Green Carnation Announce Lineup Split

GREEN CARNATION mainman Tchort has announced that the current line up of the band has split up:

“Although releasing the amazing concert DVD ‘A Night Under The Dam‘ earlier this year, the band felt drained of energy after the miserable organized USA tour put together by The End Records and their booking agent. The End Records being one of the main supporters of the band the last years, bringing hope back to GREEN CARNATION’s view on the music business, left the band with broken promises, huge debts, theft of license money and a poor organized tour draining the band for energy. The band doesn’t blame The End Records for all of its problems, but they made a bad situation worse by first giving the tour a green light when the conditions for the tour were doomed from the beginning and then later withdraw license money, merchandise money, merchandise and not paying the band or its sound engineer, leaving the band in debts. All of which could have been avoided by cancelling the tour before it started. The End Records lost money on the tour as well, so why it wasn’t cancelled when the contracts for the tour were offered to the label, is a unanswered question. More...

Arch Enemy Release Rise Of The Tyrant Single

Having just successfully performed their first shows with returned guitarist Christopher Amott last weekend in the United Kingdom at a special Kerrang! Barfly club show in London and the Bloodstock Festival, metal maestros Arch Enemy are proud to unveil details of the first single release off their upcoming new album "Rise Of The Tyrant".

The special single is "Revolution Begins" and the tracklisting is:
1. Revolution Begins (4:11)
2. Blood On Your Hands (4:40)
3. Walk In The Shadows (3:07) [Queensrÿche Cover Version] * Non-Album Track
4. I Am Legend / Out For Blood (5:36] [Live 2007] * Non-Album Track

As well as the title track you get another brand new song, the albums lead track "Blood On Your Hands", which was recently launched on www.myspace.com/archenemy as an exclusive preview track. This special-priced single, packaged in dramatic artwork courtesy of Niklas Sundin, includes 2 very special non-album bonus songs: A cover version of Queensrÿche's classic "Walk In The Shadows" and "I Am Legend / Out For Blood - Live", recorded earlier in 2007 when the band toured in South America. Arch Enemy mainman Michael Amott comments the cover song's choice as follows:

"We've always had a lot of respect for Queensrÿche, they've written so many amazing songs. 'Walk In The Shadows' is off their 'Rage For Order' album, which is mine and Sharlee's (D'Angelo, Bass) favourite Queensrÿche album. We did the song 'our way' and it sounds quite different to the original, we just hope the Queensrÿche guys are cool with it if they ever hear it!"

"Revolution Begins" is released August 31st in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, September 3rd in Greece and September 5th in Sweden and Finland so watch out!

Atreyu To Do In Store Sessions

Orange County, California's ATREYU will premiere its new album, "Lead Sails Paper Anchor", to the world on August 24. The band has set-up a special listening party with MySpace where all their fans can preview the new album before it goes on sale August 28.

To listen to the new album, go to www.myspace.com/atreyurock.

To celebrate the release of "Lead Sails Paper Anchor", ATREYU has scheduled two special in-store events for its hometown fans. On August 28, the band will be in Irvine, CA at the Irvine Spectrum and will be signing copies of its new album starting at 5:00 p.m. Then on August 30, the band heads down to Horton Plaza in San Diego, CA for another signing at the Hot Topic store. Fans that purchase the record in advance of street date at the Irvine location will get a wristband that will guarantee them a meet-and-greet with ATREYU and the same applies to the San Diego fans that purchase the record on August 28.

ATREYU's new song "Doomsday", has been posted on the band's MySpace page. The band is currently previewing select songs from the highly anticipated album during the Family Values Tour, where ATREYU is sharing the stage with KORN, HELLYEAH and EVANESCENCE, among others.

ATREYU recorded "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" this spring with producer John Feldmann (THE USED, GOOD CHARLOTTE) who worked with the band to create their most infectious, ambitious and musically challenging disc yet. While the band's juxtaposition of hardcore-influenced chaos and rock-influenced melody is still present, the gulf between the two styles is diminished, making the passages flow in a smoother and more naturalistic manner. "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" was mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, SLIPKNOT, LINKIN PARK).

