Black Tide Back On Ozzfest 2007

They were deemed too young for the Jagermeister stage at Ozzfest but it looks like Black Tide have been promoted to the main stage at the music festival.

TuneLab is reporting that Black Tide has indeed joined Ozzfest after they announced last week that they had the opportunity taken away from them by the liquor giant Jagermeister because they were not old enough to drink. Sharon and co seemed to have gotten around this by bumping the band up to a coveted "main stage" slot. Not bad for a band who hasn't even released their debut album.

The band was called on earlier this week to replace Circus Diablo on the tour after that band pulled out of this year's "Free Fest". A few hours later as they prepared to leave to join the tour they had their Ozzfest dreams crushed.

They broke the news on their Myspace, "Jagermeister decided that since we were underage, they couldn’t allow us to play on their stage. We had the support of Live Nation and Ozzfest, but because Jagermeister owns the second stage, we can’t play. Sorry that we got anyone’s hopes up and we feel terrible about this whole ordeal."

The band's debut album on Interscope is set to be released sometime this year.

Eulogy Reforms and Set To Record

After a long hiatus, founding member Jarrett Pritchard has invoked the core trio of Tampa's now legendary death metal outfit EULOGY. Rejoined by Jason Avery, who spent many years fronting MONSTROSITY and drummer Clayton Gore of St. Louis' HARKONIN, the band is set to record a new album beginning on September 6 in Orlando with Jarrett at the controls.

Commented Jarrett: "At this point I have completed eight songs for the record and it promises not to dissapoint. On bass we have enlisted Mike Pogionne of MONSTROSITY/LECHEROUS NOCTURNE and at this time second guitar duties will be filled by none other than longtime friend Rob Barrett (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE PLOW, MALEVOLENT CREATION, SOLSTICE). At this point we have not approached any labels about the release and we intend to have the cap on it December 15, 2007 for an early 2008 release."

Born From Pain Announces New Singer

Dutch hardcore/metal outfit Born From Pain (Metal Blade Records) has found a permanent replacement for Che Snelting, who left the band early this year. Now joining the group is Kevin Otto, formerly of End Of Days. Here's a statement from the band:

"We are happy to announce that we have finally found a steady frontman in our long-time friend Kevin Otto. We jammed together and couldn't be more thrilled about what came out. Kevin adds a dose of unmatched aggressiveness to the Born From Pain sound that will step up the level of brutality for a new release and future live shows. We are glad the wait is over! Expect a new song soon! However, due to personal reasons, Kevin will not be doing any shows with us until after the Hell On Earth tour. Therefore, Born From Pain will be fronted by good friend and Terror vocalist Scott Vogel during the Hell On Earth tour. Thanks to Paul Superior, Marcel Platoon and Carl First Blood for helping us out and doing a great job on the microphone in times of need. Also, a huge thank you to all of you for supporting the band during this period. This proves to us, once again, that you are the most loyal crowd a band could ever wish for! Thanks."

Evergrey Announces New Bassist

In a post on their official website, Evergrey announced that their new bassist is Jari Kainulainen, formerly of Stratovarius. Here's part of the statement from Evergrey frontman Tom Englund:

"We got along great and it of course also helps a lot that Jari is a very experienced player when it comes to playing live with his several world tours together with Stratovarius as proof."

"This was one of the main things we were looking for in a bass-player except for the playing of course, so that we wouldn’t end up with a person who after 100 gigs finds out that this was not what he was meant for, cause this is, whether you believe so or not, a very weird and demanding life that let’s you experience the greatest things in the world as well as the sickest, most draining moments of utter insecurity - that of course immediately vanishes as soon as we get to play for you guys! We are so much looking forward to the coming months of recording and playing and it honestly feels like a fresh start and an injection I think we needed."

Kainulainen's first show with Evergrey will be at the Fosen Rock Festival in Fosen Norway on August 25th.

As previously reported, Everygrey parted ways with bassist Fredrik Larsson earlier this year, only nine months after he was recruited as the replacement for Michael Håkansson.

Job For A Cowboy And Behemoth To Tour Together

The following press release has been issued:

Hurley and Converse unite to present the 2007 "Radio Rebellion" Tour, a massive, twenty eight city North American trek that will showcase the cream of the crop of heavy music's rising stars from points across the globe. Co-headlining the tour will be Glendale, AZ extreme Metal unit JOB FOR A COWBOY and Polish Death Metal troupe BEHEMOTH.

