Unearth To Film Pomona, CA Show for DVD

Massachusetts metal heavyweights Unearth have just announced that they will be filming their show at the Glasshouse in Pomona, CA for an upcoming DVD. This tour marks the band's first US tour since their run of dates with Dimmu Borgir back in April/May of 2007. Joining Unearth on tour will be Darkest Hour, August Burns Red, and Suicide Silence. This monstrous tour will hit the road on September 27th for a four-week North American tour with stops in Canada. The dates are in support of the Unearth's latest album, III: In The Eyes Of Fire (recorded with Terry Date, Soundgarden, White Zombie, Pantera, Deftones) which was released August 8th 2006.

Here's what vocalist Trevor Phipps has to say: "We figured it was about time we shot a real DVD and what better place than the intimate Glasshouse? Ever since we first played there in 2002 we have loved the crowds and venue in every repeat visit. We couldn't be more stoked to return and get it on tape this time around. A high energy show and good times will be had by all on October 9th.

The live show will only be part of the DVD as we aim to make it a double disc with behind the scenes footage of us on tour, the band and crew backstage, hanging with the fans, rare studio footage, band, crew and special guest interviews, more live footage and pictures from our travels around the world and all of our videos. The DVD set will be a complete retrospective from our beginnings in the basement practice space in Winthrop, Massachusetts all the way up to present day as well as a look at what is in store for us as we approach a full decade of being Unearth."

If any of you have pictures or video you think will be a worthy addition to the DVD, please send an email to unearthdvd@gmail.com.

Trent Reznor Tells Fans To Steal His Music

Nine Inch Nails recently played their first show in China (in Bejing) and prepared a Chinese language section on the NIN website in preparation for the show, with a heartfelt message to their Chinese fans which translates as follows:

“As for the special situation in China, it does not seem to be easy to obtain Western music via legal channels, so I have the following suggestion for our fans: If you can find and buy our legal CDs, I express my thanks for your support. If you cannot find it, I think that downloading from the Internet is a more acceptable option than buying pirated CDs. Our music is easy to find on the Internet, and you might not need to spend much effort to find most of our songs. If you like our songs after you’ve heard them, please feel free to share it with your friends. As I have put all my effort and heart into my music, I sincerely hope that more and more people can share the enjoyment with us.”

Trent Reznor again reiterated his disgust with the labels by stating in Beijing:

“We will put out one last album for Universal and after that we will sell albums directly to fans from our website at (say) $4 an album.”

Following his radical statements in China, Trent Reznor returned to his old label-stomping ground in Sydney and volleyed one of the most defiant verbal assaults on a label by a major label artist ever recorded on video. The audio transcript follows (and the video is embedded at the end of this article):

“Lots and lots and lots of familiar faces..Is there anybody here tonight that wasn’t at Luna Park last night?
I talked a lot last night; tonight I’m not talking so much. I know, I know…
I woke up this morning and I forgot where I was for a minute.

"I remember last time I was here, I was doing a lot of complaining about the ridiculous prices of CDs down here. And the story got picked up and got carried all around the world and now my record label all around the world hates me because I yelled back at them - called them out for being greedy fucking assholes.

"I didn’t get the chance to check – has the price come down at all?
[Crowd yells “NO”]
I see a no, a no, a no, a no…anybody…has anyone seen the price come down?
[Crowd yells “NO” again]

"Okay, well, you know what that means - STEAL IT. Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealin’. Because one way or another, these motherfuckers will get it through their head that they’re ripping people off and that’s not right.

"Bet we didn’t make any friends by saying that”

Earlier this year, Reznor slammed his Australian label, UMG, for selling 'Year Zero' in Australia for $34.99 Australian dollars ($29.10 US).

When questioned about this, the label rep's response was: "It's because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out — you know, true fans. It's the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy."

As previously reported, Nine Inch Nails recently authorized the posting of the top 21 songs from their "Year Zero" remix contest for free download on the Internet (downloads currently only via torrent; later available by zip as demand dies down). More...

Lullacry Have Seven New Songs In The Works

Guitarist Sami Vauhkonen of the Finnish female-fronted heavy rock outfit LULLACRY has issued the following update:

We've had some difficulties to rehearse new material 'cause the bassist 'Heavy' [Kimmi Hiltunen] is suffering from some kind of, what the fu%& it's called… Whatever, his arm is quite fuc%&d up. But hey, you can't always win. Anyways, I have seven new 'ralli, as we say in Finland, on the progress. Quite heavy shit, I would say. And one 'MTV video hit' song, haha.