"Lead Sails Paper Anchor" track listing:

01. Doomsday
02. Honor
03. Falling Down
04. Becoming the Bull
05. Slow Burn
06. Two Become One
07. No One Cares
08. Can't Happen Here
09. Lose It
10. Blow
11. Lead Sails (and a Paper Anchor)

"At this time C.C. Deville of POISON and VH1's 'Surreal Life' is accepting dates for his long-awaited solo tour in development at this time to kick off mid-to-late October through November.

"We hope you will find this exciting as this is the first solo tour C.C. has done in many years and is ready to rock your establishment at a reasonable rate plus rider expenses.

"Coming off the heels of a national tour with the group POISON ending September 3 in Atlanta has been a journey that has gone on now for 21 years and the fans are still gravitating to see this great band over and over again each year. C.C. has many songs that have not been performed on the tour and then there are still some crowd favorites that will all be sung during his solo show in person for more of an intimate crowd/setting.

"Thank you in advance for your interest in this offering that can only be described as a memorable occasion that C.C. brings to the stage with his dynamic character and style as a legendary guitarist of this time and era.

Godhead Working Hard On New Album

GODHEAD frontman Jason Miller has issued the following update:

"We just played an amazing concert in Madison, WI a few weeks ago called 'Band Camp.' It was great to meet up with a lot of bands we hadn't seen in a while like STONE SOUR, SEVENDUST, NONPOINT, DOPE, KITTIE and many others!

"Here are a few photos taken by our guitar tech, Cody Clark.

"We headlined the second stage so we actually got to go on after SEVENDUST and right before STONE SOUR! The stages were right next to each other so the crowd was amazing!

"Anyway, just wanted to let you know that we're hard at work writing the new album. We've decided to have our very own Ullrich 'Method' Hepperlin produce it and it's going to be the darkest, heaviest record we've ever done! This album will appeal to both the metal fan and the industrial fan. Trust me on this one! I can't wait for you guys to hear Glen's amazing drums. We're totally going to let Mike loose on this one too....expect a lot of amazing guitar work! In addition to 12 new songs, we're going to have a DVD in it again with even MORE footage than before, with lots of behind-the-scenes tour footage from the last tour we just did with AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE."

GODHEAD filmed its acoustic performance on April 25, 2007 at Citizen Smith in Hollywood, CA for an upcoming DVD, to be released in December. Cement Shoes Records/Coming Home Studios president, Dan Catullo produced and directed the event. Dan Catullo has also produced and directed such DVDs as RUSH's "Rush in Rio", GODSMACK's "Changes", MARILYN MANSON's "Guns, God and Government", and THE CULT's "Music Without Fear", to name a few.

Korn Guitarist In No Rush To Find New Members

Denver Westworld recently conducted an interview with KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Westworld: Let's talk about the new disc, then. You guys started working with the Matrix again, and they you decided to go in a different direction, right?

Munky: Well, we started writing with them in the beginning, and we wrote a few songs. I wrote a lot of guitar stuff with the Matrix, and they had taken the songs and I think me, myself and the Matrix wrote something like eighteen songs over a few months. And then we wrote about ten songs with Atticus Ross after that. So what we did was took the best of both of those sessions. We took the Matrix sessions and rerecorded them with real drums to give those songs a more organic feel. It started to feel like there were two different producers, but we wanted the album to sound all the same as far as recording. So we went and took four of the songs that the Matrix did and I think seven of the songs that Atticus did, and rerecorded the four songs with Atticus, and that gave us the album.

Westworld: When you guys started working with the Matrix in the first place, it was controversial given the kinds of artists they'd worked with in the past. Some people might think you decided not to do a whole album with them again because you had some dissatisfaction with the Matrix. What's your take on that?

Munky: My take on that is, they had a lot of creative input, and somehow it's been downplayed. And just for the record, I think they're a very talented writing team, and they had a tremendous influence on the album.

Westworld: And you in no way want it to seem that they were watering you down? You're still positive about their contributions?

Munky: Absolutely.

Westworld: You said the first batch of songs didn't have live drums on them. Was that because of David [Silveria]'s departure?

Munky: Even on the "See You On the Other Side" album, the drums were programmed to a lot of the songs to the guitar riffs I had written, and then David had come in and retracked the drums and made them better. So that's how they started out again, and since David isn't with us, we had Brooks Wackerman come in and rerecord those four songs we wanted to put on the album.