The follow up to 2006's successful package tour of the same name, this year's planned jaunt sees the "Radio Rebellion" Tour upping the ante, especially in regards to the "heaviness factor", as the tour will grandstand two of underground Metal's most talked about rising artists in BEHEMOTH and JOB FOR A COWBOY. Support on the extreme expedition will be provided by highly regarded French band GOJIRA and Canadian technical Death Metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE.

JOB FOR A COWBOY, who has seen a meteoric ascent unparrelled in recent Metal history, will continue to tour in support of its debut full-length album "Genesis". "Genesis" debuted at #54 on Billboard's Top 200 chart this past May, shifting nearly 13,000 units in it's first week of release and joined the initial releases from STONE SOUR and DAMAGEPLAN (which featured members of SLIPKNOT and PANTERA respectively) amongst the highest charting Metal debuts to crack Billboard's Top 200 since SLIPKNOT's 1999 self-titled album. Additionally. the band has earned a landslide of recent accolades including being named "Best Underground Band" at the 2007 Metal Hammer "Golden Gods Awards", one of Total Guitar's "Hottest Guitar Bands Of 2007", one of Alternative Press' 2007 "Bands You Need To Know" and one of Revolver's "Breakthrough Bands that will be Kicking Your Ass this Year".

Ozzfest breakthrough artists BEHEMOTH are extremely proud to be a part of the "Radio Rebellion" tour, which is the perfect follow up to their highly successful summer run. The tour affords the band the opportunity to perform a longer set in more intimate settings, ultimately providing fans with "the definitive BEHEMOTH experience". This is also a chance for the band to perform an array of songs from their highly acclaimed new offering, "The Apostasy", which debuted at #149 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. While most bands struggle to evolve and stay vital within the extreme music genre, BEHEMOTH has managed to do so effortlessly. "The Apostasy" is destined to continue their legacy.

"We've toured U.S. ten times during last few years but we almost never had a chance to headline our own shows," BEHEMOTH main man Nergal states. "These last few years have been about working our asses off in order to establish our name and build a solid foundation, and now it will finally pay off. It's high time for us to come back to North America and show our fans what a BEHEMOTH set with full production can be. I love all the bands that are joining us as there is a lot of quality and variety on the bill. I'm thrilled to tour with GOJIRA and JOB FOR A COWBOY is phenomenal! Extremely talented band. I can't think of a better company for us. We're bringing all our lights, a full stage production, and will be delivering at least an hour long set. We'll be playing old stuff as well as songs from 'The Apostasy'. The 'Radio Rebellion' Tour is going to be massive! See you there my friends!"

On the topic of the tour, JOB FOR A COWBOY founding member Ravi Bhadriraju comments: "To be a part of a tour along side some of the best acts from around the world is awesome. BEHEMOTH, GOJIRA and BENEATH THE MASSACRE are all from different countries and are all amazing bands. This will be the heaviest tour of the fall! We're excited and ready to hit the road yet again. All of you JOB FOR A COWBOY fans can expect a show that will be worth your while. Look out!"

In addition to Hurley and Converse, "Radio Rebellion" 2007 tour sponsors include Revolver Magazine, Smartpunk, Metal Blade Records, Ferret Music and Prosthetic Records.

"Radio Rebellion" Co-Founder Stewart Teggart comments, "We are very excited to launch this year's 'Rebellion Tour'. It will be 'Radio Rebellion' in the truest sense as we've assembled four of the most extreme bands in Heavy Metal. Each band on the tour this year hail from a different country and all of them have their own unique way of delivering brutally heavy music. If you are a fan of Metal, this tour is not to be missed! Radio Rebellion will be the microphone for the youth by delivering what the fans want to see and hear which is why sponsors with a similar frame of mind have been chosen to help support the tour."

Early Nightwish Albums To Be Re-Released

Spinefarm Records will be launching in the UK this autumn, kicking off its campaign with deluxe versions of the first five albums from NIGHTWISH — the multi-platinum Finnish outfit whose latest CD, "Dark Passion Play", is scheduled for release late September/early October (depending on territory). The albums in question are as follows:

"Angels Fall First" (1997)
"Oceanborn" (1998)
"Wishmaster" (2000)

All of these reissues are fully endorsed by the band and will come complete with bonus tracks and videos, significantly expanded artwork, sleevenotes, messages, autographs and special packaging. There will also be a limited run of double albums, pressed onto coloured vinyl.

