Infernaeon and Sons Of Azrael banned in Fresno
Infernaeon and Sons of Azrael ran into some trouble on one of the first dates of their current tour. Here are the official statements from members of the bands:
Brian Werner of Infernaeon had the following to say:
"On Wednesday August 29, at The Exit, in Fresno, California, we were told by the club owner that we could not perform or sell our merchandise due to the graphic images depicted on our shirts and CD?s. We would have had to censor the lyrics in our songs and lose the stage show in order to play. My band and I have not been more insulted. Last time I checked, freedom of religion means any one person has the right to practice any religion of his choosing. This was a case of one person trying to enforce his religious convictions on all the fans that chose to buy a ticket. The decision was made to stand our ground with our brothers in Sons of Azrael, and not submit to any sort of censorship. We all come from various religious beliefs, and do not discriminate against anyone for their own. All we ask is to not be discriminated against for our beliefs and convictions. We did not do this just for ourselves. We did it for all of you, and your freedoms. This country was founded on the basis of unpopular speech, and the right to be free at any and all costs."
Joseph Siracuse of Sons of Azrael had this to say:
"This was an unfortunate situation for a number of reasons. We apologize to all the fans who paid to see our performance but this was a circumstance that required the protection of our convictions. The owner of this venue did say that we could perform if we cut certain songs from our set and removed all of our merchandise from the premises. This was unacceptable. It is our constitutional right to express ourselves. As individuals, we are very tolerant people. We do not condemn anyone for their beliefs and we expect the same in return. As musicians, our lyrics and music are our outlets for expression and trying to silence them is unjust. To our fans in Fresno, we'll be back. Hails"

Tom Morello Named Guitar Hero III's Third Boss
Living guitar legend Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave has confirmed in a recent Rolling Stone interview that he's going to be one of the bosses in Activision and RedOctane's upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. He said he loved the game and is hoping to be a competitive character.
"Whenever I play Guitar Hero, my opponent always kicks my ass on my own riffs," says Morello. "Now that I'm actually in the game, I hope the digital me will win once in a while!"
Morello has been distinguished because of his trademark synthetic riffs and politically-charged numbers while with Rage Against the Machine.
Brett Michaels of Poison and Slash of Guns n' Roses have earlier been named as bosses in Guitar Hero III. RedOctane promises more legends to challenge when the game launches later this year for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
Suspyre Announce New Drummer
SUSPYRE, a progressive metal band from New Jersey, has announced the addition of drummer Jeff Willet (ex-ELLIPSE, AWAKENINGS, ABORTED EXISTENCE) to the group's ranks.
Commented Jeff, "This is the type of band I've been looking to be in for awhile now, and it's an honor to play with such talented and knowledgeable musicians. At the same time, as hard and demanding as the music is, it's still very fun and exciting to play."
Gregg Rossetti, co-founder of SUSPYRE, says, "We are all very excited to have Jeff as our newest member. He's an incredible musician and his talents will show through in new SUSPYRE music."
SUSPYRE released its second album, "A Great Divide", in April 2007 on Lance King's (BALANCE OF POWER, PYRAMAZE) label Nightmare Records, but due to the buyout of Navarre Distribution by Koch International, the CD's release date in the USA was delayed until September 11, 2007. SUSPYRE is currently working the follow-up effort, tentatively due in early 2008.
Arch Enemy Vocalist Checks In
ARCH ENEMY vocalist Angela Gossow has issued the following update:
"Two video shoots, a drummer on fire, a singer with burns and tour start without crew – We need a holiday ;-)
OK – rewind. Too many things happen every day. Last week we shot two videos with Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, LACUNA COIL) in Gothenburg.
'Revolution Begins' is set in a huge gravel pit with plenty of pyros going off whilst we were playing. Until the wind changed and Daniel's hair was no more – well, at least some of it. It kinda caught fire and literally melted down in a split second. Pretty, pretty scary!
The next day, we shot a video for the track 'I Will Live Again' in his studio. With me being tied back to the wall, fighting against the chains. I tore them right out of the wall and flew into the burning hot set lights in front of me. The result are a couple of 3rd degree burns on my forearms. Ouch! I will remember that one for quite a while.
Today, we are in LA. Our tour manager/monitor guy Mikey and Tom (FOH) are still sitting around in London, waiting for their working visas. Mind you, they applied months ago. Apparently, US immigration is in meltdown, with thousands of applications having to be scrutinized to a ridiculous level and the result is hundreds of people are not being allowed in the country. They can't cope with it and it's a total mess. We just hope for the best. Until then, MACHINE HEAD's FOH Bozz will help us out – thanx a lot for everybody's support and the relaxed atmosphere backstage!
Last night we played our first show in The Glass House, Pomona, CA. It went OK given the circumstances. The crowd made more than up for the shitty and stressful day we had – you were absolutely wonderful! Rock'n'Roll!
See you out there!"

Death Angel Tap Rush Producer For New Album
Long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL will enter a Los Angeles studio on September 16 with producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, VELVET REVOLVER, SHADOWS FALL, STONE SOUR) to begin recording their new album for an early 2008 release via Nuclear Blast Records. "Nick came up and did pre-production with us at our studio in Oakland and we had a BLAST," stated guitarist Rob Cavestany. "The vibe is certainly ON and we are beyond excited to start tracking with him! Recording should be complete by the end of October and mixed by November. This will undoubtedly be our best-sounding record ever! This album is gonna be insane. The songs are so fuckin heavy and wicked! Musically brutal. Brutally musical. This shit will wake you up!"
Rob Cavestany performed at a private-invitation-only party for STUF-TV cable show "Robb's MetalWorks" on Sunday, August 26 at the Cabo Grille in San Antonio. Rob played material from his solo disc and was joined on second guitar by DEATH ANGEL's Ted Aguilar. Rob's performance at the party, coupled with an interview, was taped for a future episode of "Robb's MetalWorks".
DEATH ANGEL's latest CD, "The Art of Dying", was released in May 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The group's first studio album since 1990's "Act III" was recorded at SF Soundworks studios in San Francisco, California with producer Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD).