Westworld: David's departure and Brian's [Welch, guitar] departure not that much earlier meant that there was a lot going on in the band. Had you guys thought about adding two permanent members? Or was the timing such that it didn't make sense in that short a period of time?

Munky: The timing was definitely a factor. It's hard because these are members who were with the band for fifteen years, and they're brothers. If your brother leaves home, you don't just go out and get a new brother. And that's how it is. Until we find the right people, I think it'll just be the three of us for the moment.

Westworld: So you're not opposed to adding new permanent members, but you want it to be organic, as opposed to lining up a bunch of players and having auditions?

Munky: Yeah. That's not our style.

Westworld: The critics seem to be laying for you on this disc. They've been pretty nasty so far. But it seems like you guys have never really been a critic's band. Is your point of view that it doesn't really matter what they think? It matters what the fans think?

Munky: It's always about the fans. I know Jerry Springer might make good TV for some viewers, because people like to bash and it makes for good reading. But ultimately it's the fans' opinion that matters to us. [Pause.] I don't know why I just referenced Jerry Springer…

Westworld: I was trying to figure that one out…

Munky: Don't try to figure it out. I've had a really long morning. But at the end of the day, it's the fans' opinion that counts. That's why we try not to read too many reviews, either good or bad.

Westworld: Speaking of reading, I have to ask if you've read Brian's book.

Munky: I have not.

Westworld: Any interest?

Munky: Do you know why I haven't?

Westworld: Why?

Munky: Because I was with him. I know what the book's about. The only thing that I know, and I've been told, is that I didn't know he had such a bad drug addiction. And nobody else in the band did, either. But everything else, I lived it with him. I was there.

Westworld: But everyone's got a different point of view, and from what I understand — and I haven't read it yet, either — he's pretty hard on the band in general.

Munky: Have you read it?

Westworld: No, I haven't read it. But from what I've read it about it, and from some people's reactions, it suggests that he kind of blames the band for his addiction and him getting into a bad mental state.

Munky: Yeah, I can see how that could happen. Being in a rock band in general, and this type of lifestyle, as everybody knows, it can run you into drug addiction. I'm definitely going to want to pick up the book and read it now, because it's the lifestyle. It's hard to be away from your family. A lot of people don't realize that. You're gone a lot, and when you're a single parent like he was, it becomes very difficult. I'm a single parent, and it's really hard to be away from my daughter. She just turned six, and it was one of my most difficult times to be away from home. I missed her sixth birthday.

Westworld: That is hard…

Munky: You know, some people use crutches to deal with that type of thing, and those crutches become addictions. But let me tell, just for the record, I love the guy. I really miss him.

Westworld: So it sounds like when you read the book, you're not going to take it personally, because you know how you feel about him, and how he feels about you?

Munky: Yeah. There's probably nothing in there that's going to offend me.

As I Lay Dying Drummer Talks About New Album

Brian Sweeney of Blistering recently conducted an interview with AS I LAY DYING drummer Jordan Mancino. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Blistering: Tell me about the new album.

Jordan Mancino: It's more of a diverse album in terms of style of songs than we've ever done. We were able to spend more time writing for this album and we concentrated mainly on trying to make the songs all sound different and capture you in different ways, so we were able to put in the time to make each song its own so every song didn't sound the same.

We are really excited about the record and excited for people to hear it. We put a song up ("Within Destruction") on our MySpace [recently], and the response from most people has been really good. But it seems that a lot of the older fans that are used to more singing didn't really understand the song because it's a little heavier than we normally play.

Blistering: Are the rest of the songs comparably heavy?

Mancino: That's the thing, is that every song is so different. That's definitely one of the heavier songs on the album. We're planning on releasing another song in a couple weeks to let people know that every song doesn't sound like that—we're the same band, we're just trying to branch out a little bit. A lot of the younger fans don't really understand that because the song we put on MySpace is a little more thrashy. They haven't really listened to bands like ANTHRAX or SLAYER, so I don't think they really get it. We wanted to write songs like that because all those bands are big influences on all of us, so we wanted to show people that side of our interests and our music.

Blistering: The band self-produced both previous albums, but you decided to bring in Adam Dutkiewicz from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE as a producer. What was it like working with him?