Many of the band's best-known compositions are featured on these titles —
"The Carpenter", "Sacrament Of Wilderness", "Sleeping Sun", "The Kinslayer", "Wanderlust", "Dead Boy's Poem", "Bless The Child", "Ever Dream" and more, plus spectacular covers of "Walking In The Air", "The Phantom Of The Opera" and Gary Moore's "Over The Hills And Far Away", a favorite of NIGHTWISH composer/keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen since he was a child.

To date, NIGHTWISH has sold around 3 million records worldwide, and has toured in 40 different countries.

VAN HALEN last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Wolfgang Van Halen, the projected replacement for VH bassist Michael Anthony, told People magazine in April 2007 that he wasn't disappointed there wasn’t' going to be a VAN HALEN tour this summer following his father's decision to check himself into rehab. "My dad's taking care of himself," he said. "I also think I'm too young for the experience, because I know there are a lot of bad things out there."

Eddie Van Halen issued a statement addressed to fans in early March announcing that he was seeking treatment because "at the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best.

"That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you," the statement said.

Back in January, Eddie Van Halen told Rolling Stone magazine about Wolfgang, "Wait until you hear this kid play. I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We've got a shredding bass player now that's laying down the law for Alex [Van Halen, drums], so I get to weave in and out."

VAN HALEN was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.

Gwar Confirms Viva La Bands Tour Participation

Gwar's Oderus Urungus has issued a new proclamation of hatred in which he announces the band's partipation in BAM MARGERA'S Viva La Bands Tour:

"Humans, it is I, your Master, ODERUS, lead singer of the most violent band in metal history, the mighty GWAR, with the latest update on our progress in the destruction of your world! We are pleased to smugly announce our
continuing ravaging of North America shall continue throughout the fall and winter of this year, as GWAR joins the first ever “Viva La Bands” tour, hosted by everyone’s favorite troll, Bam Magera! Yes, apparently Bam didn’t get enough of our abuse during our appearance on his show, and begged us (while he was hung over a vat of boiling urine) to join a line-up that includes CRADLE OF FILTH, C.K.Y., and more!"

"You are COMMANDED to attend and grovel in the presence of your infernal overlords, GWAR, as we extend our mastery to even more flaming venues across your world and inflict more suffering and pestilence upon a deserving nation! GWAR will tour with the “Viva La Bands” tour throughout the fall, and then move on to destroy even more cities in a final frenzy of touring that shall bring to a close the “Beyond Hell” tour cycle. Stay tuned for dates, times, and free crack! GWAR lives!"

Beyond Fallen Seek New Drummer

Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania-based metallers BEYOND FALLEN are looking for a new drummer. "This person will hit the ground running and be required to learn the songs quickly to be ready to play live, and begin to write the next album," the group writes on its MySpace page.

BEYOND FALLEN has been together four years and "this will only be our second lineup change (drummer)," says the group. "We just recently traveled to Germany to play shows, with more overseas travel very likely in the future. We also travel out of Northeast PA to play shows with national acts in the U.S., and plan on doing more of this.

"The band has some very good things happening, and this is a great opportunity for someone looking to do what we do. We need a person who is professional, talented, creative, dedicated, dependable and easy-going... and loves playing real metal more than anything else. If money is your only motivation, then this is not the band for you — but if you really enjoy metal, writing your own songs and travelling overseas to play then you could be in our band. If you are a pro, then most of this stuff is common sense."

BEYOND FALLEN's latest album, "Mindfire", was released in April via Melissa Records.

Ministry To Be Joined By Megadeth Members

MINISTRY mastermind and industrial metal pioneer Al Jourgensen has revealed the band's lineup for its final tour, which is expected to kick off early next year. It is as follows:

Al Jourgensen - Vocals
Jimmy DeGrasso (MEGADETH, Y&T, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) - Drums
David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5, TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY) - Bass
Tommy Victor (PRONG) - Guitar
Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS) - Guitar
John Bechdel (FEAR FACTORY, KILLING JOKE) - Keyboards

In a recent interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Jourgensen said, "We're tourng pretty extensively – we're doing like the CHER farewell tour. [Laughs] It's gonna be, like, 20 weeks of mayhem around the world, and then we're done."

