Shadows Fall Drop Off Tour To Wrap Up Recording

Atlantic Recording Group Shadows Fall has reluctantly decided that the intensity of their current recording sessions has made it impossible for the band to hit the concert trail next month for their previously announced shows with Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead. The Springfield, MA-based rock outfit is hard at work in the studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Stone Sour, Rush) recording their highly anticipated Atlantic debut, due in early 2007.

"We are all very disappointed that we will not be able to hit the road with our friends in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead," said Shadows Fall lead singer Brian Fair.

"Originally, we had hoped to complete the recording of our new album in time for the beginning of the tour on November 9th, but now it appears that will not be possible. New ideas have continued to surface and push the songs into new directions that we have to pursue. Making the best album possible is our number one priority and something we must focus on one hundred percent at this time. We sincerely apologize to all the people that planned on coming to see us at these shows, but our absence is no reason not to go and support this tour. Our bros from New England in Killswitch Engage and Bury Your Dead will be throwing it down the way only they can and this should not be missed by anyone!! We will keep you posted as we wrap up the album and make plans to get back on the road."

The Killswitch Engage/Bury Your Dead itinerary will begin as scheduled on November 9th at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, NC, with dates continuing through December 20th at Lupo's at The Strand in Providence, RI. Massachusetts' All That Remains will be part of the tour's lineup through the November 26th show at the Big Easy Concert House in Spokane, WA.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Working On New Album

San Francisco act SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM is currently recording parts of its as-yet-untitled first full-length album for The End Records at Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco, California with engineer/producer Joel Hamilton (THE BOOK OF KNOTS, SPARKLEHORSE, ELVIS COSTELLO, FRANK BLACK, UNSANE, BATTLE OF MICE, DUB TRIO)

About the new CD, engineer/producer Joel Hamilton says, "Moving forward, the band requires little attention to compose a work of great indifference, etc," while violinist/singer Carla Kihlstedt comments, "kept company by the unflinching gaze of multi-colored wall monsters, the noises spill forth to fill their two dimensional ears."

Matthias Bossi adds, "Revitalization (though not as eerily rampant as gentrification) continues to stun the band in the early stages of compositional magnification."

The album is scheduled to surface sometime in early 2007

Swarm Of The Lotus Calls It Quits

Baltimore metal band Swarm of the Lotus are officially breaking up. The band will play their final show on November 1st at Ottobar with Goatwhore and a few other bands to be announced later.

Here's the official statement from the band:

"So, it has reached its end. After 8 years, I have decided to put the monster, the rolling ball of chaos that it is, to rest for the long hall.

I never thought I'd reach that point with this project. But after years of mostly struggle to even exist, I have come to the realization that it has always been somewhat of a broken project trying desparately to push forward. With all the line-up changes, relearning processes, constant bad luck on the road, and the general one-step-forward, two-steps-back blackhole that the band sank into, it has been hard to even recognize who and what exactly we are. And to try and maintain constant motivation and confidence that in the end everything will work out just fine, can be taxing and has only and finally started to affect me very recently. Now I'm not saying it was all bad, I don't want to paint it with that brush.

I feel nothing but grateful and fortunate for all of the things the band has managed to accomplish over our time and have enjoyed playing with everyone that I've had the pleasure of doing so with. And to any of you who appreciated what we had to bring to the table, thank you. Mountains of thanks to all the people that might have had a hand in helping or supporting the band in any and all ways. I could never say enough.

This also doesn't mean that I personally will be giving up playing, no way. I could never do that and neither will anybody who is currently in the band. So be on the lookout for those guys in future projects that they may do. As for me, I feel that this is all a good thing and that by putting this gargantuan project to rest, I can start fresh with new music, in a new project, with renewed enthusiasm. Until then, thank you once again for everything, to all of you who cared and became part of the history of the band.

Thanks,
Pete/Swarm of the Lotus"

Aborted Part With Drummer and Bassist

Belgian death metallers ABORTED have confirmed rumors that they have parted ways with drummer Gilles Delecroix and bass player Olivia Scemama (ex-NO RETURN, BALROG).

Commented the group: "Being in a band like Aborted at this point takes a lot of investment and commitment. Right now we are not making money to support members of the band. Every tour is a financial hazard for the band which forces us to keep the small amounts of money we do make on shows to keep as backup if anything goes wrong on tour or any other situation, so that we don't have to pay the bills from our own pockets anymore. The result of this is quite simple: we can't afford to pay band members to play in this band. These conditions are simple facts and didn't work for Gilles and Olivia, which made it quite obvious they couldn't be in the band anymore. We would like to welcome Peter Goemaere, who also plays in EMETH as a replacement for Olivia. Peter already performed with the band on a show in Tel Aviv (Israel) where he replaced Olivia who cancelled few days before leaving for Israel.

The band is currently recording the new album, Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture with producer Tue Madsen at the Antfarm in Denmark. Drums on the record have been taken care of by Dave Haley from the band PSYCROPTIC and drums in the upcoming shows this and next year (until a fitting permanent replacement has been found) will be handled by Etienne Galo from the band NEGATIVA. Etienne's first show with the band will be on October 31st in Opwijk, Belgium. The band is currently taking auditions for a new drummer. Serious inquiries can be sent to aborted@telenet.be or avernusstudios@gmail.com.

The new album is scheduled to be released worldwide mid-February through Century Media Records and features several guest performances by Jeff Walker (CARCASS), Jacob Bredahl (HATESPHERE) and Henrik Jacobsen (Hatesphere).

The track listing for the effort is as follows: 'The Chondrin Enigma', 'A Methodical Overture', 'Avenious', 'The Spaying Séance', 'And Carnage Basked In Its Ebullience', 'The Foul Nucleus Of Resurrection', 'Archetype', 'Ingenuity In Genocide', 'Odious Emanation', 'Prolific Murder Contrivance', 'Underneath Rorulent Soil'.

Besides the regular 11 new tracks, the band also recorded two cover tracks for limited editions or Japanese release, [those] being 'Slaughtered' from PANTERA and 'Surprise! You're Dead' from FAITH NO MORE. The band's first official DVD, 'The Auricular Chronicles' will be released by Listenable Records on October 30th region free and NTSC format."
