Lord Post Final Song From New Album Online

Lord Tim, frontman for Australia's LORD, has issued the following update via MySpace:

“So, aside from bonus tracks, we've now reached the end of all of the songs on our new album, Ascendence, and what a great way to end!

‘Legacy’ is the album's epic - lots of solos, millions of guitar layers, insane drums and a huge choir of vocals (featuring the amazing voices of Tania Moran and "G" from Veil).

Some of you may have noticed that a couple of the songs were based on the transition from DUNGEON into LORD, and this song is the end of that story. Anyone interested in checking out the lyrics and liner notes for this song (and all of the songs from Ascendence) can go to www.lord.net.au and go to MUSIC -> LYRICS -> ASCENDENCE.

We hope you like this one, it's one of our favourites! Let us know what you think!”

Stemm Ex-vocalist Gives Farewell Message

"Hello my friends I apologize that is has been so long since you have heard from me. However I just wanted to make sure that I was in a clear head space so I could articulate myself properly. I'm sure by now many of you have heard that I am no longer in the band. So I wanted to let you all know what's going with me that lead to the current situation..."

"First of all I would like to thank all of you that have been there with me over the course of the past few years. Recently I have been reflecting on so many things that have gone on in my life since the inception of this band. I've been thinking about all the great shows, good times, and the way our lives have been forever intertwined by stories, and moments we have shared. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be part of your lives."

"Which leads me to the next portion of my explanation. I want to give you a little background of the events that have lead us to this point in time. I'm sorry that this is going to be so lengthy, but I didn't know how cut it down and still get across everything I am feeling, and frankly I felt I owed it to you since you all have been such a big part of my life." Stuck Mojo Guitarist Places Guitar On Ebay

The following message has been posted by the official Stuck mojo Myspace account:

"Guitar played in Open Season and I'm American video for sale.

This Tuesday, I am listing my Jim Nunis guitar on Ebay. This is a one of a kind guitar that I had made for me by the late Jim Nunis. Every piece of wood and hardware used to build this guitar was hand picked by me. It is a Les Paul/Strat hybrid. Standard Mahogany Les Paul cutaway body, with a Strat 's three pickup configuration. The bridge pickup is a SHR-1 hot rails humbucker and SSL-7 quarter-pound staggered pickups are in the middle and neck position. I had the guitar made with a super beefy maple neck, a maple fretboard, Spertzel tuners, a graphite nut, five position switch and a one volume knob is all you need (alla-Eddie Van Halen). The finish is a flat black relic finish and is marked as the, Rich "The Duke" Ward Prototype on the back of the headstock. This guitar was used to track parts on Southern Born Killers and was the guitar that I played in both, the I'm American and Open Season videos.

This guitar is an amazing player, has great tone and is the only one in existence.

I thought that I would offer it up to the Mojo/Fozzy/Duke/Sick Speed supporters first before listing it. Anyone interested, please private message me at www.dukerocks.com/phpBB2/ (username-the duke) or leave me a message www.myspace.com/thedukerocks.

Opening offer at $2000 plus shipping in it's original Nunis hardshell case.

Respectfully, Rich Ward"

Great White Frontman Talks About New Album

Blasting-Zone.com recently conducted an in-depth interview with GREAT WHITE frontman Jack Russell. Several excerpts follow:

Blasting-Zone.com: Do you feel "Back To The Rhythm" is GREAT WHITE collectively returning to their roots?

Jack: "Absolutely. I really think so, hence us using the song 'Back To The Rhythm' as the title track, ya know? It's like after twenty five years, we've finally come full circle. We didn't want it to be unproduced, but we also didn't want it to be overproduced, either. We wanted the record to sound to sound as good as it possible could without sounding overly-polished. I like the spontaneity and the live sound that it has to it, ya know? There's certain stuff that if you overdo it, you lose it. How many brushstrokes do you put on a painting? When do you finally put the last brushstroke on? You never really finish a painting, you just kinda abandon it, ya know? It's the same thing with a mix or a song. You can always add more, but you gotta get to that point where you're like, 'Okay, this is enough…' where you don't need to add any more."

