Sweden's DARKANE has issued the following press release in regard to the departure of vocalist Andreas Sydow (pictured):

Statement from Andreas:

"The time has come, my friends for me to step down from my position as vocalist of the greatest band in the world!"

"I feel I’ve reached a stand still in the creative process with Darkane and together we came to the decision to let fresh blood into the band for the upcoming fifth album. Darkane is constantly evolving and I’m sure that this ignition will be great for the band."

Abysmal Dawn Post FPE-TV Visit Video Online

The Los Angeles based extreme metal band, ABYSMAL DAWN, recently visited the FPE-TV studios in Burbank, CA to show off some of their carpal tunnel inducing riffs. Footage of guitarists Charles Elliott and Jamie Boulanger performing the song "Servants to Their Knees," as well as a few new riffs, can now be viewed on YouTube.

ABYSMAL DAWN will enter the studio this year to begin recording the as-yet-untitled follow-up to "From Ashes". An early 2008 release is expected.

ABYSMAL DAWN's debut album, "From Ashes", was released in April 2006 via Crash Music Inc. It was engineered, mixed and mastered by John Haddad at Shiva Industries. Chimaira Cancel European Tour

CHIMAIRA have posted this message on their official website:

"Hello everyone.

As you may or may not know, we have decided to cancel our upcoming UK/European run. There's really no way for us to describe our sorrow after having decided to pull out of the Eastpak Antidote tour. It was an extremely difficult decision for us to make, and one that we have been painfully mulling over for weeks now. We'd first like to apologize to all of our die hard fans, and then to all the great guys (and girl) in SOILWORK, CALIBAN, and SONIC SYNDICATE.

After nine years and more than 700 shows, we can proudly say that we've cancelled a little more than a handful. Our motto has always been that somebody's got to be either sick or dead before we pull the plug. However this time, that is not the case. No one is sick, no one is dead, and not one of us is even tired. In fact, it's the exact opposite...All six of us are on fire with creativity. And if we don't take some time to let it flow, it could possibly go away.

As a lot of you know, the last record brought a lot of unity and excitement back to our band. Our brotherhood is stronger than ever, and we've finally 're-focused'. We need to get back into the rehersal space and explore some of the song ideas we've got going on right now. This record cycle is certainly not over for us, and we still plan on touring heavily in support of 'Resurrection' throughout the winter, and throughout 2008. We're also not 'writing and recording' a new record right now, so don't get that idea...(maybe an EP??) We've just decided that we need to spend the next three months laying down some material that is flowing through us uncontrollably. We've looked at this decision from every angle, and the last thing we'd ever want to do is disappoint our loyal fans. But as painful as it was, we all agreed that this decision was best for CHIMAIRA's 'Big Picture'. So please be hopeful, like we are, that this decision will benefit us all in so many ways. After all, you've got to strike while the iron's hot.

So fear not Chimairian's... we've got a ton of great ideas in mind for the future. Our winter US headlining tour will be some of our best shows to date. The production is going to be over the top, and you'll see a fire in us like you've never seen before. Plus, everyone is going to start hearing a lot of the songs that you've been asking for. 'Six'?... 'The Flame'?... 'Dead Inside'?...you got it. Well, maybe not 'Dead Inside', but you get the picture. And we definitely plan on bringing the same passion overseas sometime in early 2008. We've got some killer ideas on the table, we're shooting a new video, and frickin Andols (Herrick - drums) is back!

Finally, our sincerest hopes that you will all understand and forgive. And we promise to make it up to you all in one way or the other."

Anathema Talk About New Album And European Tour

ANATHEMA’s Danny Cavanagh has issued a lengthy update on the band’s upcoming plans, which include a European tour with PORCUPINE TREE and tentative plans to release a double-album entitled Paradigm Shift. The update reads as follows:

“ANATHEMA is planning to play a lot of new material on tour with PORCUPINE TREE throughout Europe in the autumn…

“PORCUPINE TREE have kindly asked ANATHEMA to support them on their full European tour in the autumn…this tour is still in the planning stage and will cover a lot of territories.

“ANATHEMA have decided that - rather than rushing into the studio to finish the album in time for the tour, (and not being able to work with the producer we would like) - it will actually benefit the new songs to play them live BEFORE recording them.

“So you can expect to hear songs like ‘Angels Walk Among Us‘, ‘Paradigm Shift‘, ‘Hindsight‘, ‘Get Off, Get Out‘, ‘Lightning Song‘, ‘One Day‘, ‘Summernight Horizon‘, ‘Further‘, ‘A Simple Mistake‘ and others on the tour with PT…

“Our new American manager is helping to put everything in place for us to record and release this ambitious music. He is negotiating deals in the USA and advising us on our best way to go. the response from record companies has been very positive.

“We intend to record over 80 minutes of music [and] at least 14 songs. The idea AT THE MOMENT is to release a double album called simply…Paradigm Shift.

“Again this not not confirmed, PLANS CAN CHANGE.

“A double album WILL NOT mean it will be a very long album…it may only be two groups of seven songs…split over two CD’s in order to be easily digested by the listener. It definitely will not be a self indulgent album. It definitely is not a concept album.

“Themes of life, healing and unity will run through some of the songs…

“The recent shows we have played this year have been great. We had some great nights, some great audiences and great laughs. Thanks for everyone who helped make it happen. Special thanks must go out to Derek and Alex at the agency, Mick Reed, Milly Evans, Raymond, Ian, Loz and Hans for making it all work.

“We have loved playing. We look forward very much to introducing this intense, passionate new music to the public on tour with PORCUPINE TREE. we then look forward to recording what i personally think will be a wonderful record after the tour. It is the first album we have made that will be truly complete. It will change lives. Hopefully beginning with ours.”

Zimmer's Hole Sign Deal WIth Century Media

Vancouver’s ZIMMERS HOLE have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records and will be entering the studio today to begin tracking their third full-length release. This band are no strangers to the underground metal community, as the lineup features Byron Stroud (FEAR FACTORY, SYL) on bass and Jed Simon (TENET, SYL) on guitars, along with Chris “The Heathen” Valagao (vocals) and Steve Wheeler (drums).

Byron and Jed further comment: “Now with ZH signing a fresh, new deal with Century Media, we have decided to give this band our full and undivided attention. No more ’side-project’ status here; the men of The Hole are fired up like a city on fire and we entered Vancouver’s famed Armoury Studios today to begin tracking the new release.

“We currently have 19 songs on the table for the new album and some tentative song titles include, ‘The Dark Church of Whatever,’ ‘We Rule The Fucking Land,’ ‘Flight Of The Knight Bat‘ and ‘Hair Doesn’t Grow on Steel.’ As you can see, it’s all about having a good time with The Hole. Make no mistake though, we are very serious about our love of metal; it made us who we are, and we wear our influences on our sleeves proudly.

“We are now more focused than ever before and are so excited about the new album. So excited in fact, that the combined length of our erections may just reach out and touch ya!”

Born in 1991, ZIMMERS HOLE (known by many as just “The Hole”) has been Byron and Jed’s significant other band when not busy with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD or FEAR FACTORY. In the beginning, it was always just a way of spending the weekend drinking far too much and writing absurd songs. As time went on, the group “matured” somewhat, although maturity is highly overrated as far as these guys go, but two albums (Bound By Fire and Legion of Flames), a series of successful tours and a string of absolutely unforgettable shows soon followed, putting the mighty ZH on the lips of many.