After 27 years, 11 studio albums, four Grammy nominations, and plenty of pain, MINISTRY will release its final album, "The Last Sucker", on September 18. This will give Jourgensen plenty of time to devote himself to expanding his borderland compound, 13th Planet Records.

"I've got a lot of side-projects and new projects I want to focus on," explained Jourgensen. "We have our our own label, 13th Planet Records, we're building, and I want to sign, produce and collaborate with other artists. Being in the studio writing, recording and collaborating is my favorite part of this snake-oil industry. I'd rather be behind the console than behind the mic. Plus, I kinda like the synchronicity of Dubya and MINISTRY riding off into the sunset hand in hand."

"The Last Sucker" is the third in an unrelenting and uber-critical trilogy aimed at exposing the foils, failures and fabrications perpetrated by the George W. Bush administration. The CD, which follows 2004's "Houses of the Molé" and last year's "Rio Grande Blood", is the final nail in the Dubya coffin. The album was produced and recorded by Jourgensen himself at his 13th Planet compound in El Paso, TX, with musicians Thomas Victor (PRONG) on guitars, Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE, PRONG) on bass and guitarist Sin Quirin (THE REVOLTING COCKS). In addition, Burton C. Bell (FEAR FACTORY) makes a vocal appearance on "Die In A Crash", as well as the album's final two songs, "End of Days" parts One and Two.

"The Last Sucker" track listing:

01. Let's Go
02. Watch Yourself
03. Life Is Good
04. The Dick Song
05. The Last Sucker
06. No Glory
07. Death & Destruction
08. Roadhouse Blues
09. Die In a Crash
10. End of Days (Pt. 1)
11. End of Days (Pt. 2)

The Amenta's "n0n" Tracklisting Revealed

THE AMENTA are currently in the studio, recording “n0n”, the full length follow up to their acclaimed 2004 release “Occasus”.

All guitars, Samples and FX have been tracked and the band flew to Hobart, Australia to commence recording drums at Red Planet Studios in July. “n0n” is a much darker and more subtle album than its predecessor and is the product of a more experimental recording ethos.

THE AMENTA are stepping outside of their comfort zone and enjoying chaos. Riddled with electronic noise and guitar manipulation, “n0n” pushes modern technology to its limits. Lyrically the album deals with shadowy deals and moral compromises of this sick new world.

Here are the song titles revealed so far:

Skin
Whore
Vermin
Spine
Rape
Slave
Entropy
Atrophy
Dystrophy
Cancer
Junky
Dirt

The Haunted Vocalist Checks In

THE HAUNTED vocalist Peter Dolving has posted this message on his MySpace page:

"What a fucking summer huh? It's been about as messed up as anything I ever seen. But taking it easy and not touring ridiculously hard has had its perks though. I've had time to catch up with myself after what was a pretty intense year. And I figured out I really dig kinky sex even more when I' not in buzzed on morphine, stoned or drunk. Also, It is understandably close to gardening; it takes patience and the hands (amongst other things) of an artist, and though I might not really fill all the necessary criteria for being an ARTISTE, I sure as fuck like meddling about with its disciplines. Art. Good stuff.

On a less dirty note I just got blasted by Thor, for being too self involved - my computer AGAIN - got blown up by lightning and so it seems I have to get out of my little head and A. fix the remains of it. B. Take the hint, I need to get out more.

Seven months of composing and writing... fuck.

Something I've grown pretty unwilling to do the last three months. Honestly, the only people I've seen since I got home from tour are well, my family, the band, my friends in Narcotics Anonomous meetings and the dudes who drives the bus to town. Anyone else I've pretty much shied away from.

All I've done is play guitar, write fucked up metal, mess around in my garden, hang out with my kids and stay low.

Low.

You know all I really want to do right now is put together an insane weird fucking record. Whether that's gonna happen or not I don't fucking know, cause I feel there's so much fucking bullshit and fear surrounding everything that has to do with all this. We'll probably end doing some generic crap that Joe Shmoe can relate to and I'll end up feeling like a traitor. The music industry sucks. Fuck everything."