Blasting-Zone.com: Taking everything into consideration, do you honestly feel this is the definitive GREAT WHITE line-up?

Jack: "I think this is the version of the band that most people know. The original line-up, if you wanna go back to 1982, was myself, (guitarist) Mark (Kendall), (drummer) Gary Holland and (bassist) Lorne Black. But nobody knows that band, ya know? Very few people even know that band existed and most people discovered us through our 'Once Bitten…' album, ya know? Sean McNabb, our bass player, has been playing with us longer than (bassist) Tony (Montana) was in the band. He's been through more of the ups and downs and feels more like a member to me. To me, this is the band that defined GREAT WHITE's sound."

Blasting-Zone.com: What was the main catalyst behind the original line-up reuniting?

Jack: "It was comin' up on twenty five years and I was thinking, 'You know, how do I wanna spend this? Do I wanna spend this with me, Mark and a couple of guys that nobody knows or…do I wanna do this with my old dear friends?' ya know? So I got on the phone and started making some calls. We had some issues so we said our apologies and that was it, ya know? It's funny how little stupid things can get blown out of proportion over the years and a simple conversation that's literally forty five seconds will clear everything up and put everything back on a straight course. I just feel real fortunate and blessed to have my dear friends with me again, ya know?"

Blasting-Zone.com: In hindsight, how would you describe the time the group spent signed to Capitol Records?

Jack: "Capitol, unfortunately, for us was not a rock label, ya know? I think we would have done better on a different label, honestly, but life is life… We had gone through so many changes in presidents there that by the time we left the company, we didn't know who anyone was. Every other year or so there was a new president and they'd be like, 'Well, I don't wanna deal with these guys. I wanna sign my own bands. I don't want anyone's hand-me-downs…' So we kinda got lost in the shuffle. And it was unfortunate because a lot of the better stuff was coming out later. 'Psycho City' was a very underrated record, ya know? It was good album...there was some good stuff on it and it could done well, but the president at the time wanted to work on Bonnie Raitt because that was his fantasy girlfriend, ya know? We got our gold records in the mail. That's how hands-off they were with us at that point, ya know? Of course he had pictures taken with us for the double platinum awards for '….Twice Shy', a record he had nothing to do with, but when it came to the gold records for 'Hooked', he was nowhere to be found. It is what it is, ya know?"

Blasting-Zone.com: To what do you attribute the group's survival when so many of your contemporaries have fallen by the wayside?

Jack: "I don't know. We have a very loyal fan base for whatever reason, thank goodness. I don't wanna say we're a better band than those bands…but we've never really given up. I've always said to myself, 'When this is finally over, it's gonna be over because I say it's over…' I'm not going to let circumstance or life dictate the death of GREAT WHITE, ya know? It's gonna be on our own terms… The fact that I still wanna do this and it's still fun is a big reason why we're still here, ya know? The fact that we were able to get all the original guys back together again makes it something different. This is the line-up people wanna see. They wanna see Michael Lardie, they wanna see Audie Desbrow, they wanna see Mark Kendall, ya know? They don't wanna see Jack Russell, Mark Kendall and a couple of guys they've never heard of, ya know? I think that's a big thing as well. I just feel very fortunate that after twenty five years, people still give a damn."

Stream Throwdown's Entire New Album Online

THROWDOWN's new album, "Venom & Tears", is available for streaming in its entirety via the group's official MySpace page. Due on August 7 via Trustkill Records, the CD was produced by Mudrock, who has done seminal work with such bands as AVENGED SEVENFOLD and CHIMAIRA.

THROWDOWN frontman Dave Peters previously stated about the new CD, "We kinda went back to our roots as far as what got us into playing music, rather than sticking to what got us into hardcore. When I saw my first hardcore band live in 1992 I remember thinking, 'Whoa, this is like PANTERA without the guitar solos.' We weren't trying to consciously add metal or other elements into our songs. When we wrote 'Haymaker' (2003) that's about as bare bones and raw as it gets. Add four years later of playing and touring together to that and we've developed quite a ways with influences, execution, and fuck it, we'll play a solo if we want to too."