Mancino: It was great. It was nice working with someone that was outside of the band. Certain parts that we all had disagreements on he was sort of the unbiased third party that would give us his opinion, and so we chose him because we value his opinion. It was really nice as far as that stuff goes. And he's also a great player — drummer, guitar player, singer — so when we were tracking he was really awesome, really nitpicky. He wouldn't take anything less than perfection from us. It was a very hard tracking experience because he wanted everything perfect, but it was great.

Blistering: Your band doesn't really use the typical grotesque death-gore-metal lyrics. Being a metal fan, do you have difficulty listening to bands that do use that type of imagery?

Mancino: No, not at all. Music is a type of expression. Who am I to say what a person can do and can't do? I might not personally do it myself, but I wouldn't judge anybody. I have no right to do that. We wouldn't do that, but CANNIBAL CORPSE, I guess they have some grotesque type of pictures on their covers or shirts, but that's their thing and that's cool. It's not like we have any issues with that. We actually toured with them this summer, and they're all the nicest, sweetest dudes ever. I'm sure that'll shatter some death metal fans' image of the band because they're really nice guys who aren't going to rip your head off or something. They're all really awesome dudes, and so we do our thing and they do their thing. It's like touring with bands like BEHEMOTH. They do their thing and we do ours. But we're all friends with those guys, so I guess music is our common bond.

Alice Cooper To Appear In Designer Ad

According to AdWeek.com, ALICE COOPER doesn't scream high fashion, but the aging rocker's never looked better than in this fall campaign for John Varvatos from Yard, New York. In one ad, he's outfitted in a black velvet jacket and top hat as he lounges on a couch with an enormous boa constrictor. Another features an eye-catching portrait of the singer with the snake playfully caressing his angular face. Photographed by music documentarian Danny Cinch, the black-and-white series, punctuated with the designer's name in bold red type, is another chic effort from the American menswear designer and a fine follow-up to previous ads featuring Iggy Pop and Velvet Revolver. The result is effortless, timeless style—just like the music it celebrates.

NIN Album To Be Made Into TV Series?

The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: The latest NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero", might be turned into a television series. Frontman and creative mastermind Trent Reznor told a U.K. newspaper that plans are underway to bring the concept disc to the airwaves, saying, "We've got a producer on board and have met with writers. We're about to pitch it to the network, so we're a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we'll see what happens."

"Year Zero" is set in a totalitarian future America ruled by a right-wing religious dictatorship. The populace is plagued by mysterious visions, the country's drinking water might be drugged and global catastrophe is near.

Reznor said earlier in the year that he was interested in bringing the story to the screen, possibly as a movie.

The album was released this past spring after an innovative viral marketing campaign that left clues for fans online and in venues where the band had played.

NINE INCH NAILS has yet to mount a full North American tour in support of "Year Zero", although the group's web site recently added a September 18 show in Honolulu, Hawaii to its summer itinerary, which is filled through August and the first half of September with shows in Europe, the U.K., China, Israel and Southeast Asia. NIN plays on Wednesday (August 15) in Switzerland.

Zombie Says Live Album Has "Bit Of Everything"

Rob Zombie has commented on upcoming concert album, which appears to be simply titled "Zombie Live". The disc comes out on September 18 and is Zombie's first-ever live effort, featuring 18 songs from both his solo career and his time with WHITE ZOMBIE.

Zombie told The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) that fans should expect a wide assortment of material. "We did the live record last summer when we were on tour, and it's a pretty long record, it's 18 songs, it's a little bit of everything," he said. "There's a couple of songs on there that we hardly ever, ever play, that we played a couple of nights and recorded it — older WHITE ZOMBIE songs like 'Black Sunshine' and things like that which we never, ever play. We didn't even hardly ever play that even in WHITE ZOMBIE. So, you know, stuff like that's pretty cool."

Zombie recorded the disc while touring in support of his third solo outing, 2006's "Educated Horses".

"Zombie Live" will also include a 36-page booklet featuring previously unpublished live photos as well as a DVD containing live footage and several animated videos.

Zombie previously told The Pulse of Radio that he will hit the road this fall. Sources have said that Zombie will be touring with OZZY OSBOURNE.

Meanwhile, Zombie's third outing as a screenwriter and director, a remake of the classic horror movie "Halloween", arrives in theatres on August 31.
