Once Dead Parts Ways With Singer

ONCE DEAD, the Christian metal band featuring former members of VENGEANCE RISING and HIRAX guitarist Glenn Rogers, has issued the following update:

"We are very sorry to announce that our dear friend and bandmate Scott Waters will no longer be the frontman for ONCE DEAD. Scott is an exceptionally talented and amazing vocalist; and one of the best people I have ever worked with. His attitude has always been positive, and his willingness to sacrifice so much of his time for the benefit of the band has been incredible. He has placed so much time and effort into ONCE DEAD that without a doubt the band will never be the same. The issues with a long-distance working relationship have simply become too burdensome to overcome. The associated expenses with flying Scott back and forth and keeping him here on an extended basis have become cost-prohibitive. We will miss Scott dearly and we are very sad that we have come to this crossroad. We thank Scott for all of his time and effort, and we wish him all the best. He will be greatly missed by all of us in the band. Understanding that many ONCE DEAD fans are also Scott Waters fans, we apologize to you as well. We understand your frustration and disappointment. Viking Skull Mainman Seeks New Members

Darren Smith (guitar) and Gordon Morrison (drums) have left Corby, U.K.-based old-school metallers VIKING SKULL and will be focusing their attention on RAGING SPEEDHORN. Meanwhile, VIKING SKULL vocalist/guitarist Roddy Stone has launched a search for a new drummer and bass player. Interested parties should be between 20 and 30 years old, "must be shit-hot at their profession but most importanly, [must] like BLACK SABBATH. Milton Keynes/Northampton area prefered." Roddy can be contacted via www.myspace.com/roddystone or roddystone@hotmail.com.

VIKING SKULL earlier in the year signed a deal with 456 Entertainment/Universal to release their debut album, "Born in Hell", in the U.S. Upon its U.K. release last October, "Born in Hell" received rave reviews from the U.K. metal press, with Metal Hammer's 9/10 review stating that the band were "like MOTÖRHEAD on testosterone supplements." A longtime supporter of the band, 456 Entertainment's Bam Margera (MTV's "Jackass", "Viva La Bam") said, "We're stoked to have VIKING SKULL on board. They are the hottest rock 'n' roll band to come out of the U.K. since BLACK SABBATH." Carson Daly, who co-founded 456 Entertainment, added, "Your favorite rock and roll band now sucks — VIKING SKULL will out-distort, out-solo, and out-rock all others." More...

Interview

Interview With Shimera's Susanne Gentry

Tampa, Florida death metal act SHIMERA throw down a lean, mean and technically supreme form of heavy music. Unlike most current bands of this genre, Shimera isn't at all plagued with the over-used blast beat and ridiculously distorted guitar syndrome. They know how to find the groove. And to me, that's what Rock n Roll is about in the first damn place. The band, currently auditioning bass players for their lineup, is made up of James Seaton on lead/rhythm guitar & vocals, Brian Mourer on lead and rhythm guitar and Susanne Gentry on drums.

Vocalist Angela Gossow of ARCH ENEMY — who are touring North America as part of Gigantour 2006 (also featuring LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, INTO ETERNITY and SANCTITY in addition to the headliner MEGADETH) — has posted the following message on her MySpace page:

"Chicago, Columbus and Detroit rocked! Especially Chicago the crowd was insane! And to everybody who is coming out the signings: Thank you for buying our stuff and your wonderful words. Meeting you all is pure fuel for the soul.

"Last night I joined MEGADETH on stage during the chorus of 'Peace Sells'. It was a 10-seconds-ultra-rush. I stood at the side of the stage, not feeling too nervous. Then you get the 'Go' sign from the stage manager, who is also watching the fireworks. I run up to Dave's mic and then suddenly IT hit me. I AM STANDING NEXT TO DAVE MUSTAINE, SINGING PEACE SELLS AND HEARING IS VOICE TOGETHER WITH MINE. I believe my heart exploded at this moment. And my brain. I got it on video cam so I can watch it again. I can hardly believe I WAS THERE. MUST. DO. IT. AGAIN. We will put the file on the website in a few days.. More...