"We're still checking the possibilites about the next record companies. I hope we can give more info within this year. All I can say we've talked with many different labels and got some interesting offers. The next album should be out in 2008."

LULLACRY's fourth studio album, "Vol. 4", was released in the U.S. in February 2006 via Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at Astia Studios with Anssi Kippo (CHILDREN OF BODOM, ENTWINE) and at Finnvox Studio with Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS).

Hatesphere Parts With Singer, Cancels Euro Tour

Danish metal outfit Hatesphere has officially parted ways with vocalist Jacob Bredahl. Here's a statement from the band:

"As a result of personal issues, HateSphere and vocalist Jacob Bredahl have parted ways. This has been in the air for a little while now and is without doubt, the best decision for the band. Having to tour with a person who's not able to give it one hundred percent in the future and vice versa is pointless. We'd like to thank Jacob for 10 years of hard work and good times, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours! This may come as a shock for many of you but we can only emphasize that HateSphere will continue and are already in the midst of auditioning new singers.

"In effect of this and some unanticipated, economical circumstances, we have been forced to cancel our upcoming European tour with Dimmu Borgir and Amon Amarth. We are very sorry for that but have seen no other solution, as it would be too difficult to find a new singer in only ten days. The gigs we have after the tour will not be affected by this, and we promise you all to come back soon and make it up to you.

"Jacob and Pepe have always been a part of what is called HateSphere, so no question that this is also weird for the rest of the band. As you probably know, Pepe has always been writing practically all the music, so as far as that matter goes, it shouldn't mean that much. Also, the song writing for the next album is about to start and we are looking forward to work together as a new and revitalized group.

"We know all you fans will have tons of questions but what's been said here explains everything, so please refrain from asking questions regarding this subject. Jacob left on amicable terms and we are simply moving on. We realize this has to be weird for you guys, to see almost the entire band being replaced just within three months, but there's no other way and we have so much more music in us, so why stop now? Hopefully you will respect our decisions and support us in the future – We are still here and will be back sooner than you think, to kick you in the ass!"

TURISAS recently unleashed its video for "Rasputin", a cover version of the old BONEY M disco classic every fan should already recognize from the band's live shows.

Band mastermind Warlord comments: "This video is pretty far from what you'd expect from a TURISAS video — or any metal video for that matter! The idea to the video is just as wild as the cover song itself: a battle metal band covering a '70s disco hit. Just as the song, it is a crossover of the '70s kitsch attached to the BONEY M track, but performed by us as we do it. Director Vesa-Matti Vainio and the whole crew did a great job on this one, and to me this is a good pick for our first video ever. I assure you, there are plenty of ideas on epic spectacles to be looked into later."

TURISAS' version of "Rasputin" will be released as a single on the following dates:

Germany: Friday, September 21, 2007.
UK / France: Monday, September 24, 2007.
Spain: Tuesday, September 25, 2007.
Finland: Wednesday, September 26, 2007

The CD single will also include the band's classic tune "Battle Metal". The strictly limited picture 7" vinyl version will feature "The Court of Jarisleif" as the B-side.

Bring Me The Horizon Forced To Cancel Shows

Britain's BRING ME THE HORIZON has issued the following update:

"BRING ME THE HORIZON regret to announce that the remaining shows from the 17th until the 21st of September will be cancelled and rescheduled for early 2008. Unfortunately this is beyond the bands control — transportation problems — and they are very sorry they have disappointed their fans and supporters. Needless to say, they will be blowing the rooves off places on the 2008 tour."

As previously reported, BRING ME THE HORIZON has been added to three dates on Australia's Gigantour featuring MEGADETH, STATIC-X, DEVILDRIVER and LACUNA COIL:

Nov. 13 - Melbourne, Australia @ Festival Hall
Nov. 15 - Sydney, Australia @ Luna Park Big Top
Nov. 18 - Brisbane, Australia @ Riverstage

BRING ME THE HORIZON's debut album, "Count Your Blessings", was released in North America on August 14 via Earache Records.

In the seemingly short span of three years since their formation, BRING ME THE HORIZON has "accomplished more in that time than most bands do in 10," according to a press release. "In 2006, BRING ME THE HORIZON was the recipient of a Kerrang! award for 'Best British Newcomer' and held steady on MySpace's top 100 list of most played bands. BRING ME THE HORIZON was only one of two U.K. acts to chart in the MySpace top 100 (the other being COLDPLAY). In addition, they've toured with bands such as BLEEDING THROUGH and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and performed a show-stealing set at the U.K.'s Download Festival."

