Fates Warning Drummer Forms New Band
Fates Warning/Warlord drummer Mark Zonder has formed a new band by the name of Slavior. Slavior have recently been signed to Inside Out Music and are scheduled to put out a self-titled debut album early 2007.
Slavior's line-up also features Michael Schenker Group guitarist/keyboardist, Wayne Findlay, and ex-Tribe Of Gypsies singer Gregg Analla.
Zonder stated the following regurading his new band:
"For a long, long time, I've always wanted to put something together that was based on the drum parts it is very difficult to take a crazy drum idea and try to apply it to someone else's idea. Most of the time it turns into a mess. If you start with the drum part, and build from there, it seems to work out. With Slavior, the songs are so accessible and groove-oriented, after 15 seconds, anyone should be able to lock into it."
Slavior originally inked a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records, but financial turmoil eventually caused the label to fold, leaving the band to re-evaluate matters and come to their initial choice of labels, Inside Out. Zonder added, "You hear the old saying, 'when one door closes, another opens' and I think that is the case here, Inside Out was always one of our first choices. I've known Jim (Pitulski, Inside Out America President) for 20 years now and to come to his label is certainly something we’re excited about. Even after we inked our deal with Inside Out, we heard from other labels that we were in contact with that congratulated us and said that IO was a classy label. That's always a good thing to hear."
Jim Pitlski, President of Inside Out records said the following regurading Slavior's signing withe label:
"Mark Zonder has been a friend and colleague for many years and I have long admired his incredible skill as a musician," comments Pitulski. "It is with great pleasure and pride that we now welcome Mark and Slavior to the Inside Out family. The release of Slavior represents a unique challenge for Inside Out in that its sound is not necessarily typical of what we've come to be known for as a label. We're looking at this release as an opportunity to push our own boundaries just as Slavior themselves are pushing the boundaries of modern music."
Deadlock Add Second Singer
German metal band Deadlock have announced Sabine Weniger as their second lead vocalist. Sabine has collaborated with the band for the past 6 years on their previous albums. Sabine will be featured on Deadlock's upcoming as-of-yet untitled release through Lifeforce Records due out April 2007. The band also stated the following:
"The personal and musical cooperation in the past has always been fantastic and will now mean another big step to more variety, innovation and inimitability. Her amazing and highly acclaimed voice perfectly fits in our new songs and we're sure, that Joe and her will be an excellent duo on our live performances and all upcoming releases."
Sabine has been involved in the songwriting of the upcoming album and will be included in the studio sessions. The band began recording drums last weekend.