Rest Of MSG UK Tour Cancelled?

According to a posting on the Michael Schenker News and Tour Information web site, it appears as if the remainder of MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP's U.K. has been cancelled. Schenker and his band were scheduled to perform last night (Friday, August 3) in Stourbridge, U.K. but ended up calling off the gig after only a handful of songs. A short review of last night's concert, as posted on the Michael Schenker News and Tour Information web site, follows:

"Well, it looks like the tour is over and that Michael will be in a German hospital tomorrow. The show did indeed start with smiles, broad ones too, but the joy at having cranked up the engine successfully gave way to the disappointment of realising that it wasn't running at all well. The riffing wasn't too bad but the solos were just awful. I think everybody connected with the tour expected this. As the intro tape played I watched Tyson standing with his dad's 'V' on his thigh and wondered what was going through his head and then saw another crew member light a cigarette behind the amps. It was how things are portrayed in films when beleaguered troops await the inevitable charge of a superior enemy.

"For me, the Schenker smiles at the start were the clue that this was a guy who wanted to play but couldn't get the brain and fingers to co-ordinate, almost like a recovering stroke victim concentrating hard to do something that would normally be so simple. Sadly many of the audience didn't see this, and started to shout abuse and throw stuff, most noticeably from 'Lights Out' onward, as I think that this was the point when people could really tell how bad things were. Yet the target of their venom, awful or not, might as well have been a frail, elderly man, because apart from his face Schenker's physical appearance and demeanour added 30 years to his real age.

"I was ashamed at the lack of humanity some people showed.

"Humanity did come calling in the end though. Right after 'Only You Can Rock Me', Michael lifted his guitar off his lap and stood up (he'd played all but the first song sat on a corner of the small drum riser). There was a brief huddle followed by 'thank you, good night' from the band. And that was it. The suffering was, we are led to believe, over, or at least the first step towards ending it had been taken. Probably this isn't a good time to comment on the band (nor on RATTLESNAKE REMEDY who were fantastic, in my opinion) musically, but they battled on manfully and were constantly supportive of, and encouraging to, their guitarist. That was what drew his smiles out even in the midst of this torment, knowing that these guys were still trying to pull him along even as the wheels were falling off. Chapeau fellas.

"Last thought for now — no sad song ever written jerks a tear quite like seeing Michael Schenker's face when he's failing to play his solo in 'Only You Can Rock Me'. One of the saddest things I've ever seen."

Immortal Claim To Have Forced CoF Offstage

IMMORTAL frontman Abbath has told the Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende that the group's rabid fan base forced CRADLE OF FILTH to play an abbreviated set at Slovenia's Metalcamp festival late last month by constantly screaming for the Norwegian black metal legends to take the stage.

Asked by Bergens Tidende to name the highlight of IMMORTAL's reunion tour so far, Abbath said, "It was fucking great last weekend at Metalcamp in Slovenia. The audience was totally wild. They were clearly our fans; they screamed 'Immortal!' in between the other bands' songs. CRADLE OF FILTH walked off stage because they [the audience] screamed for IMMORTAL. They played a couple of songs and walked off stage pissed off. That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen!"

The organizers of this year's Metalcamp festival, which took place July 16-21, 2007 in Tolmin, Slovenia, last week released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the rumors that CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth was "arrested" following his band's performance at the event.

According to a report posted on the Romanian web site Metalhead.ro, Dani, "in a state of advanced drunkenness," grabbed several portable fans (the kind used to control ventilation) from the stage and threw them at the security guards and the audience, which caused the crowd to start booing him. As a result the group's concert was cut short by "four songs" and the band "quietly" left the stage.

