Tool Postpone San Antonio Show

Tool was forced to postpone Tuesday night's (September 12) concert at the AT&T Center in San Antonio after singer Maynard James Keenan was taken ill. The band's guitarist, Adam Jones, called in to 99.5 KISS with an apology and an explanation. "Oh, I'm really sorry," Jones said. "It's horrible, you know. Our singer got sick… Maynard is sick and it's very unfortunate 'cause, you know, when I get sick or Danny [Carey] or Justin [Chamberlain] get sick, we can still go on with the show, but Maynard's got fever, he's coughing up stuff, he's hoarse and he doesn't want everyone to think he sucks by going out and trying anyway. But you know, he needs to just get over it, rest, you know, and hopefully we can continue. So you just need to hold on to your tickets and we'll try to swing back around on this tour or on the next tour… It'll be good for that. We're really sorry about this, but it happens. You know, you're traveling and overnighting to different places and climate changes and different pollens and different infected people that are probably getting him sick and, you know." You can download and listen to the interview here.

Judge Sides w/ Original Supernova On Name Issue

MTV.com reports that according to a Tuesday, September 12 ruling by San Diego Judge John Houston, the producers of CBS' "Rock Star" are going to have to come up with an alternate name for Supernova, the band made up of Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee, Voivod's Jason Newsted and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Last month, the original Supernova — an Orange County, California, punk trio — filed for a preliminary injunction in San Diego's U.S. District Court against CBS Broadcasting, Mark Burnett Productions and Lee, Newsted and Clarke, who are starring in the second season of the reality show. The injunction sought to halt the television-contrived act from performing or recording under the name "Supernova" if the band fails to change or add any words to the moniker.

Lee, Newsted and Clarke were dropped as defendants late last month at the request of the original Supernova's lawyers.

Earlier Tuesday, Houston granted the request from the members of the original Supernova — bassist Art Mitchell, drummer Dave Collins and guitarist Jodey Lawrence — for the preliminary injunction. The injunction keeps the producers of "Rock Star: Supernova" — which concludes Wednesday night — from "performing rock and roll music, or recording, or selling rock and roll music recordings under the same [name], pending a trial of this action on its merits, or until otherwise ordered by the court."

Kiss Is 'Still The Hottest Band In Any Land'

KISS' official web site has been updated with the following press release:

Where other bands have fan clubs, KISS has a full-fledged Army of the most rabid and loyal true believers in the world. For more than three decades, the KISS Army has wanted and demanded nothing less than the best from their band and across all those years, that's exactly what KISS has always delivered.

The biggest, baddest, most triumphant show band in rock & roll history, KISS has weathered and transcended the fads, follies and delusions of an industry based on the quick buck and the passing fancy.

In the past thirty years, a thousand musical trends and genres have come and gone and come again — sensitive singer-songwriters, glam, metal, punk, alternative, garage, roots, new wave, goth, hardcore, grunge, industrial, techno, retro, hip-hop, teenybop pop, boy bands, girl groups, etc. etc. — and through it all, there has always been KISS.

KISS endures because the band is archetypal, iconic, larger-than-life and louder than thunder. The band, the brand, the blood, the fire and fireworks, the spectacle, the shock and awe and wonder of it all. KISS has always given its Army the best rock in the world and neither side has ever settled for less. And, for all the flash and arena-sized theatricality, the core of KISS is really the music, as potent and powerful and connected to the true heart of rock & roll as any band or artist or performer of the past century.

For the KISS Army, the release this Halloween of "KISSology: Volume One 1974-1977" marks the arrival of nothing less than a Holy Grail: 6 solid hours of vintage KISS going all the way back to the deep early roots of the band's classic line-up — Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss — captured and re-mastered on 2 state-of-the-art DVDs featuring more than 70 live performances and four full concerts bundled along with unreleased tracks and never-before-seen footage. New Audio Interview with Korn Bassist Online

KORN is scheduled to begin work on its new CD on September 24, the group's bassist, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, revealed in an interview conducted last night (Sept. 12) by Scoop of 102.7 WEBN's "Dawn Patrol" in Cincinnati. Audio of the interview has been posted online at this location.

KORN has revealed the details and track listing for the expanded edition of its seventh studio album, "See You on the Other Side", which will be released on September 26. The new version will include a "Chopped And Screwed" remix EP, live tracks, a bonus DVD and some other surprises, as singer Jonathan Davis told Launch: "There's a twist on the artwork. There's a DVD in there of from when we did the AOL sessions, some live songs at different places. We did the album chopped and screwed, so it's all slowed down and the whole chopped and screwed thing. There's a lot of cool stuff on there. You gotta get it because it's gonna be really cool."

The band's AOL Music session, which was its first-ever acoustic performance, is represented by unplugged versions of "Coming Undone" and "Twisted Transistor". The videos for both songs are also included.

Both are also among the songs being remixed for the set, along with "Getting Off". Live versions of "Twisted Transistor", "Coming Undone", "Hypocrites", "Blind", "Throw Me Away", "Liar" and others will also appear.

"See You On The Other Side" was originally issued last December and has sold over one million copies since its release.

Oct. 25 - Tampa, FL @ St. Pete Times Forum
Oct. 27 - Estero, FL @ Germain Arena

In a recent interview with New York magazine, GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose explained what's been holding up the release of the oft-delayed "Chinese Democracy", an album he's spent more than a decade working on. "It's not about being a control freak," he said. "It's about being maybe smart enough to go, 'No, that's a bad idea.' That's all it's about — keeping the ability to at least have a shot as opposed to something that's just an obvious disaster. I want to make a good record. I don't want to throw a brick. This cannot be Shaq at the free-throw line." Rose added that the disc will surface before the end of 2006.

GUNS N' ROSES' "Greatest Hits" collection, which was originally issued in March of 2004, was certified triple-platinum on April 11, 2006 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of three million copies. The CD sold more than 11,000 copies in the United States last week alone (week ending September 10), bringing the total number of copies sold since its release to 3.16 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Interview With Rob Trevino Of Eternity Black

I am so thrilled and honored to be interviewing my next subject, Rob Trevino, lead guitarist of Houston, Texas' ETERNITY BLACK. A lot of you know him from his days with the legendary HELSTAR, but I have to get on the bullhorn here and tell you metalers that this dude is not playing around, even this late in the game of his highly respected musical career. When most others his age, Dave Mustaine notably, clearly are slowing down and not flashing much of the past great virtuoso chops in newer material any longer, it's a great thing to see Rob truly sticking to his guns, no matter what anyone thinks. And I'm here to say that this is a heavy metal band that could go head to head right now with just about anyone. They are that impressive musically, dropping sonic atomic bombs to wipe thousands around them off the map... and into ETERNITY BLACK. More...

Annihilator Working On New Album

Jeff Waters has been missing from Annihilator's online forum for some time, an unusual occurence for the guitarist and founder of the band. After many queries about this oddity, the band's webmaster issued the following report:

"I spoke with Jeff last week. He has been absent from this forum (a rare thing for Jeff!) because of literally locking himself away in his studio for months, working furiously on the new Annihilator CD. He says that most of the CD has been recorded. However, he is also taking care of the business end first, ie: new record deal, setting up touring, etc. I am sure that he will return here as soon as he can and we will all be in for some excitement here! Hang in!"
The follow-up to 2005's Schizo Deluxe CD will feature drummer Mike Mangini and Dave Padden, who will be the band's first guitarist to play rhythm guitar and sing on a record.