Army of Anyone Post Video For Goodbye
ARMY OF ANYONE, the band featuring former members of FILTER and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, has posted its first video at YouTube.com. The clip is for the song "Goodbye", which comes off the band's self-titled debut album, due out on November 14. Singer Richard Patrick told Launch that the song has an especially personal meaning for him. "I'm in a program of recovery, and unfortunately I've had to experience a lot of loss in that program," he said. "A lot of young lives have ended in front of me, and a lot of great people that have a disease have died. It's hard to deal with. And it's just a very simple song about loss and having to say goodbye. It's not the easiest thing to do."
For the video, ARMY OF ANYONE enlisted director Scott Speer, a 24-year-old newcomer whose credits include SWITCHFOOT's "Stars" and TEDDY GEIGER's "For You I Will (Confidence)", according to MTV.com.
"When he walked into the meeting, I thought, 'Great, someone's junior manager is in here. When's the director get here?' " Patrick joked on the set. "And then he goes, 'I am the director.' But he's got a vision and he's talented and he knows his way around the camera."
Patrick got clean and sober just over four years ago, on September 28, 2002. He has the date tattooed on his arm.
The video for "Goodbye" was shot in late August in Los Angeles.
ARMY OF ANYONE made its live debut on September 20 with a surprise rooftop performance at a restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota
The band, which features ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS members Robert DeLeo on bass and Dean DeLeo on guitar in addition to former FILTER frontman Patrick, will begin a promotional radio tour today (October 4) that will last until the record's arrival.
ARMY OF ANYONE will head out on a full U.S. tour later this fall.
Alice In Chains Silencing Doubters
ALICE IN CHAINS recently spoke to AOL Music about the group's decision to reunite with a new singer, William Duvall.
"We spent half our lives together and created all this music, so just getting back in touch with it is a big thing, man," guitarist Jerry Cantrell said. "When you look back, you realize how much fun we actually had."
"Once we got rolling it was just really emotional for me, doing this without our brother Layne [Staley, late frontman]," added bassist Mike Inez.
"I think we've kind of found some sort of neutral buoyancy. We're floating in the ocean. It just feels good. It feels more natural."
Drummer Sean Kinney said the band had to deal with a lot of doubters at first. "Nobody knew what would happen, 'cause some people are just stupid," he said. "They can't let go of the past, and they believe things have to be a certain way. I hear a lot of people tell me, 'This can't work, and it shouldn't be.' By the third song, they're singing along. And then they feel the need to hunt you down and tell you they were wrong."
Chevelle Begins Recording New Album
Epic recording artists CHEVELLE have entered the studio to begin recording the highly anticipated follow-up to 2004's gold-selling album, "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)". The yet-to-be-titled disc is tentatively scheduled for a spring 2007 release.
The new CHEVELLE album will be produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who the band previously worked with on both "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" and 2003's platinum-selling release, "Wonder What's Next". Tentative songtitles include "Humanoid", "Straight Jacket Fashion" and "One Cell". The new album will also mark the recording debut of bassist Dean Bernardini, who joined the band during last year's tour.
"This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" entered Billboard's Top 200 at #8 and went gold in just six short weeks. The first single, "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)", shot to No. 1 on Billboard's Active Rock chart and its companion video garnered airplay on MTV, MTV2 and Fuse. Second single "The Clincher" appeared on EA Sports' top-selling video game Madden NFL 2005 and hit top 10 on Billboard's Active Rock chart. Over the course of the months following the album’s release, the band did an arena tour with KORN, appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", were featured on CNN, headlined the SnoCore Tour and recently wrapped a string of dates with NICKELBACK.

"Make a video recording of yourself playing 'Entities' along to a metronome. Please do not send your own personal interpretations of the song, the band just wants to make sure you can play what is heard on the CD. The band would also like to see another video of you drumming showcasing whatever you'd like. Once you've done that you can email Job for a Cowboy at jfacaudition@gmail.com. We would need you to relocate during our writing process. We will provide food, living shelter, and equipment."

Alice In Chains Talks About Recent Reunion, Tour
AOL Music reports: If fans didn't know what to expect when the three remaining members of Alice in Chains decided to reunite with a new singer, William Duvall, they weren't the only ones.
"We spent half our lives together and created all this music, so just getting back in touch with it is a big thing, man," says guitarist Jerry Cantrell, speaking to AOL Music backstage at KROQ's recent Inland Invasion show. "When you look back, you realize how much fun we actually had."
"Once we got rolling it was just really emotional for me, doing this without our brother Layne [Staley, late frontman]," adds bassist Mike Inez.
The band also had to deal with questions about where they fit in, music-wise, a decade later, but Inez says the group is finding its way: "I think we've kind of found some sort of neutral buoyancy. We're floating in the ocean. It just feels good. It feels more natural."
Drummer Sean Kinney says the band had to deal with a lot of doubters at first. "Nobody knew what would happen, 'cause some people are just stupid. They can't let go of the past, and they believe things have to be a certain way. I hear a lot of people tell me, 'This can't work, and it shouldn't be.'"
But Kinney says after seeing the show some fans have admitted their mistake. "By the third song, they're singing along. And then they feel the need to hunt you down and tell you they were wrong."