Wednesday 13 Part Ways With Guitarist

WEDNESDAY 13 (ex-MURDERDOLLS) has parted ways with guitarist Eric Griffin. "Eric is a great guy and has been a huge asset to the touring band for the past year," Wednesday says in a statement. "He is an amazing player and will add new life to whatever band he joins! It will be extremely difficult to find a replacement."

If you are interested in joining WEDNESDAY 13's touring lineup as the group's guitarist, send you details to mule@horrorhigh.com.

Wednesday 13 will embark on the U.S. "Ghouls on Parade" tour in October before heading overseas for the "Fan Bang" fan appreciation trek. Wednesday will also do some acoustic shows with his country band BOURBON CROW.

Wednesday 13 has been filming a new video project over the last few months. The show, entitled "Weirdo A-Go-Go", will feature the campy and morbid sense of humor that any fans of Wednesday 13 can expect. In the first two episodes, Wednesday 13 hosts clips and trailers of cheap horror flicks, along with performing schlocky but witty skits with his strange and wacky sidekicks. The program promises to resurrect the tradition of Saturday morning TV shows that Wednesday 13 grew up on — the random creations of Sid and Marty Krofft and Pee Wee's Playhouse mixed with the comedic approach of horror hosts Commander USA, Elvira, and Zacherely.

The project, to be distributed by Horror High, LLC, was shot by Rafa of Core Entertainment, Inc. Rafa is most noted for the video and web site projects he has done for AVENGED SEVENFOLD, EVANESENCE, ROB ZOMBIE, DISTURBED, STATIC-X and the Dimebag tribute bracelet. An October release is expected.

Celtic Frost Mainman Posts New Blog

CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted this message on his official blog:

"In my eyes, one of the true pioneers of combining Rock music and drum machines is Andrew Eldritch with the SISTERS OF MERCY. And that was some ten years before CELTIC FROST recorded the 'Under Apollyon's Sun' demos. Not to speak of groups such as Kraftwerk, which I began listening to in the late 1970s and which also utilized programmed drums in the studio and on stage.

'Under Apollyon's Sun' could have been a exceptionally varied and interesting album, that is true. But in all honesty, it is futile to interpret anything into it so many years later. The music for this album was far from being finished. And I mean far. The demos for 'Monotheist' are a perfect indication of how CELTIC FROST's music goes through substantial cycles of change and evolution over the years. The early demos for 'Monotheist' (including the music fragments that survived up to the finished album) are radically different from what we eventually released. It was the same for the 'Into The Pandemonium' album (although none of its rehearsal room demos survive), and it would have been the same for 'Under Apollyon's Sun'.

The 'Under Apollyon's Sun' demos that found their way into the public are thus largely simply fragments of songs. There were a total of three demo recording sessions, two of which only took place because our music publisher at the time, Warner Chappell/Equinox Songs, requested that we submit samples of the music we were working on. 'Pearl Of Love' was hugely unfinished both musically and lyrically; a later incarnation that was more developed became 'Pearl Beloved'. 'Icons Alive' was later substantially changed and became massively heavier. 'Primeval Rapture' was also far from finished; it is essentially the demo for the first two verses of a song. Even the title song, 'Under Apollyon's Sun', was a work in progress, and I later decided to drop 'Idols Of Chagrin' entirely instead of ever working on it again.

The songs from the early 1992 New York demo were even more undeveloped, and most were later dropped in the course of the songwriting sessions, with only parts of them to be used later. I quickly began to loath most of the fragments on that demo. To me it lacked just about everything that defines classic, epic, and heavy CELTIC FROST. It is a fact that songwriting and recording sessions can occasionally result in a failure, in utterly unusable material. And the New York demo is a perfect example.

There were quite a number of additional songs in countless stages of development, but nothing was even close to be ready for an actual inclusion on an album. As such, the 'Under Apollyon's Sun' album is a myth, and the whole thing is a moot point.