BRING ME THE HORIZON was licensed to Earache through the band's U.K. label Visible Noise.

Paradise Lost Drummer Issues Tour Blog

PARADISE LOST drummer Jeff Singer has issued the following Tour Blog:

"Well, here we are nearly one week into the tour. No one has been arrested, sent home or hospitalized but there is time! So, who is on this tour? Aside from the band there is Gary the driver, Little Rob our sound guy and tour manager who is a fellow Mancunian thus breaking the misery of our dour Yorkshire chums. Milly and Danny who are teching, Paul the Dutchman doing lights and Mel on merch. Paul has an uncanny look of our own Mr Holmes (vocals) and keeps getting stopped for autographs while his bizarre nasal laugh which resembles the sound of a train has earned him the monicker of The Flying Dutchman. Mel, bless her, is on her first tour but is holding up well.

Band wise we have German band EYES OF EDEN and Canada’s NEUROSONIC who have just come off the Family Values tour in America with KORN and EVANESSENCE. Both bands are sharing a bus which had to be changed last night after it emerged that a mouse had sneaked on board and was evading capture whilst eating everyones food and leaving droppings in everyones bunks...nice!

So far so good in terms of the tour. Everyone is quite chilled, crowds have been good and noticeably more vocal and we have nailed a set-list we feel happy with and have moulded it over the first few nights.

The Biebob in Vosselaar is familiar to us all and was a good place to start, Paris was fantastic and packed out. It was a top day. Great weather and nipped over to take some photos of the Sacre Couer. We then nipped down to Lyon and Toulouse where we did a signing session at FNAC and then headed on down to Barcelona.

We had a late load in so we all headed for the beach which is ten minutes from the gig to grab some coffee and lunch then got on to the beach. Some of us stayed in the bar whilst Milly and Aaron donned the Hasselhofs and went in the sea. Always great to do these things when the chance arises to stave off cabin fever.

And here we are, Monday in a small club in Madrid. Rob has already been climbing lampposts to get the bus plugged in risking death. I’m not suggesting he is small but him climbing a lamppost is like Aaron climbing the Eiffel Tower! He said he probably wouldn’t have done it if he’d been sober. We have another signing session at 5pm somewhere in Madrid. I wonder if Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be down here tonight?

Points to note. Paradise Lost’s dressing room is now known as Paradise Lost’s Internet Cafe due to the amount of laptops on the go...god bless wireless internet and Holmesey is on a surprisingly low 3.5 on the Moanometer....apparently I’m on a 4.5...BYE!!!"

Upcoming Paradise Lost, Neurosonic, Eyes Of Eden tour dates include:

September
18 - Lisbon, Portugal - Cine Teatro Corroios
20 - Bordeaux, France - Barbey
22 - Solothurn, Switzerland - Kofmehl
23 - Milan, Italy - Alcatraz
24 - Winterthur, Switzerland - Salzhaus
25 - Vienna, Austria - Planet Music
27 - München, Germany - Backstage
28 - Leipzig, Germany - Hellraiser
29 - Köln, Germany - Live Music Hall
30 - Berlin, Germany - Columbia Club

October
1 - Copenhagen, Denmark - Little Vega
2 - Oslo, Norway - Rockefeller
3 - Stockholm, Sweden - Debaser

Death Angel Enters The Studio

Death Angel's Rob Cavestany issued the following update last week regarding their next album for Nuclear Blast Records:

"I am thrilled to announce that Death Angel will enter the studio to begin tracking our new album on September 16th with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Shadows Fall) in Los Angeles. Nick came up and did pre-production with us at our studio in Oakland and we had a blast. The vibe is certainly on and we are beyond excited to start tracking with him! Anaal Nathrakh Set To Release New Album

The forthcoming Anaal Nathrakh album, entitled "Hell Is Empty, And All The Devils Are Here," is due to be released through FETO Records on October 29th 2007. Their fourth studio album promises to be a rabid whirlwind of schizophrenic malice, wide-eyed terror, and venom that is as encyclopaedic in its genre defying convulsions as it is downright vile.

Having featured several notable guest appearances through their recording career, Anaal Nathrakh are this time aided and abetted in their chaos by Josama Bin Horvath of American ultra-grind band Circle Of Dead Children, and are reunited with slave to the grind Shane Embury of Napalm Death.
