lucas, or can resurrect Miles Dyson from Cyberdyne/Skynet to create an artificial hand for me, I would greatly appreciate it..."
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN recently added former HEADS WILL ROLL guitarist Jeff Tuttle to its lineup.
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN entered the studio earlier in the year with producer Steve Evetts (SAVES THE DAY, EARTH CRISIS, SEPULTURA) to begin recording its new album, "Ire Works", for a late 2007 release via Relapse. The upcoming CD will feature the drumming of STOLEN BABIES' Gil Sharone following the departure of Chris Pennie (he now plays drums with COHEED AND CAMBRIA). Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Saigon Whore", "Doll Keeper" and "Party Smasher".
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will embark on a European tour with MESHUGGAH in November.