This is why so little music from that time has survived to be later developed any further. The only 'Under Apollyon's Sun'-era music on 'Monotheist' is one single riff I wrote in 1992 for various incarnations of a never finished song which would eventually be named 'Pearl Beloved'. In 2005, this riff became part of an entirely new song, 'Domain Of Decay', now featured on 'Monotheist'.

As for lyrics, again very little from that ear was ever even considered for inclusion on a later CELTIC FROST album. Some of the lyric fragments (i.e., individual lines) that made it on 'Monotheist' are, for example, in 'Temple Of Depression'. And the initial idea to that song, in its earliest form, actually was created some time after 'Into The Pandemonium'.

As for my later industrial project, APOLLYON SUN, the comparison of APOLLYON SUN's 'Sub' album with CELTIC FROST's 'Into The Pandemonium' is a distinctively two-sided affair. On one hand, it is likely that CELTIC FROST eventually would have written some songs in that vein, had the band continued healthily and without the record company induced cataclysm that befell it after 'Into The Pandemonium'. On the other hand, APOLLYON SUN was a completely different project, made up if people who had absolutely nothing to do with CELTIC FROST (some were not even into CELTIC FROST's music), and I was merely one of five songwriters in that band. I hardly even played guitar on 'Sub', save for one song or so. There again, 'Sub' is not the mythical successor to 'Into The Pandemonium' that many are looking for.

There will likely never be an album like 'Into The Pandemonium' again. Rock music has come of age, and every style, every combination of styles, has been done to death. Things like the inclusion of classical music, electronics, programming, female vocals, occult themes, and so on, have been trivialized, their fascination reduced to dust by a million bands that have more often than not recorded generic versions without any of the manic obsession and overflowing emotion that makes 'Into The Pandemonium' what it is."

Sepultura Guitarist Posts Another Update

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has posted this message on his MySpace page:

"Living and learning. It's amazing to be a part of a band that has the privilege of travel the world so many times. Today (August 1), I've walked around Jena, a city that used to be East Germany, very nice people and beautiful buildings. I knew a little bit about Goethe, Johann W. Goethe the great German poet. But, he was not only the writer of 'Faust' but a far bigger genius. His influence in Jena is felt everywhere. Between the years of 1775 to 1830, he came here to write and to help. He made and inspired many improvements in the city like road construction and modernization of the city structure. He also was a scientist responsible for the creation of the Botanical Gardens, where he lived while in town, the creation of the Jena University library, from his own books, wrote on anatomy, mineralogy, botany. Truly a Genius like the others of Einstein and Da Vinci. Amazing!

We need no politicians to do the stuff we need for ourselves. We only need the inspiration and guidance of brilliant minds that understands and respects the planet and the human nature."

Till We Die To Tour With Powerman 5000

Massachusetts-based metallists, Till We Die, are preparing to hit the road alongside Powerman 5000, in support of their just released full-length debut, Pressing On. Released via Screaming Ferret Wreckords, the album sees the band touching upon both Tool's prog explorations and melodic rock.

But despite this being the groups debut album, Till We Die are already an experienced live act, having played with RA, Lacuna Coil, Staind, Tantric, Sevendust, and Drowning Pool. The group welcomes the opportunity to open for Powerman 5000 a group they have played with previously.

"This will be our fourth national tour and I can't express how excited I am to be playing a support role for a band like Powerman 5000, gushes Till We Die guitarist Joe Demarco. That band has done it all and we are so excited to be a part of this tour. We will be playing in some new markets which we have been dying to play - as well returning to some cities that have been supporting us since the beginning."

Drummer Dave Stewart is also looking forward to the tour as he hopes it is an important stepping-stone to widespread success. "Powerman 5000 is a band that we all grew up listening to and supporting their shows. The fact that they are from the same area as us is a very cool feeling. Its seems New England has always been a breeding ground for bands that have built up huge fan bases and have exploded onto the national music scene. From bands like Shadow's Fall, Staind, Fuel, PM5K, and of course Godsmack."

"We hope that with our continued efforts we might have the same success as these bands did."

Here are the dates for Till We Die/Powerman 5000 tour: More...
