Kill Your Idols Breaking Up
New York City hardcore/punk band Kill Your Idols has announced plans to disband. Formed over ten years ago, the group has put out a slew of releases, including material with Blackout! Records and Side One Dummy Records. KYI has released the following statement:
"Yes, KYI is breaking up this summer. I want you to hear it first from someone in the band who can tell you that there is no bad blood, no drama, no in-fighting, no record label problems or legal battles, no sickness or death or anything of the usual break-up sort. We are the best of friends, and we just released our best record ever. That is how we want to end it off.
I want you to hear it from the mouth of one of the guys who started this band, whose biggest dreams when we started it was "Imagine we could play a show with H20, Sick of it all, Sheer terror, AF, or 7seconds? Imagine we played and kids moshed? Imagine we made a 7", or even a full length record, that we didn't have to dub 1000 times on our stereo ourselves?" "Imagine we could go on tour?"
Not only have we accomplished ALL those things 1000 times over, but It's safe to say we accumulated the most sincere, coolest following of any band I can think of. We were never a trendy band. All our fans are for real. I never dreamed any person would get that goofy skull tattooed on themselves, and we have seen hundreds of them. I wouldnt be surprised if I saw hundreds more after we break up. The accomplishments we have achieved in this band are without measure. The only thing we didn't accomplish with this band is make a living doing it...and that is because we truly never sold out. With a following as sincere as the one we have, It's enough for us to know that people all over the world hold us as dear to them as we hold bands like Black Flag. That is worth more to us than money. We always worked for a living, and that hasn't changed. Maybe that is what makes us so special. We are regular guys that play some pretty good hardcore music. We are glad you like it!
After several releases, over 50 different tours in 6 years (we lost count!) across the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and almost 11 years as a band, it's time to say goodbye. Why? More...
Dominus Praelii Complete First Leg of Tour
After two months and a half of the "Be a Banger or Be a Bastard" tour which passed through six countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil) making 34 shows, the heavy metal cult Dominus Praelii is finally back to Brazil.
They finished the first part of this successful tour which began in their home city, Londrina, and ended in Cuiabá. The second part of the tour will begin in October and will be extended untill December, with the objective to reach 50 shows and enter in the Guinnness Book of Records with the biggest South American tour made by a rock/metal band, and then it'll be the time to think about an European tour.
Producers from South America interested to be part of this historical tour should contact the band through the e-mail contato@dominuspraelii.com
In this tour Dominus Praelii played for more than 35,000 people, which joined this heavy metal cult to promote the band's latest album, Bastards & Killers.
You can check out some samples of the new album were posted on MySpace.
Deicide Kicked Out Of Practice Space
Floridian death metal legends DEICIDE were practicing in their industrially zoned practice space, surrounded by sonically booming concrete factories, when they were surprisingly bombarded by Florida’s Pasco County Sheriff’s department and asked to leave. DEICIDE, who have been practicing in this legally deemed “industrial” area for quite some time, were immensely shocked and were forced to evacuate the practice space quaintly nestled between a mass of factories that inherently produce bombastic sound. DEICIDE are appalled at the random uprooting and have been forced to find a new practice space, inconveniently coinciding with the impending kick-off of their fall world tour. DEICIDE will be embarking on a world-wide fall headlining tour in support of “The Stench of Redemption” and are excited to bring a refreshed dose of brutality to the metal masses. Never a unit to be discouraged, DEICIDE are prepared to continue fine tuning their skills at another practice in preparation for their upcoming tour.
Malicious Intent Records Closes Its Doors
Malicious Intent Records will be closing down due to financial problems that has troubled the label since the beginning of last year. There were negotiations regarding a buy out and merger with another distribution company which would have expanded both companies, but apparently the deal had fallen through, causing the extreme music label no other choice but to close down. The label's CEO gave this statement:
"On behalf of everyone here we are extremely sorry to announce the end of Malicious Intent. It has been a great run, and we have made alot of friends in the process. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, we will have to call it quits. We would again like to thank everyone in the extreme metal and hardcore scenes for all the goodtimes."
Over the years, Malicious Intent has released albums from Flesh and Blood Robot (US), Cranial Incisored (Indonesia), Zora (Italy), as well as others.
